Girl Waits With Gun had such great characters and I love how the story line in this second book gave Stewart the opportunity to shine a much deserved light right on Constance Kopp. The story is a period piece, but written with contemporary sensibilities... and that really appeals to me. Review: Good read - Great follow up to the first book, if you haven't read it yet, it would benefit you to read it before picking up this book so you are familiar with the characters. The story flows well, it's a quick, enjoyable, light read. I am hoping for another book in the series!

Coptivating Read
Fun read. Canโt help but enjoy reading about these strong willed, smart thinking, independent siblings. They solve and resolve every scrape. Humor, hints of romance, a little history of pre WW1. Wish I kept my original copies. Gave a gifts told coyldnโt put down.

Connie Gets Her Man!
Love this series. Constance Kopp was a real person and much of the story has as its " bones" the articles written about her in the New Jersey papers of the early 20th Century. She and her two sisters live in the rural part of Rutherford but she is the sheriff's deputy--on and off. Mostly, lately she has been the woman's jail matron but, when one of the male inmates refuses to speak anything but German and only to her, she finds herself escorting him to the nearest hospital where he makes his escape. How she tries to recapture him to save her boss' job and get reinstated is a truly fun Kopp Kaper. The secondary characters--her down to earth passenger pigeon breeder sister, Norma and her much younger " sister " and determined to see the lights of the city, Fleurette--only enhance the tale, as does her by the book but supportive boss and his unhappy wife. Looking forward to episode three.

An Interesting Enough Tale---But
Interesting enough tale---but I found weaknesses in the author's transitions from one scene to another. I also found her attributions to be a little weak. In both cases, I often found myself confused to the point I had to stop and go back and reread a few paragraphs to see which character was actually doing the speaking. Another time, I had to go back to see where I missed a transition. Miss Kopp had been in pursuit of one character, then, later on in the scene I suddenly found her in pursuit of that characterโs brother. When I went back and reread the scene, I discovered where I missed the transition, but it wasnโt that clear the first time I read it. Since Ms. Stewart was primarily a non-fiction writer prior to these two novels, I think the fault of these weaknesses of which I speak, should be directed at Ms. Stewartโs editor who should have picked up on them. All in all though, after I went back and reread the scenes and got myself straightened out, I found both books to be interesting and intriguing tales with a laugh or two thrown in along the way, and maybe other readers wonโt notice the weaknesses that I perceive. And in conclusion, I felt like the descriptions of some of the dwellings of various characters went a little overboard. Too much detail. When book three comes out Iโll probably buy it, because there are still a few things in the lives of the Kopp sisters that Iโm interested in knowing about.

History and Feminism + Adventure
When you read Amy Stewart's novels about Constance Kopp, don't skip the historical footnotes at the end. Stewart has faithfully recreated a real person from the early 20th Century. It's easy to take progress for granted until novels like these remind us that women had few rights in those days, nor did they command much respect. In this second novel about the Kopp sisters, Stewart reminds us that women were routinely abused, that they sometimes lapsed into substance abuse, that they were forbidden from living fully. Still, the novel fleshes out characters who are admirable, likeable, and funny. It has been a long time since I have met a protagonist who captured my interest as fully as Constance Kopp does.

Fictionalized history
Miss Kopp is an interesting figure and the fictionalized version of the story is enjoyable. Stewart points out the variety of sources she used and how some things were manipulated for the sake of the story. All seems to keep true to the time in which this is set.

Post WW1, pre-prohibition
A period often missed except for romance and post war angst. A look at the early assimilation of women into American police ranks. Excellent charaterisation and a not over laboured plot. An enjoyable read. Well above average.
