Works perfectly - updated 12-5-20
I bought one of these voltage converters to power a 1980s era portable stereo (Skitronic Discolite) that I just bought from a seller in Turkey. It was never originally sold in the US so it only accepts 220 V, 50 Hz AC power. Its power cord also has a Type C plug on the end. This Litefuze 300 W voltage converter works perfect for powering my new (to me) portable stereo. It has a built-in plug adapter socket that easily accepts all kinds of different plugs, including the Type C on my portable stereo. I have been using this new voltage converter continuously for about an hour a day for a week with no problems at all. I like how it has an illuminated on/off switch on the side to turn it off without having to unplug it from the wall outlet. That is a nice feature that saves me from the hassle of unplugging it every time just to turn it off. Keep in mind though that my portable stereo is only rated by the manufacturer to use 35 W of input power so I am not pushing this voltage converter anywhere near its rated 300 W capacity. Thus, I do not know how well it works when pushed near its limits. My converter is barely breaking a sweat so it does not get warm at all. When I read the negative reviews of this unit, I suspect that many people are trying to draw more power out of than it can provide. All that I know for certain is that I have not experienced any of the problems that those other reviews mentioned. Overall I am very happy with this unit and it works perfectly for my use. I can now power audio equipment from overseas without any problems. Update from 12-5-20: It has been almost a year since I bought this LiteFuze LC-300US voltage converter and it is still working flawlessly to power my Discolite boombox. I liked it so much that I bought another one that is the exact same except that it has the higher 500 Watt power output rating. (That second one is model number LiteFuze LC-500US.) That second unit is also working perfectly and I have no complaints about it. I included some pictures that I just took this morning of my LiteFuze LC-300US powering my Discolite boombox. I also included a picture showing the Type C plug (sometimes called a "Europlug") on my boombox that plugs directly into the socket on the LC-300US without the need for any kind of plug adapter. I still stand by my original review and this voltage converter is great!

Good quality built but please be noticed on AC-frequencies varying 60/50Hz
I received the item exactly as advertised, 100% satisfied with the seller. An international shipment fulfilled by Amazon.com to my country and received faster than estimated date! Amazon.com always provide excellent service direct to my homeland address outside the USA, many Thanks to their shipping! Back to the item, I bought it to be used in Malaysia, which the supply AC is 240V-50Hz. It has done the functionality as good as described, NO abnormal heat, NO noise/ vibration or hum effect and NO weird smell during its operation, excellent! The cover casing well-built, (not looks like cheap china), fitted with fused, neon-illuminated power switch and AC input selector switch (110/230V-AC). How ever a little drawback on safety features- NO internal cover plate at the output socket to hide/close the opening of metal parts when not plugged in, which barely seen. Could be dangerous risk of AC shock to children around, can easily slot their tiny finger into that opening. Operational Test: I had done simple test/measurement using a FLUKE 112 (TRUE RMS multi-meter) and found the output voltage is sharply at 120V after connecting to my home 240V, and it goes up to 124V when sometimes the input hits up to 249V. Very good, stable step down regulation. BUT.. one thing that not mentioned clearly is the AC frequency, means the HZ value! This transformer just converting the AC voltage BUT did NOT do anything to AC Hertz. I think that would gives effect when using with appliances that not an AC Hz tolerance. The phase shifts of sinusoidal AC will produce different power factor. Unless the appliances connected to this transformer can tolerates witihin 60-50hz variation. For example, If I plugged in this transformer to my home AC outlet of 240V-50Hz, the output of the LiteFuze would be 120V-50Hz, it didn't replicating the true USA 60Hz AC. Meant no change at AC frequency, hence that US AC adapter connected to LiteFuze will have the same Hz of frequency, which did not converting 50hz to 60hz. I don't know, whether that would be any voltage fluctuates or power factor issue. Another test, I did with the Black&Decker Dustbuster Cordless vacuum as it comes with AC adapter for North America electrical specification, rated as 110V-60Hz only.(-no tolerance of frequencies as usual worldwide AC adapter)) to step down voltage at 17V-AC (another unusual specs, why B&D applying AC voltage instead of clean DC to charge the internal battery). Then, when plugged the adapter to LiteFuze, the measured voltage output at the terminal jack hits up to 22V-AC, which brought 5 volts higher than specified in the product manual. I did not sure whether this wrong caused by LiteFuze converter nature behavior or the B&D ac charger turned wrong, but for sure enough to heat up/ failure to the electronics charging circuit inside the portable vacuum. I just came out with the hypothesis after done a simple measurement (FLUKE 112), but just to analyze what actually happen when operating this converter. Besides that, this is a good quality converter.

