Buy now; the only ice cream scoop you need
Okay, this product right here is an absolute necessity. Do not buy any other ice cream ladle or scoop ever againโjust buy this. Quite literally, there is nothing better than this product. I have never had a better time making ice cream. Half of me wanted to go through the process of scooping out the ice cream and then putting it back into the container just because of how much fun it is to use. Genuinely speaking, I have never had more spherical ice cream scoops in my life. I got the smaller version because it is meant to help with my diet while still allowing me to have a little bit of ice cream (I just do three or four scoops), but I am definitely going to get the bigger ones later on. This is also the perfect stocking stuffer. If you know people who like ice creamโwhich is everyoneโthis is a great housewarming gift. It is life-changing; you are going to love eating ice cream even more with this product. A few more points: 1. It feels premium: the handle is great, and the weight feels nice and sturdy. 2. It is very easy to clean. 3. The technology is patented: it is almost criminal that they are the only ones doing this, but since they patented the technology, I can't really blame them. Genuinely speaking, you shouldn't even be reading this review anymore; you should be putting this in your cart right now and buying it.

Worth Every Penny, Eat Smart and Buy Smart!
FYI : NO DISHWASHER! You just need water and rinse it. Great for scooping ice cream. ๐จ ๐จ ๐จ ๐จ ๐จ Want to collect other sizes too. ๐ You need this scoop for a quality ice cream and here is why! Youโre welcome ๐ Eat smart, buy smart!! Now go get a gooooooood & yummy ice cream for yourself! ๐ Fun fact ๐ก : Ice cream overrun means the amount of air incorporated into ice cream during freezing and churning. For example, if you start with 1 liter of ice cream mix and end up with: * 1.2 L โ 20% overrun โ very dense and rich * 1.5 L โ 50% overrun โ moderately airy * 2.0 L โ 100% overrun โ much lighter and fluffier So, in general: Lower overrun = less air = denser, richer ice cream. Higher overrun = more air = lighter, fluffier ice cream. Thatโs one reason Hรคagen-Dazs feels so dense and heavy compared with many mainstream American ice creams. It uses relatively little incorporated air, along with a high fat/solids content. A useful phrase when shopping is: โlow-overrun ice creamโ or โdense, premium ice cream with low overrun.โ So if you want Hรคagen-Dazs-style ice cream, look for low overrun + high butterfat + a simple ingredient list.

It does work as advertised. Awesome gadget to create round scoops of ice cream.
The heat transfer from the handle to the scoop really does work. Much easier to use with hard ice cream than the flat scoop. My spouse still prefers the flat scoop because he likes to layer his ice cream. I prefer this one because I can create round balls. I don't have a lot of hand strength and when I scooped, it created a curl with an air pocket inside. I think with a little more force and/or finesse I could get a solid ball. Any way, I love it.

Yes, it really does work; a very nice ice cream scoop
OK, so, right off the bat I need to say that, no, this ice cream scoop is not magic. It will not make scooping hard ice cream like putting a hot knife through butter. It is not DRAMATICALLY better than a scoop that has less heat conduction than the aluminum and refrigerant construction. I once read about an ice cream scoop that had an insulated handle with a hollow interior, into which you would pour boiling hot water, plug it up, then use right away on the ice cream. Now THAT scoop was probably very much like using a hot knife on butter (or on ice cream, anyway)! I don't know if it's still made or not, but I wouldn't be interested even if it was, as it would be too much trouble to have to charge the scoop with very hot (or near-boiling) water every time you wanted to use it. But, anyway, the point is that if you are expecting something like that, you will not find it here in this Zeroll Original Ice Cream scoop. However, that said, I have to tell you that after we got this scoop, my wife asked me if I had turned down the temperature of the freezer because she found it noticeably easier to scoop out ice cream! I had not, of course, altered any of the settings on our fridge (and we do keep the freezer quite cold--the hard ice cream is definitely HARD--hence the reason I bought this scoop). So, yes, this scoop really does work. It really does make a difference. It's just not a dramatic one. And, for it to work, you need to scoop out your ice cream a bit on the slow side. If you try to dig it out of there at top speed, you probably won't find this scoop to make much of a difference and will just be annoyed at not being able to run it through the dish washer. But if you take a reasonable amount of time, and let the heat transfer do its thing, you will find it to be noticeably easier to scoop out your hard ice cream from the container. And the same goes for getting a ball of ice cream to release from the scoop: it may take a few seconds to fall off--but fall off it will; you just need to have a little patience. Beyond the heat conductive design, the ergonomics of this scoop are really great. It's made just so. The handle is a lovely size and shape; the scoop is a lovely size and shape; it allows you to create near perfect balls of ice cream, if that is what you desire. The aluminum is nice and shiny, although it does scratch easily (being aluminum). Of course, by the same token, it will also polish back up easily if you need a mirror finish on all your kitchen utensiles. We keep ours sitting out in a utensile jar on the counter and it looks great. The only thing I will say on the "con" side of things is that I wish I had gotten the next larger size (the 16-green one) than the one I got (the 20-gold one), as a slightly larger ball would look better on top of a sugar cone. However, it's not a big deal and the 20-gold 2 ounce scoop makes a large enough ball to work just fine with the standard sugar cones.

