A solid product that's easy to program
It's a thermostat that you plug into the wall and then plug an electric space heater into. And it has a programmable schedule so you can heat to different temperatures based on weekday/weekend and morning/day/evening/night.On the surface that sounds pretty unexciting, but here's why you need this product:1) It's well-designed; it's produced by a name brand. The whole thing feels really solid and has been totally reliable through this winter's heating season in Chicago.2) When installed, you will have two thermostats: the one on your heater and the one on this device, most likely plugged into the wall. (To make use of this, you just turn the thermostat on your heater up all the way and rely on this thermostat to shut off the power to your heater at the right time.) Having the thermostat that is sensing your room's temperature be AWAY from your heater means that your room will be heated more accurately to the desired temperature.3) This thermostat has what is easily the easiest way to program desired temperatures that I've ever used. It's far nicer than the much more expensive "smart thermostat" that manages the rest of the house's HVAC.4) If your electric room heater doesn't have a digital thermostat, this effectively adds that feature without buying a whole new heater. Also, if your heater's thermostat stops functioning reliably, this solves that problem without requiring an entire new heater. There's one very minor negative this thermostat has: its LCD display isn't backlit. I always have to use a flashlight (usually my phone's flashlight function) to see it clearly. If I could deduct 1/4 point I would because if they fixed this, it would be a perfect product for my purposes. Alas, they have room to grow. I hope they do.But in balance if this product fails I fully intend to replace it with whatever similar thing I hope Lux is selling at that time.

Solid little device, works well.
Seems I have never written are review on these. They are very good little temp controllers and work fine for my needs so far. I am a homebrewer and have built my own fermentation chamber. I bought one of these on the off chance that it would work as a single unit instead of the Johnson controller or building from scratch with an SC1000.First, this works great running a small space heater in a small room. Kept my fermentation temps right on for that Belgian strong that needed >70F in our cold <65F winter house.Second, I have re-purposed two of these for my fermentation chamber. This probably (lol) violates warranty, but they can be opened up and the sensor wire extended. I have run that wire through to inside of chambers and used a microphone quick connect inside the chamber for the other half of the wire. After 3ft of extra wiring, the machine was easy to recalibrate following the instructions. Some items to keep in mind. 1) A two degree swing is the smallest you can set it for, these are not going to be super precise. 2) They will only chill down to 44F, but this is rarely needed unless I am cold crashing a beer. 3) The buttons to 'hold' a temp can be finicky to press, and it is easily forgotten when resetting a temp, so it loses that 'hold' and goes back to programmed. [But that is on me, not the device.]Great product for my needs, easily adaptable, and works great as designed if you are not a home brewer.

Does what it claims. Better that I expected but not perfect. Worth the price.
I was reluctant to buy this because it's big and a bit more expensive than I wanted it to be. But there is nothing else out there that does exactly what this thermostat does. So I bought it with a panel heater and I've been very happy with it. Easy to program. My only complaint is that it's impossible to see the LCD screen without unplugging it and holding it up to your face. That method works, but it would be nice for the display to be readable without doing that.My other gripe is that it is a fairly large device. However, it is a heavy duty thermostat that can handle significant power (by residential heat/AC standards), and is solidly built. I have had many other timers that seem like they'll ignite if you run a heater off of them -- no such concerns with this one.UPDATE: My WIN100 has been operating all winter keeping a bedroom warm at night with a panel heater. It works great. I keep the heater on low because it maintains the temperature steadily all night and there is no need for high. I bought a second one for my garage and ran into an issue that others have noted. It has a fairly narrow range of operation. A heater thermostat should be adjustable down to freezing -- this only goes down to 45. So if you're running a heater to keep an area above freezing, this is going to run your heater a lot more than necessary. Based on this shortcoming (which was plainly advertised in the product description and yet I still didn't notice it) and the two other minor issues, I am knocking this down to 4 stars. Note that the manual seems to suggest that this product is intended for use with a heater or air conditioner for keeping humans comfortable indoors, so my desire to use it to keep my garage at 33 degrees or warmer might not be an intended use. I don't care - a thermostat for a heater should go to 32 because that's what a lot of people want a heater for. LUX please improve this product -- it's so much better than the few other options but it needs a few tweaks. And send me a free one for providing this expert user feedback. One other comment: There are a bunch of negative reviews that say you can't override the temperature or you can't Hold, or you can't adjust the calibration or the swing, etc. Yes you can but there is not a Settings button to go into the calibration -- you have to read the manual to figure out which buttons to push to get into the programming. I haven't done it but the manual explains it pretty well.

Excellent product!
Product arrived quickly and works exactly as advertised. Extremely versatile and programmable in a multitude of ways, including a nifty "temp offset" feature which allows you to compensate for slight differences in temp readings between this thermostat and another in your home that you may want to match up to.We are using this product to control a 1-yr old Danby Premiere 13000 BTU portable air conditioner whose built-in thermostat stopped functioning.Amazing way to keep a $500, slightly broken, just out of warranty air conditioner working like new!One word of caution: this device cuts the power completely to the device that's plugged into it, once the set cut-off temperature is reached. Some AC units may NOT come back on once this thermostat restores power. If you have any doubts, set your AC (or whatever device you want to use this with) to on, then pull the power cord from the wall. Wait about 3 mins, then plug it back in. If it comes back on and retains whatever settings you had programmed in, then you're in the clear - this product will work for you.

A great little device with very accurate temperature readings
This little device works great. The external temperature sensor is pretty accurate and can sense the temperature of the room very well....give or take a degrees. It has cut down the cost of my heating bill a lot. It's easy to program if you follow the instructions, and once you set it, you can just forget it and just let it do its job. You can switch the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit easily. A great buy considering the fact that you will save a lot of money in the long run.

Decent product
Decent product, does what it's supposed to do, and seems to be decent quality. My only issues are:1) It doesn't do Celsius (I'm in Canada)2) The display is too small and too dim. Most receptacles are at shin height, and so I have to get down on my hands and knees to read it.3) The cover over the controls flips up, which again because it's so low makes it a bit awkward to raise and adjust. If it flipped down it would work better.4) It stinks. Since it came out of the box it smells like burnt circuitry which is pretty acrid. May be a one-off thing.