Burnt my beloved 25-year-old razor
My Barun razor has lasted for the past 25 years. It's a very old, compact, and well-made device that my sister gave to me as a gift when I first left my hometown. I brought it with me from country to country. It worked flawlessly to the day after I charged it on this new step-up converter. Before I used this charger, I measured the output voltage using my multi-meter, and it read 230v. Then, I plugged my Razor into it, the green light on my razor turned on, and everything seemed to be working properly. About a few minutes later, I heard a buzzing sound and noticed that the converter made weird noises. The light on the razor was suddenly off after that, and some terrible burning smell came out from my razor. Now, my beloved Razor is dead thanks to this good-looking and seemingly well-made converter. It is a tough lesson I learned - You should never judge by appearances; a poor heart may be under a rich coat.

Works great in a hot workshop and does not "burn my hand"
I have some wall-mounted oscillating fans that require a transformer. They have the European style plugs (not sure what those are called) with the two poles, and the original transformers were horrible. After running for about 5 minutes they were hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold in your hand, and in my workshop I believed them to be a fire hazard (sawdust, etc.). I purchased one of these for testing, and it works beautifully. Even in my shop, where temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees (farenheit), this transformer is only slightly warm to the touch. It also has an on/off rocker switch which makes it really nice for turning off the fans easily, which are high and out of reach. I will be purchasing a second one for the other fan in my shop.

Excellent well-made converter, but watch out for a few things.
Excellent product. I bought several of these and I actually use one as an everyday step-down converter for a TV and home theater I bought from USA where the voltage and my products are rated at 110-120V (in my country the national grid is 240V). There is a small switch which you set to your mains voltage - [An aside here: the values on this switch are 115V and 230V, but almost all appliances will work fine within a certain range, ie 110-120V and 220 to 240V]. The converter upconverts the incoming 110-120V to 220-240V output, or downconverts 220-240V to 110-120V by doing a simple 2-to-1 or 1-to-2. There is no conversion for the current (amps), only for the voltage. I sometimes hear a low buzzing noise from the converter when it has been running for several hours. I initially thought it was that particular unit, so i switched it, but the new one also had the same issue. But anyway even after a few months of this there doesn't seem to be any bad effects from the buzzing noise, and there's no overheating at all, so it's still 5 stars. And that acts as an alert that I've been watching TV too long! Some have complained that they received busted units, but all the 3 500W units I ordered in Oct.2014 were perfectly fine and intact. Others have said, and Litefuze themselves also advise this, but it bears repeating. If you plan on using it for more than an hour or so at a time, buy a converter that's at least double the wattage of the combined gadgets you'll be connecting to the converter. So in my case the stuff I'm connecting to the converter are: a TV rated at 142W, a Vizio soundbar rated about 10W, and my home theater at 12W. The math comes to 142+10+12=164W, so I needed one that's at least 164 x 2 = 328W. The closest to this is the 500W converter- it doesn't hurt to have the extra capacity. A few niggles: - I dont like the buzzing sound after several hours of use, but it's not loud and doesnt seem to have any more ill effects. - More serious, I wish the small switch to change the voltage was better hidden or more difficult to access. I have it set to '230V', so it converts my 240V to 120V. But if a bumbling someone were to accidentally change it to the '115V' setting (which is easy to do with the easily accessible switch), then I think what would happen is the 1-to-2 upconversion. So my actual 240V would be output as 480V, frying my electronics almost instantly! [Again, this is just my opinion based on my understanding of how the thing works and I'm no electrician. If this is wrong someone please comment on this post and correct me - I'll alter it immediately]. - The unit itself is quite heavy, about 300-500grams (half a kg). So take that into consideration if you are planning to use it for travel. I dont, so the weight isn't an issue for me. Overall though, these negatives are still minor enough for it to earn a full 5 stars. Excellent product!

Just kind of meh...overheats if on for too long
I bought this to use for a curling iron I mistakenly purchased that has UK prongs. It works like it's supposed to, and the iron functions satisfactorily. Only problems I have with this item are 1) it's heavy and bulky...not travel-friendly at all, and 2) it heats up VERY quickly once it's turned on, and starts to smell like burning plastic. Quite unsettling. Kind of annoying too, since I can't have my curling iron on for too long, or this thing starts to overheat. I'm not sure I'd purchase it again, but like I said, it does what it's supposed to, which is convert the power coming out of my outlet here in the states for my iron.
