BOSCH GTL3 Wall/Floor Covering Laser

I've been a tile contractor for more than thirty years and have been using laser tools since they first came out. Back then you could pay thousands of dollars for a spinning line laser. I have used Dewalt ,Rubi, Straightline, other bosch's, etc. and this one is the best. I kinda balked at the price because now you can get good laser's for about half of what this sells for if you watch sales. Now that I have this one I wish I would have got it years ago. The line is crisp ,narrow but consistent and bright and best of all it has a 45 degree feature. the design allows you to have the tool behind the lines you are checking/creating. Some lasers sit right on the line wihich makes it harder to use when you have already set the tile and are checking them for square. After a new purchase I always double check my laser squares to make sure they are precise and this one is the most accurate I've ever had and it seems to be solidly built. I even use it for single lines because unlike most lasers this one is the same thickness from the start all the way to thirty feet out and more. I'm getting one for all my tile setters. If you've never used a laser square this one pays for itself in one or two jobs.

This works as good as I could have expected. A set of stilts or maybe some kind of lifter would have been marvelous. I'm sure if you're using regular spacers and not those wedges and spinners, you won't need any adjustment to the height, but with the spinners and the wedges, you'll need a box or something to set it on to get over the big blocks that those levelers create. What makes this still a5 start product is twofold. 1. It's been around since before those gigantic spinners and levelers. 2. It shoots a plane of light instead of just a beam, so, if you raise it up, like setting it on a box or bucket, it'll still shine a line where you need it to.

This laser is simple to use and it works well indoors. It was useless for me outdoors, even on a completely cloudy day. There was no point in trying it outdoors on a sunny day. I did try it outdoors after dark and it worked well. I wish I had it years ago for tile work indoors. I REALLY like the way this unit is designed. It can be backed into a corner of a room so that it rests against both walls. I had an earlier version of this general type of right angle laser, and the back of it was rounded. From a top down view, it looked like a piece of pie or wedge of cheese. It could not be registered against anything. I really disliked that design. The Bosch design is much better. I also like the way this Bosch laser tool projects the lines a short distance up the walls. This allows me to put registration marks on the wall. Marks on the floor will eventually be covered up by the floor covering. Marks on the wall won't suffer that fate. I would recommend this tool.

I used it for the first time last week while doing a 400+ sq ft tile job here on Long Island in NY. At first I thought thought the laser light wasn't strong enough but after playing with it for a few minutes right on the tiles I found it to be quite sufficient light wise. I marked some layout lines with my chalk line and square to see how close the tool came to them and I have to say it was within a 1/8-+" of my lines. I'm guessing that it was my lines that may have been off but even splitting that I'd have to say it's real accurate. The room I was doing was about 13'x31'. Another nice thing is the laser line jumps right over my spacers which I used sticking up from the tiles rather than set into the tiles..and the line falls back onto the edges of each tile. I HIGHLY recommend the Bosch GTL3. If I had to do it all over again I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I have other lasers, but I needed to install just over 1,000 sq. ft. of brick pavers in a herringbone pattern. I needed a laser to make sure I stayed at an accurate 45 degree angle compared to the center line. If I got off of that accurate 45 then as I went through the house the entire pattern would be skewed wrong. This is the only laser I found that not only gave a square laser line, but also a 45 degree laser line. It worked perfect. It uses 4 AA batteries. The batteries lasted for the entire job. They lasted longer than my rechargeable lasers. This is not self leveling, but it doesn't need to be for floor layout. The red line is bright and thinner than other lasers I have. A thinner line is more accurate, so that is a good thing. This laser line gives a starting point and the body of the laser doesn't interfere with the tile. Some lasers get in the way of the square corner line. It has an automatic shut off after 30 minutes. At times I appreciated it and at other times it was an irritation because I had to get up and turn it back on. It is stable and simple to use. My only minor issue is it doesn't extend a line in both directions in front of and behind the laser. I like to set a laser in the middle of my line and have it extend both directions and this one doesn't do that. But that is minor and it worked great for my needs. It will get regular use even when I don't need the 45 degree angle. And when I do need there is no other alternative.

This tool has been an absolute lifesaver for me, as a DIY enthusiast with limited tile work experience, who was looking for an alternative to replacing the carpet in my basement. It helped me maintain proper alignment throughout the entire process, and I highly recommend it to others looking to take on similar projects. Although it may be a bit pricey, it has already proven its durability, as it kept aligned and bright even after I accidentally dropped my saw horse table on it.

I got this tool to see if it would help as far as snapping chalk lines and getting the room square to get the best fit and making all cuts to the back of a room. Let me tell you this laser is 1 on the best investments I have made. Just used it to do an 1800 sq ft floor and it was as good as it gets as far as straight and even lines. I'm a contractor and have been laying tiles for over 10 years and this makes it easy. As far as price. I think you get what you pay for and paid for itself on the first use.

Exactly what was advertised. I am disappointed in the product. I thought it would be more precise in laying out my island kitchen - this is why I only gave it 3 stars. If you are not careful and keep paying attention it will throw you off. I found it is better to actually lay your tile out with spacers before starting. I did find it is great tool to span the laser down the room to what the cuts will be like as you are laying out your job.

Fonctionne à merveille , très efficace, la base aimanté est un atouts intéressant avec la plaque métallique. Très utiles pour définir les espaces lorsqu'ont analyse les grandeur de pièces à créé cela donne un aperçue rapide et réaliste. Fonctionne bien pour le carrelage, crée des alignement rapide et avec moins de traçage, et comme les ligne remonte légèrement sur les murs cela aide à tracer les enlignement murs/plancher aussi. Rien de négatif à dire pour le moment.

I gotta give this thing props, it does a nice job at squaring a room quickly and accurately. The raised position of the lasers helps the beam skip over uneven terrain like tile to surface, over floor drains and obstructions about an inch tall so your pencil or next piece of tile won't interrupt your beam. It's a winner in my books, been laying tiles for 16 years and my father has been at it over 50 and even he see's the value in this tool, his words were "I wish we had things like this when I was young..." saves a lot of time on the job.

I kind of thought that this may be a novelty and I would find some reason to not want to use it, I was wrong. Not having to figure out a square (perpendicular) line to snap is very time saving. This tool quickly allows me to see how square or how out of square two walls are. Especially useful in small rooms!

Expensive but worth every penny. I have had numerous makes that have been useful but all suffer from the same problem. They are too close to the ground and become useless on uneven floors. This becomes a problem when I’m in an old house and want to use it for tracing joists or running lines along plaster walls. The raised laser beams solve all these problems. The problem of the weak intensity of other lasers units aren’t as much of a problem since this unit has a much stronger output.
