I bought this mini scope for my two kids who are 8 and 10 years old. We are studying Galileo and I thought this would be a great introduction to how the telescope was first invented by Hans Lippershey. My kids love this mini scope. Because of their curiosity and desire to have fun, they used this mini scope in our backyard and found a small hummingbird nest in one of our redwood trees! In fact the mama was sitting in the nest! Just sitting there (all the hummingbirds I've ever seen are always moving fast). In addition, they found a toddler(?) hummingbird standing on a branch waiting to be fed by the dad. Since my kids found the first nest, we have since found a second one. We would not have known about these nests if it were not for the mini scope, because it's too hard to see their small nests with the naked eye.This mini scope has a nice feel to it. It's a nice weight and doesn't feel cheap. The lenses are clear and you can focus easily with it. It also comes with a small case and lens cloth. This is a high quality mini scope that is compact, you can take it anywhere. We plan on taking it with us when we go for walks or bike rides.

Just excellent and at such a great price.The focus and images are VERY clear, with excellent magnification. This is a small scope, perfect, solid, excellent. Utterly valuable. The team I put this with uses this as part of a security team protecting celebrity clients and movie studio people at entertainment events in Los Angeles. LaLa land. But the events attract trouble, too. We cannot use names, but a large event was done for a studio that now has a live action movie for what was a hit children's cartoon. The security folks can easily see a city block or more with this. The scope is unobtrusive. Much better than a giant pair of 50mm binoculars that everyone sees. The big scanners give people, the public an uneasy feeling of military operations. But with this small unit, guys can quickly get an idea, is THE person just a fan? Is that a PHONE in his hand? Is he wearing GLOVES? What type? Why? Is that a cane? Is it a happy fan looking for a SELFIE or other? Is the visage that of insanity, intoxication, mental illness, happy fan joy, what are we looking at. You can tell a lot by faces. And in close, hands. Is that a homeless person? Are they okay? The guys can scan a crowd. Check vehicles. Check people within them. Scan the large trucks on the perimeter. Is he slowing for a delivery? Check license numbers. Is that one on the list. Even see the screen on a phone from 200 feet. The clarity it magnificent. These are keeping people safe, with just a quick, magnified glance. And the public is safe and the officers are safe and reassured by just putting up this powerful tiny little scope and checking out what they need.

Received mine today and my first impression about the build quality, slightly less than I was anticipating. I expected it to be plastic feeling and light but keep reading. When it comes to specifications and stats, Amazon is absolutely abhorrent about posting accurate product weights/dimensions/etc. and that's if they post any specifications at all. I've seen the ROXANT listed anywhere from 4.8oz to 2.8oz. The actual product weight: 1.4oz or 40 grams. The little pocket case is .4oz or 13 grams and it's feather light. The size of the scope was very close to anticipated. Knowing that it had a 18mm objective lens I figured the body would be about 25mm. The actual diameter is 27.5mm, pretty close. Amazon lists it at 1.5" (substantially larger than actual). The length, as anticipated, was also way shorter than the advertised 5". The actual dimensions are 75 x 27.5mm or 3" x 1.1" (not 4 x 5 x 1.5 inches as advertised) and even the box dimensions weren't that big.I'm an optics guy and own multi-thousand dollar binoculars & spotting scopes from Nikon, Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss, and a few monoculars costing substantially less but of reasonable quality. One very decent optic is the Vortex Solo 8x25 at about $50. I rate the Solo about a 7.5 out of 10 optically! I was expecting less optically out of the ROXANT and was guessing it would probably be about a 5, however It's closer to a 3.5 out of 10 for me. The view is actually reasonable for the price but $19 doesn't really get you a whole lot. The view is just kind of soft in the center and gets worse toward the edge of the FOV, becoming really noticeable about 40% from center to edge. Yes, the magnification does allow one to see more detail but I wouldn't say it's an enjoyable or comfortable view. It's a strained view which by its 7x nature, is able to provide more detail than the naked eye. With that said, I was able to identify a Southwest Airliner's paint scheme and see that it was a 737-300 at an altitude of about 12,000 feet and I'm able to read license plates about 60-80 yards in daylight if I steady myself against an car or tree. It allows for the identification of common birds and other objects but it's not a sharp or satisfying view, more of a labored view.Some negative reviews stated that the ROXANT "is not 7x magnification and is perhaps 2x at the most." This is absolutely incorrect and posted by people who likely have no familiarity or understanding of optics. I measured the magnification at about 6.4x based off of measurements with my naked eye. In other words, objects viewed through the scope were 6.4x larger than in my opposite eye and I have little doubt that the ocular lens is an inexpensive, industry 7x eyepiece. The objective lens size is very close to 18mm, as advertised. It has a somewhat decent lens coatings on the objective, which surprised me at this price point.I rate the ROXANT 3 stars because "it's okay" for the money. For about $50 the Vortex solo 8x25 is significantly better, both in build quality and optics/view, albeit in a slightly larger format. This scope boarders on being toy-like but if you don't own other optics and/or don't plan on comparing it to other similarly sized optics in the $50-75 range, then you might be perfectly pleased for $19. I personally wouldn't spend $1 more but feel that this scope is probably priced pretty close to what it should be.
