Knife Throwing: A Practical Guide Review: Great work and good piece of US history... from when USA was truly land of the free..... - This is a great book- that hearkens back to a day when folks could in fact go into their backyard and throw knives and ax's at a target without upsetting anyone in the USA. However, those days in the USA are gone, sadly forever. Furthermore, this book, is more than a practical guide, but a great piece of American history of what freedom in the USA was all about. Not all whom throw, and actually a very few, knives and axes are are in fact psychopaths- but instead sports enthusiasts. This apparently lot art, is in fact great for hand eye coordination, requires some mathematics skills as well as athletic skill/ aptitude. One the TV show Bones, one of main characters- in the FBI- is in fact a skilled knife thrower of carnival / circus quality. Wonder how this fictional character came about these skills in the modern USA, as one could simply not practice, even in the safety of ones own backyard anymore in urban nor suburban America USA?????? Great work and good piece of US history... from when USA was truly land of the free..... Review: Lets start throwing knives - So I bought the book in an attempt to recapture those boring summer afternoons. I also got a set of throwing knives, 8 inch long, here on desertcart. I admit that this book isn't going to throw the knives for you. I had some time where no knives would stick. I continued to read the first 3 chapters over and over again and it seemed as though I had a better chance hitting the lotto than finally sticking the knife. But the book gives you the very basic and technical devices to which you add your own personal touches. Eventually, after figuring out the physics behind the spin, the knives started to stick to my target, and now I can thrown pretty darn well. The book even goes one step further, giving you advice for long distance throwing, making targets, and axe-throwing. All in all, the book has all the information in one place, is complemented with great pictures, and can give you the know how to throw a knife. All you need to provide is a few afternoons and some patience!

Dang good read. I like the fact that this book ...
Dang good read. I like the fact that this book actually goes in depth about the history of knife throwing and especially with a guy who KNOWS what he's talking about. Knife throwers have their own special ways of learning how to throw and hack at a stump or other target. I love Mr. McEvoy's points in this little book. He gives simple direction with pictures and instructions on how to throw a different array of knives and hatchets/Axes. I suggest both new and seasoned knife throwers to pick this book up. It's influential, inspiring and eye opening to the world of throwers. Worth every penny. Thanks a ton!

Great for beginners!
Wonderfully informative in addition to well-written, this book is a must for any beginner to the art! I bought this for my niece, who wanted to get into knife throwing, as well as some practice knives and her first sharp set. She's learned a lot in a few months!