Interesting idea, but defective product or poor execution
Works well for scoops straight across containers, and the scoop feels sturdy and is comfortable to grip. When it arrived, however, it was covered in oil - the heat transfer fluid seems to have leaked. This could be an issue of trapped air in the fluid cavity that expanded when shipping up to altitude. If the scoops are flown anywhere though, the maximum altitude they experience is greater than the altitude where I live, so maybe the scoop I received is just defective -? I wouldnโt be surprised if they are only trucked places (not flown). Either way, it has only been hand washed but it continues to leak heat transfer fluid from the bottom of the handle - in the attached picture, you can see a drop building up on the bottom of the handle after about 2 hours of hanging upright... Itโs also worth being aware that the end of the scoop is sharp and rough - I sliced the back of my finger when washing it for the first timeโฆ So far, I wouldnโt recommend it if you live at an altitude where things tend to arrive inflated or expandedโฆ

Effective but not perfect
After getting fed up with scooping ice cream with typical large kitchen spoons I decided to break down and spend a little more for something "proper." The wife asking for it for her birthday helped too. We got it shipped, it was opened, it was shiny and it cut into ice cream like a dream. It was the kind of pleasant experience that makes you question why you didn't experience it sooner. The portion size is good. I would have liked it to be a little thicker at the neck portion or have some form of thumb groove to help dexterity, but as is, it works well. How much the heat conducting fluid contributes to the scoop's ease of use is very hard for me to tell, but given how much easier it is to work with this vice a regular spoon, I have to lean toward it being somewhat useful. I am taking off a star for a combination of two things. Item number one: Not dishwasher safe. This is only a minor complaint and not a dealbreaker for me. Item Two: Despite never going through the dishwasher, the nice silver reflective finish is absolutely gone in a couple washings. The finish is now a dull gray and there is some pitting in the scoop portion itself, but no rust or flaking. Overall, it functions wonderfully, but it would be nice if it still looked like new more than a week after first use.

Works well
This scoop cuts through hard ice cream pretty well. Much better than using a spoon.

Do not even think about putting it in the dishwaser!!! Don't do it.
Great addition to our kitchen tools. Except: I'm one of those people who does not read the instructions. Never put a traditional aluminum Zeroll ice cream scoop in the dishwasher. The harsh detergents and high heat will permanently tarnish and discolor the aluminum, and it can damage or destroy the heat-conductive fluid inside the handle. Ask me how I know. I ordered another one. Love it.

Best ice cream scoop.
I love this ice cream scoop. It definitely is the best that I've used. I did ruin one by washing it a dish washer by mistake, but as long as you hand wash this you will have no problem. I think it's definitely worth it even with that. This will take the heat from your hands and go right through ice cream, even if it is super frozen. Because there is no moving parts either, you can really put muscle into it if you need to, but you probably won't need to! The ice cream will form into a good shaped ball, and come off the scoop very easily too.

Sturdy and does what it advertises well
Great feeling handle and build inspires confidence with every scoop. Marvel at the beautiful curls of creamy ice cream as you scoop effortlessly. Who would have guessed scooping ice cream could be so satisfying.

No better ice cream scooper. WARNING: handle like you would an exotic sports car: hand wash only!
I have gone through more scoppers (and money) than I can remember - Stainless steel, plastic, silicone tipped, a combination of these, some with with levers, pushers, some with both. They mostly start of well, but all eventually failed by either rusting, chipping, coatings flaking off, or flat out just snapping or breaking apart in my hands while using. The exception to this has been with Zeroll! Not cheap - never have been, but damn these Americans know what they are doing! And no they are not just 'designed' in the USA but made there as well. Aluminium body so YES you MUST take extra care to ONLY hand wash it and dry it throughly shortly therafter to prevent oxidation (that ugly black/grey residue). If you had a luxury or exotic sports car that you were proud of and cared about would you just drive it through your gas station's car wash? Same goes for this. If you follow that simple rule this scooper will last you for many years to come. I have had the 2oz for maybe 10 years now and other than some scratches it has held up beautifully - no leaks or oxidation. Only reason I am getting a new one now is that someone 'borrwed it' for a kids ice cream birthday party and likely realized how great it is and is not handing it back any time soon it seems. The design works and i effortlessly scoop through even the most stubborn of dense/custard base ice creams with ease. I have recently purchased their 'spade' specifically for gelati as I have started to make my own and that too is just a work of art, allowing me to 'work' the gelato before serving and getting a perfect creamy, dense, and slightly softer/lower temperature product that has a velvety smooth mouthfeel comapred to just using a regular scooper. In short: save your money and time and get a Zeroll, but only if you are prepared to handle it with the care it deserves. If you do, it will likely outlast you! Don't make the mistake I did years ago by throwing away hard earned money and years on inferior made scoppers made out of who knows what materials most of the times that WILL break, and produced who knows where when we have a proper manufacturer right here in North America. FULL DISCLOSURE: I have never in the past, nor do I currently work for, nor have any friends or family that work for or have ever worked for Zeroll - i just very much am a huge fan of their superbly crafted scoopers and spades. The fact that they are made in the USA is also a huge plus as we support local business in the process!
