Bayer Ascensia Breeze 2 Blood Glucose Monitoring System

This unit is described as "BRAND NEW KIT IN SEALED BOX ". Not! I really like the Bayer Breeze 2. I had one that broke when it hit the floor , so I ordered this one. It works fine, however it was NOT in a sealed box. My original which was covered by insurance included a lancer and a control solution. This box only had the meter and a manual. No sample test disk, or lancer or sample lancets. So, be aware that this is NOT a "BRAND NEW KIT IN SEALED BOX ". While the Bayer Breeze 2 is a unit I most highly recommend, this one is not what is advertised. If it were a sealed box, I would have most happily given it the maximum five stars!(UPDATE - 01-31-2016) I just found out that the case included in the box was not even the case that should have come with this meter. So I have lowered my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars. Shame on this company for selling things like this.

Easy to set-up and use. The box did not come with a lancet device; good thing I had one from my old Accu-chek. I attempted to go on the Bayer site to do the warranty, but that page no longer exists. I then went to the Bayer home page and found that the Breeze 2 is apparently no longer being made. There was a page explaining how to use this "Classic" device, so I'm assuming they consider it an obsolete device. As far as I know, the test strip cartridges are still available. The meter does have the capability to be plugged into a computer, but the cord doesn't come with it, and I wonder if that is still supported by Bayer for this device. All very disappointing, since my insurance company insists on using Bayer.

The pic is misleading because the meter kit does not come with test strip disc. Guess I should have read item description closer. Just ordered test strip discs. Kit comes with 10 lancets. The control solution is to verify accuracy of tester.

It eats strips! The monitor sometimes doesn't show the right thing and it wasted a lot of strips! not as good as i expected!

An accurate meter is essential to the well-being and functionality of a diabetic. You must know what your blood sugar readings are to determine the amount of insulin you require to prevent strokes and heart attacks. I have been utilizing Bayer's meter since the onset of diabetes and have reached a ripe old age without suffering the results of High blood sugar. Thank you Bayer and Amazon for always having the things I need!

Good quality meter...Easy to use and has up to date features from the simple meter I was using....And to pay out of pocket, it is a very affordable meter, as well....That's a plus...
