Great Iron - Pretty too
I was a bit leary of buying this iron, as it is quite expensive, but I decided to go for it. My old iron was decent, but cheap. This is a HUGE upgrade. Loads of steam, it heats up quickly, and it is very pretty with the floral pattern on it. This is a very hefty iron - which is good - the weight means I don't have to bear down on it like with my old iron. There is a huge amount of steam coming out of this iron - even more if you switch it to turbo. I was able to iron 3 dress shirts in under 20 minutes, which is a huge improvement over my old iron. I was able to iron the sleeves from one side, without flipping and ironing the other side, and the crease in the sleeve is razor sharp. After ironing the three shirts I still have half a tank of water left. One thing I have noticed is that while this iron heats up much faster than my old iron, it takes WAY longer to cool down. This really is a good thing, it means that it retains its heat better, and is ready for another shot of steam very quickly. I do wish the cord was black, but that is a minor quibble that has no impact on the performance of the iron. The cord isn't super long, but I have one of those whip cord holder things from Polder that clamps onto the ironing board, and I had no issues with reach, even though that elevates the cord 2 feet above the ironing board. I do generally iron quite close to a socket though. Worst case scenario, you buy an extension cord (buy one that is rated to carry enough power for the iron - you don't want to burn your house down.

Rowenta - Good Iron
I use this iron mainly for quilting. It does a fine job on clothes too, though I can only speak for cotton. I haven't tried ironing with the lower temperatures. I like that the iron has a bit of weight to it as well as a nice balance in the hand. Great steaming. It is one of the best shot of steam irons I have owned. I tested the water spray as well. It works nicely. Iron heats up quickly. There's been no spitting or leaking. There was a bit of residue coming out of the iron when I first started using it; however, the user pamphlet explained it was normal and it stopped after my first few passes with it and a few steam shots. It did not damage my fabric. I've been using the iron almost every day for the past couple of weeks. This is my second Rowenta in 10 years. I gave my first one to someone who needed an iron. It was a great iron too. I would have bought the same one, but the model was no longer manufactured. Both were made in Germany, but I thought all of them were German products. Picked this one because my last Rowenta was a great iron and this one seemed to have the best reviews of the newer Rowenta models.

Love the iron, worth the money
I bought this iron to replace my 30 year old Rowenta and I really love all the upgrades. I bought this model despite the negative reviews as I loved the lovely appearance, I admit it, and I'm so glad that I did! I'm a quilter and I find that the steam works fabulously to quickly iron whatever piece I'm working on. Whoever wrote about a chintzy burst of steam button was using the wrong button, the burst button is solid and works great. I appreciate the cup that comes with the iron to refill it as it is designed well and holds exactly the amount you need to fill the chamber, which by the way is easy to see into. I like the weight even tho it is a tad heavy as it presses things in a jiffy. Very comfortable to my hand. When it auto turns off, the iron turns back on by placing horizontally and heats up within seconds so that is not an issue. I love the tapered nose and the coverage of all the steam holes. This is just a well designed and wonderful iron; Totally worth the money. Mine says Made in Germany.

This iron leaks like crazy
I am currently working on resolving the problem with Rowenta, so if I am able to get this iron repaired or replaced, I will change the review. I am giving it such a low star review for a few reasons. It was pricey for an iron, and I've owned a cheapo Black & Decker iron that worked fine for 10 years so I'm pretty disappointed just for that reason. I bought this iron specifically to use with steam, and it leaks like crazy if there is water in the machine. This iron initially seemed like a great iron, but it started leaking badly within a month of purchase. I would use the iron intermittently while sewing. I would come back to the iron and it would have dumped the entire reservoir onto my ironing board and the floor, or I would be ironing and it would randomly just start leaking everywhere, sometimes staining the fabric I was ironing on. When I got in touch with a service representative, they suggested that based on my area code, the water I was using on the steam setting was too hard for the iron, and they suggested using spring water instead of tap water. (BTW, tap water was the type of water that is recommended in the manual. I always thought that distilled water was best for irons, but I was just going by the instructions in the manual.) I followed the instructions for cleaning the iron before filling it with spring water, and I used it and cleaned it multiple times, but the leaking just got worse. At this point I am sending it out to be repaired by a Rowenta approved repair place, which is really not an ideal fix, as I really need an iron right now, and I may need to go out and purchase a new iron regardless if Rowenta fixes my iron. Outcome Nov '21 The customer service from Rowenta was good. I sent the machine (prepaid by Rowenta) to the certified repair place. About a month and a half later I received a new iron, so they must not have been ale to refurbish. I did have to purchase another iron in the meantime.

