The members of the group are Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitars), Nathan East (bass), and Harvey Mason (drums). The group has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by grafting elements of R&B and pop to jazz, appealing to a broad mainstream audience. Their debut album, Fourplay (1991), sold over a million copies and remained at the #1 position on the Billboard contemporary jazz chart for 33 weeks.

Brilliant Fourplay Compilation
This is a superb compilation from the performances of the first Fourplay group with Lee Ritenour on guitar. Very enjoyable, happy music.

Great seller, great album
Bought this used. I believe the description said it was in excellent condition. Perfect would have been more accurate. I don't think there's even a scratch on the case. The CD was perfect. It ripped in one pass, all is good. I'll buy from this seller again for sure.I listened to the album last night and liked it a lot. Whoever engineers their music is very talented and I can understand why some others use this as a reference album. It really is amazing.

Great AVR reference album and solid best-of for Fourplay
If you like Fourplay but do not have interest in collecting their older albums - this is a solid single-disc collection. I'm not a huge Fourplay fan, but really enjoy some of their work - and this hits the spot for me.This is also a useful collection for testing and tuning reference-grade stereo and AVR equipment. Most of the songs on this album are well-recorded and clearly mastered, and the songs themselves have a nice frequency range especially with the sub-100hz string bass sections on several of the songs.

Simply the best recording and a must have.
This collection is my 'go to' CD when testing sound systems. The recording is absolutely fantastic. I modify Hafler Amps in my spare time and when I'm done, this is the first CD I listen to to check my work. If this CD sounds great, then I know I've done my job well. I think this CD is a great evaluation tool. Good selection of their hits. If there's a 'Best of Fourplay 2' I want that too!

-A good contribution to a solid modern jazz collection
Foreplay is Spirogyra on Quaaludes -a bit subdued but no less rich in complex jazz harmony and counterpoint. To my way of thinking, they are the late-night segue from the more intense Spiro into an evening in which you actually intend to sleep. -A good contribution to a solid modern jazz collection.
