How to Create Your Ideal Body Once and For All When you're trying to lose weight, it's reasonable to want to lose body fat in specific areas. You want flat abs, a tighter tummy, leaner legs, or less flabby arms. But often you're told it just isn't possible. Nonsense! I have seen my clients get the results they want faster than ever with a customized approach—helping them become their own diet detective to find which foods work best for their body. And now I want to share what I've discovered with you so you can have the body and confidence you desire. Avoid the Diet Myths and Short-Term Gains That Do More Harm Than Good The problem with the health and fitness industry is that it makes people think they are weak and that the best way to achieve the body they want is to suck it up and push harder. Just look at the most popular TV shows like the Biggest Loser where the trainers exhaust the participants with 8 hours of exercise per day and put them on an extremely low-calorie diet. But if more is better, why do the majority of these participants rebound and gain all of their weight back again and again? The truth is you’re stronger than you think. It isn’t that you somehow lack willpower or discipline; it’s that you just don’t have the right heuristics yet, which a mentor of mine once defined as the ability to make a decision based on limited amounts of information. The beauty of a heuristic is that it doesn’t drain your willpower like calorie-counting or other fad diets may. In this book, I’ll share with you how to craft your own diet heuristic so you can make good eating decisions no matter where you are or how much willpower you have. How to Create Unstoppable Momentum The hardest part about getting in shape and losing weight is taking the first step, so don’t worry if you’ve never been able to achieve your weight loss goals before. We tend to believe failure begets failure, but nearly all success stories begin with generous amounts of failure. If you’ve tried diets before that didn’t work, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you or your body! You don’t have to worry about failing anymore because what I’m going to teach you isn’t a diet—it’s a way of thinking. With the right perspective, you’ll be able to look at nutrition and fat loss differently and make decisions that will get you results for life. No More Weight Loss Gimmicks! I know what you may be thinking: this sounds like just another "quick fix" weight loss gimmick. How could it be that you can eat flavorful, satiating foods and actually lose weight? Believe me, I thought the same thing when I began to study nutrition in depth years ago. But what I found is that our bodies aren’t programmed for obesity. Of course, everyone has their own individual, natural set point when it comes to weight. But when we began eating unnatural, processed foods, vegetable oils and refined carbohydrates for example, we shift the nature of our body toward fat storage rather than fat burn. By avoiding foods that force your body to store fat, you can lose weight quickly and easily. In this book, I’m going to provide you with the tools to eat well while reaching your goals quickly. While your naysayers are counting calories, feeling deprived, and still struggling to lose weight, you’ll be vibrant, full of energy and supercharging your metabolism for sustained fat loss. Review: Well researched, obviously knowledgeable. - Actually, I knew some of the facts about fat being good for you so I was interested to find out more about this subject. The author gets detailed on the chemistry of foods and the body, the way the body breaks down foods, what types of food are good, and bad. I've been eating "healthy" for 20 years now, meaning, I rarely eat meat, mostly veggies, stay away from processed foods, sugars, etc and have been watching, reading and learning about the health, exercise industry for 20 years. I thought I was pretty well informed, and I learned a lot from this book. I particularly enjoyed the aspect on body chemistry and why certain foods are good/bad for you, not just that they are, but why they are and how to make better choices. I'm looking forward to implementing many of the easy actionable advice given in this book, and I highly recommend it not just to people interested in health and food, but everyone that wants to enjoy food more. Review: ~~ Despite what you may have been told, good fats are HEALTHY! ~~ - Let's get one point straight right at the beginning. This book is NOT written for the couch potato but rather is written for anyone that is exercising/working out and wanting to build muscle quickly and efficiently whilst nourishing their body at the same time. This is NOT a fad diet book. The author is a fitness trainer. This book is for ACTIVE people so definitely not for everyone. Saying all that I read it with an open mind. I found some parts to be interesting and I did learn some things whilst there were some points I already knew. This is NOT a diet that I will be doing but that is not because I don't agree with it but we already live a healthy lifestyle having cut out many of the "baddies" preferring to nourish our bodies with good, wholesome food PLUS we are not into bodybuilding either! Fact #1 - Fat will not make you fat. As the author says at the end of his book, the days of relying on the government food pyramid are over. Do your own research and you will soon learn how damaging those "do not eat" fads are! Fact #2 - Many essential vitamins and minerals come from fat. Fact #3 - Fats improve blood sugar stability. Fact #4 - Fats reduce cravings and keep you full. There's more but hopefully that will whet your appetite. Do you know what cholecystokinin is? Learn about it in this book! Is the author implying that we can eat any and all fats? NO! The author is a little wishy washy regarding the bad fats and good fats as he does not talk about the different ways fats can be processed: refined, unrefined etc. which can also determine the quality of the fat. He does talk about the dangers of oxidation. What are the worst enemies of fat metabolism? Ever heard of leptin resistance? Why does this author recommend avoiding carrageenan? What is osteocalcin? Are you a Paleo advocate? This author looks at the myths and the truths. What's the most important nutrient your body needs? Water! Are you using 'real' salt or refined table salt? If your answer is "refined table salt" then you are missing out on 82 essential minerals! Yes, it's that bad! It is reported that 95% of the population is deficient in essential fatty acids! Cure? Fermented fish oil! I have read many opinions regarding meal timing but this author places priority on eating the right food. With that said, in the 28 day menu plan towards the end of the book he provides three meals a day plus snacks. There is a LOT of information in this book, some of which is more on the technical side. Author even goes into the 'Blood Type Diet'. He is a big supporter of Weston A. Price. You will also find information on working out, when and what to eat before and after. As mentioned above, the reader is provided with a 28 day menu plan along with weekly shopping lists and recipes. There is only a basic GO TO menu on the Kindle version so you will need to bookmark your favorite recipes etc. I was surprised to see white rice flour and confectioner's sugar in some of the recipes. However I should add that these items are in small proportions. This book came over as very genuine and if you are someone that is looking to get fit and wanting to change your poor eating habits for good ones this may be a good book to start with. You will need a good source of raw milk, cheese etc. I was provided this book by the author. My review has not been influenced by that fact. What is written above are my true thoughts and opinion. Thanks, Liz

