GE Appliances is a Chinese company, and GE filters are manufactured in China with some assembly in the U.S

I checked the National Science Foundation website to determine where the filters are manufactured. Uncertain of the NSF results I pulled, I emailed the NSF and they got back to me in less than 24 hours. Per the NSF, the filter components are made in Tianjin, China. The label on the filter states that filter is "Made in the U.S. with globally sources components". I checked the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) website and there is no minimum parts requirement required to support the "Made in U.S. with globally sources components" statement. This filter is not Made in the USA.

According to Wikipedia, GE Appliances is an appliance company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky. It is owned by Haier, a Chinese conglomerate.

I currently have a GWF flter in my fridge. I just ordered this and it says MWF on it. Does it fit my GWF fridge?

For me, it does not fit. I purchased a MWF filter and it was extremely difficult to get it installed and it was never seated properly (it leaked). When I take off and put back on my GWF filter, the GWF filter goes on nicely. Then when I try to install the MWF filter, it is difficult. I was never able to get the MWF one installed.

What should be the tds (total dissolved solids) on a brand new mwf filter?

I live in Brooklyn, NY 11212 and my readings on tds from the tap is (47).  However, after its filtered through the refrigerator the tds reads (36).  I have purchase a zerowater filter pitcher and use it to drick water, cook meals, and make cube ice.  The process from what i understand is different, MWF water is forced through the filter while zerowater is a slow drip process giving me a reading of (OOO) tds.  Hope that helps.

Why doesn't my GE replacement filter say Smartwater on it?

Mine does too, but the filter is the right one. Works fine. I wondered the same thing.
