The surface is smooth and cool which warms quickly to body temperature. The height is right and allows fingers to linger over the keys with ease of motion as needed. It's great as a product and my getting used to it was not because of product or workmanship, so I gave it a solid 5 stars. I do recommend this product. I ordered this, and have noticed an improvement in the pain. It's also easy to clean because it isn't covered in fabric. The only down side is that sometimes my wrists stick to it if I have been typing for a while. Nothing I can't deal with.