Well researched book on nutrition and exercise!
Excellent book based on the latest research on nutrition, specifically referring to the value of healthy fats which have the best bioavailability of many essential vitamins and minerals. Kush Karvandi is obviously quite knowledgeable about nutrition and exercise. Beyond the presentation of what the body technically needs, I also learned the specific foods to bring about a great state of health. Specific menus and shopping lists are great to have! Fantastic looking recipes make this program something to look forward to. I would definitely recommend this book but would suggest you get the soft-back cover so the recipes are more readily available.

... not very useful for an average person to apply in daily life for better health.

Great easy to use information!
As a wellness practitioner of many years I'm glad to find a clear easy read that I can recommend for my clients as a resource to aid them in their health, fitness, and longevity pursuits. What I like most about this particular book is its ability to simplify and explain how our bodies use energy, and some simple steps to take to ensure that the food you're eating is supporting your health and not simply following the mainstream propaganda for low-fat diets(which cause many health issues) nor the non-health supporting practices of high-protein bodybuilder diets.

Eat Fat get Gallstones and Heart Attack
Okay, some fat is essential. But the idea that you can load up on fat and be fit in a world where couch potato is a way of life is just wrong. You can't eat fat, in large quantities, and expect to be healthy. Fat, to much of it, is what is wrong with the world's waistline today. I think this book is just another "fad of the moment". By the way, don't eat low fat either. The filler for low fat is sugar. The other reason the world has a PLUS XXXX waist line.

A Counterpoint to the Low Fat Diet
Diet fads come and go. We’ve had the low fat diet, the low carb diet, the South Beach Diet, the Atkins Diet and others. From current research it seems clear that any diet that insists on not eating one type of food is not going to work for all people. I enjoyed this book. It makes the point that diets need to be individualized and that eating fat is not the real problem. The book contains a great deal of information on current research. Karvandi, a fitness coach, explains the current finding in language easy to understand by anyone interested in nutrition. He explains fat metabolism and goes into detail about how it keeps the body function in a healthy way. If you read a lot of nutrition advice, the book doesn’t present anything new, but it is explained well. I recommend this book for beginners or people who are interested in nutrition and don’t have much time to study it. In addition to the description of body function and recommendations for foods to eat and those to avoid, the author includes a number of recipes and a diet plan for those who want to try his method. This book is short, easy to read and even if you don’t plan to take on all his recommendations, you’ll learn a lot about food and exercise. I received this book from Net Galley for this review.
