My Son Loves His New Stephen Train!
My three-and-a-half year old son loves Thomas and Friends and we have slowly been adding the wooden trains to his collection. He loves this series because they work really well with our table set, KidKraft Waterfall Mountain Train Set and Table and they are compatible with some of the less expensive wooden trains he's gotten as well. I like them because they are durable and have withstood many hours of his constant playing. We've had some trains in this series for almost a year and they are still in good shape. Some of the wooden trains have a bit of wear and tear on them and some of the paint has worn off the edges but overall, they look pretty good considering how much he uses them.My son earned a new toy and Stephen had been on his wish list for awhile. I've found a few places that carry this particular series of trains but the price is almost always the best on Amazon so we ordered it. He was incredibly excited to get his new toy in the mail and of course he wanted to play with it right away! This model of Stephen measures 3 3/4 inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide and 2 inches high at the highest point. He is made in China of wood, has magnets on the front and back so he can be attached with other trains, and has fairly realistic graphics. Stephen's nickname is "The Rocket" and "Rocket" is painted on both sides of Stephen. The wheels are plastic but they so far have been durable and we've never had problems with any falling off. I like that this series has the trains' names printed on the bottoms so you always know who is who, although my son somehow always seems to remember all of the trains and their names. Some of the trains in this series have buttons to press so they talk or make noises but Stephen doesn't make any sounds, therefore he doesn't need any batteries. The one thing I noticed with Stephen is that he doesn't look exactly like he does in the show. In the show, he has a large funnel but this train doesn't have one. He just has a small gold piece where the funnel would be. My son hasn't noticed, or he just hasn't said anything to me, but older kids might notice the difference.Overall, my son loves his new Stephen train and he has several more trains on his list. We've had good luck with this particular series and will continue to purchase them on here because there is a great selection at a good price. We've never purchased any of the plastic trains but if you have a Thomas fan and you want to start collecting the trains, I'd recommend the wooden train series. My twins love them!

Stephen is a Nicely Painted, Quality Wooden Train
Nicely painted, quality wooden trains, exceeded my expectations for FP brand products.Noticed a few tiny chipped spots on some of the edges of the trains after about two weeks of play. Overall, it seems like they are going to hold up to hours and hours of train track play. They are absolutely loved by kids who are huge fans of Thomas and Friends.Stephen is an attractive Engine that makes a great addition to a train play set, it is one of the kids favorites!Wish that they were a little more affordable but sometimes you have to pay for quality, these will be the type of toys that can be handed down for another child to enjoy and love all the same.If I notice any significant issues in the long run with quality, I will add to this post, but so far I feel like they are going to be solid.

Like all of the Thomas trains
My 23 month old absolutely loves his new train. We're slowly acquiring all of the Thomas trains and this one stands out with his unique design. He's really durable and is sure to withstand my toddler's rough play. Like all of the Thomas trains, the only con is the price. But my son plays with his train table and trains more than any other toy, so I feel the price is worth the enjoyment.

Nice quality and a lot of fun
This was purchased as a gift for my newphew who loves playing with trains. Stephen was one of the few trains that he didn't have, so he was very excited to play with it as soon as it was given to him.The piece is well made and has a lot of detail. It is a lot of fun to play with and works well with the wooden tracks. A great addition to any set!

Typical Thomas Train
If you're buying wooden Thomas trains I'm sure you know what you're getting into, haha. If not...these are wooden trains. They are remarkably durable but over time you can expect to see some dents in the wood as well as fading or chips in the paint. Just the way it is.Also, wooden trains and wooden train tracks are usually all compatible with one another, so you don't specifically need the wooden Thomas tracks for this toy.The only thing I didn't like about this is Stephen's signature smokestack is changed so the sizing is uniform for the tracks (going under bridges and whatnot). I get it, but I still don't like it.

STEPHEN'S A FAVORITE OF MINE, BUT...
Is it okay to harshly grade a Thomas toy?Problem #1 (and this is a big one) please note this engine is longer than most of the Thomas trains, due to having those larger front wheels. This makes the tight turns unmanageable without forcing or picking up the engine. That's a bummer! It will work just fine with the wider turns, however.Problem #2 is much more ticky-tack: in the show, Stephen has a tender with his coal. In this toy, it's just part of the main engine. This also makes the toy longer, as mentioned above. In addition to that, the piston looks awkward -- as though it's a free-floating mechanism attached to the boiler, rather than a piston for the wheel. Not sure they could've avoided this, but it just doesn't look right. All in all, be careful before you buy this particular engine. Unless you're a fan of Stephen in general, you might want to opt for a different one.

Quality and how durable they are made
How kids put their imagination to play and no matter how much abuse these toys goes through their still in one piece.

Top quality Thomas character
Got this after seeing the fantastic film Thomas & Friends: King of the Railway [DVD]The main character (apart from the usual Thomas & friends) is this engine, based on Stephenson's Rocket. My (nearly) 3 year old was very taken by Stephen, talking about him for days afterwards. Needless to say, he was delighted when I got him this! It's a good quality toy - nicely built, colourful, and good intricate detail, brass coloured funnel, with dome and whistle more brown coloured than the picture seems to show.As you'd expect, fits well with the usual wooden railway systems (we have a mixture of Brio and Bigjigs), and the other accessories. In summary, highly recommended.
