United Ortho 61016 3-Panel Knee Immobilizer, 16" Size

Its a high quality brace in every single way, it immobilizes my knee as good as the bigger bulky brace from my doctor. but it does have one flaw. The strap right above the knee rubs against the skin. The padding under the strap doesn't cover the skin so the rough nylon strap will rub against the skin. It doesn't matter how you adjust the strap, it will either rub, or velcro wont stick. I dont think it will be a big deal for most people since we will likely wear the brace over our pants. But this is definitely a small design flow that could've even avoided with better planning

Works good! It slides down after awhile, but that’s to be expected with any brace of this type. It feels decently durable, easy to use and comfortable. It has a wide variety of adjustments, so it can fit most legs. It supports the knee and leg well while stabilizing it.

I dislocated my kneecap for the fifth time over the course of 46 years. At age 60, this one surprised me because I am active but not playing sports to put extra stress on my knees. However, one awkward step and out went the kneecap again. The ER sent me home in a huge, long, immobilizing brace, which was so uncomfortable and started to give me a rash on my leg, I ordered this United Ortho brace as a substitute. It is adjustable by moving the side panels via Velcro, so it will fit a number of sizes. The straps are large and secure well. The only massively annoying thing are the back bracing rods. Whoever makes these braces does not wear them for extended periods of time or else they would find that the ends of the rods dig horribly into the calf and thigh. After two days of about losing my mind with the pain of these rods poking into my leg, I cut tiny holes on the inside of the brace and removed the three back rods. Utter relief!!! While I can bend my knee ever so slightly now, the side stability rods keep my knee mostly immobilized and my sanity intact! I got the 16” length and it was good on my longer length thigh. I am 6’ tall, 150 lbs. I did buy a thin, cotton leg sleeve to wear underneath the brace, and for extra kneecap security, I also pull on a simple elastic compression brace over the sleeve but under this immobilizer. My knee feels very secure and supported until I can move to a walking brace. I recommend this brace but only with the modification of removing the back rods (unless they don’t hit you in an uncomfortable spot).

A lot of reviewers don’t seem to know this, but the sides of this brace completely come off. You can move them forward several inches until they close properly over your leg. I was able to get it closed over my leg fully and I am about a Women’s Size 14. My issue is that the design is even more uncomfortable than it needs to be. The strap sits RIGHT against your kneecap, which is not ideal since my kneecap is broken. It slides down when you walk and places more pressure on your kneecap, no matter how tight it is. It also needs more padding at the top and bottom of the brace so that it does not rub so much. It gave me the support I needed but it was horribly uncomfortable the whole time.

This is was a real SLEEP saver....I injured my knee and was unable to keep my leg straight while I slept. The pain was horrible when I bent my leg. This immobilizer is super, it keeps my leg in the straight position while sleeping, which, is speeding up the recovery. I am 5'2' tall and the 12 was the perfect size. Light weight and well padded.

I had a knee immobilizer from years ago that I got from the ED after a sever knee injury. I recently twisted that same knee but the old immobilizer was worn out and the metal was poking me, so I have been looking for a replacement. I ordered this one thinking it looked very similar and would work. I was very wrong. The padding is not good at all. The metal supports are in the wrong places and push on pain points for ACL area. I know its adjustable, but I actually think that's the issue. I ended up having a double layer right in the area of pain, and not enough cushion in areas it should have had more. This knee brace was returned as I couldn't even wear it for more than 10 min.

I bought this to replace the immobilizer I was given in the hospital. It greatly exceeded my expectations and was comfortable, but worked perfectly!

Nice quality construction. Incredible adjustability. From women's size 0 to over size 24 is not an issue. Better instructions might be nice. There is a velcro strap I have no idea how to use. Perhaps it helps when the device is expanded for larger legs. I couldn't tell you as the instructions didn't say. I would recommend this product if you need one though. Excellent value for money!
