The price was right for this little sandwich maker. From time to time you just crave a pressed sandwich and you pull this out and use it. Easy, works well, cooks fast, compact design.

This GOTHAM STEEL Sandwich Maker is an absolute life saver! It’s incredibly easy to use—plug it in, load up your sandwiches, and a few minutes later you’ve got perfectly toasted, melty goodness with those classic grill lines. My kids love it and honestly won’t settle for a pan-grilled cheese anymore! Cleanup is basically non-existent thanks to the ultra nonstick copper surface. The easy-cut edges and indicator lights make the whole process foolproof. It’s compact, efficient, and seriously a game changer for busy mornings or quick lunches. Highly recommend!

So we use ours regularly! It was great at first for sandwiches, i found its an easy way to make eggs in the morning when you dont have the energy to watch a skillet. Ive made quesadilla pockets and chicken patties on it! But Ive realized recently that after regular use the metal is starting to loosen an theres a distinct tick sound when its headed up sounds like a heating coil issue so ive been keeping a closer eye on it, but overall for the price its been good for a starter one.

I was excited to start using this product. I followed the directions to clean the surface before using. I made my husband & I basic Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Being careful not to put too much cheese, being I didn’t know how it will turn out. I followed the directions provided how to make the Grilled Cheese. First issue, was the latch was hard to align & clip closed. Second, I noticed cheese oozing from the sides & from the back all over the hinges & heating cable. Third, the melted cheese made it hard to open the top to get the sandwiches out. It finally opened, there was cheese all over. I took the 2 sandwiches out and wiped the plates to prepare for the next 2 sandwiches. There was cheese stuck to the plastic frame, couldn’t get the cheese off easily. Put the final 2 sandwiches in, same amount of cheese as the first two. The same thing happened, cheese oozing out of the sides & out of the back. Even though I cleaned the plates before use, there was a strange taste to the sandwiches. Needless to say neither my husband or I were happy with the Gotham Steel Sandwich Maker. I would hate to see what a mess there would be if we were making any other recipes in the booklet. One positive note, it did do a good job browning the bread. Because we used the item, we didn’t think we could return it & threw it away. Our advice is don’t waste your money.

It broke after a year. We used it occasionally. You need to make sure your sandwiches are not very thick otherwise it made good sandwiches.

I used to have. Ronco version of this from the 80’s lol. And my mom and I were reminiscing. We couldn’t find it anywhere. I’m sure my brother stole it! I decided to look for one for mother’s day. This hit the mark because I have a parrot and Teflon in toxic for birds. Most others are Teflon coated. Many others were much more expensive. There were fancier ones that had more bells and whistles, but the copper and the fact that the nostalgia was the true gift made this one the perfect purchase. She makes mini apple pies in it. Always has. But if you have tweens, it’s great!!! We always used it to make anything you can buy as a hot pocket now. Pizza was the obvious favorite. Fast, you can be creative and make all kinds of things. It’s a good transition into cooking. It’s harder to burn yourself than the stove, the over, or even the toaster oven. And it wipes out clean like a charm. Brings back great memories. It would be great for a dorm room. Those mini apple pies, let me just tell you!!! It’s easier now. They sell premade cinnamon apples because Boston market made that a popular side. All you need is a little butter or substitute and put in some of that, seal it - in a few minutes you can have 4 apple pies better for you than McDonalds!!! GREAT for eggs and little omelette too!! Like an omelette bar. No need to use bread. All these types of machines are modeled after the machine I grew up with. The draw with this one was the copper- safe for my bird, and the copper. But in general, these little guys are so much fun to cook with and to start your kids cooking in a much safer way than the alternatives.