Excellent Rowenta DW6080 Green Iron!!
The Product Description Below...says it all(Rowenta is Brand Name I Trust, and I bought two of the DW6080): Product Description Rowenta, the leading manufacturer of high-performance steam irons and garment steamers, introduces North America's first energy saving iron, the Eco Intelligence iron. This new addition to Rowenta's premiere garment care line operates at 100% efficiency and provides users with 25% energy savings. The Eco Intelligence iron was created with technology and design in mind and is available in a sleek black color with green detailing, accentuating its modern shape. The iron's new and patented Microsteam400 3De soleplate is at the crux of the energy-efficient design - helping to concentrate steam on the fabric, reducing loss of steam and therefore saving on water usage. Additionally, the unique new Eco Steam system is designed to help ensure optimal steam output to save energy and still provide the performance Rowenta users demand of their products. In addition to the ergonomic rotary trigger for both left and right-handed users, the exclusive steam optimization system offers three different settings, including: Dry position for perfect finish; Eco position for delivering optimal steam output while saving energy; Boost position for additional variable steam for ultra thick fabrics and stubborn creases. The various design features of the new Eco Intelligence iron lead to optimum ironing results. 1700 watts of power ensure fast, powerful heat-up and superior bursts of steam for thick fabrics or vertical steaming. The round shape at the back of the product reduces the frequency of creases when ironing and in line with other Rowenta products, the Eco Intelligence iron features a high-precision tip for reaching narrow areas and a stainless steel soleplate for premium scratch resistance.

Exceeded Expectations
I have owned many irons that came from big box stores in the $20-$30 range. They always do a decent job for a while and then they break. When my old iron was on its last legs, I started looking for something that wasn't quite so disposable. I decided I wanted to go with Rowenta because of the company's reputation and especially because most of the irons are still made in Germany instead of China like everything else. When comparing Rowenta models, I'll be honest, the design of this iron won me over. It didn't look like any other iron and is actually kind of pretty. I mean, it is still an iron and I'm not going to put it on my mantle or anything, but it is a pretty iron! I am blown away by the performance of this iron. After years of using those crappy irons and struggling to get wrinkles out, it has been incredible to smooth fabric with one pass. This iron has LOTS of steam. The first big ironing project I had was a quilt I was making. Every step was a breeze, from ironing uncut fabric, to pressing seams, to smoothing multiple layers of fabric. I have since had similar results ironing clothes and even delicate curtains. It is just incredibly quick and easy. I have never used an iron that works so well and would recommend this model to anyone.

SOME of this review might be SUBJECTIVE I realize, BUT.....
In spite of the good reviews, my gut told me not to get this one. My gut was right. I really really liked the looks of the iron, and I think that played a larger role than I would like to think in purchasing it. I loved the Rowenta I had years ago, but have gone the cheap route since. I finally decided to bite the bullet and was excited to get a new one. When I first pulled it out of the box it seemed a little unwieldy, and the balance just didn't feel right to me, but, I thought maybe that's because it's a new feel, and I held out hope that i could get used to it. But I just didn't, and maybe this is a totally subjective thing. It just didn't iron 'WITH ME'. I think it weighs too much toward the front of the iron actually, and this was confirmed after exchanging it for the Rowenta DW 5080 Focus (MUCHO better, and is balanced appropriately!). I'm not an expert on irons here, and some people may prefer the balance thing. Anyway, another negative for me is that big cheap chrome plastic steam boost lever, which is, um, cheap. It bothered me because it feels like it could break at any point. The lever didn't get in my way other than visually, but it's just disconcerting (for whatever that's worth). Finally and I guess most important is that the ironing capability was totally underwhelming. My cheap iron was 'almost' better. I understand that the steam is designed to be more efficient on this model, but frankly it's just not that good at getting wrinkles out (especially compared to my new Rowenta Focus). Soooo, all that said, I exchanged it for the Rowenta DW 5080 Focus, which arrived today. After pulling it out of the box I could tell immediately that I hit the mark this time. All of the issues I experienced with the Eco were alleviated by the Focus, and I'm a little baffled by all of the good reviews for the DW6080. The Focus reminds me of my old Rowenta. It's solid, good ergonomics all around, balanced well, steams better and just plain works better! I actually enjoyed ironing tonight lol! I'm very relieved (fingers crossed)! I will review the Rowenta DW 5080 Focus after using it for a while (oh and the Focus costs less to boot!)..UPDATE - After several weeks of using the Focus, my only gripe is the massive amount of steam (using up water quickly) that you can't really adjust even though there is an adjuster lol. But I think I'm splitting hairs now, and jeesh that thing really gets the wrinkles out!

A MUST HAVE!!
Very good iron! Every iron I buy is always a “Rowenta” and as of now I can’t see myself changing to a different brand. These irons if taken care of correctly as it tells you to do in the instructions will last you a long time and will provide you with WELL ABOVE average results! This iron is very pleasing aesthetically and the results from the performance are really great! The “eco steam boost” is kinda weird as in I don’t see a difference when I push the lever all the way down to provide the most “boost?” It works just like ravers other Rowenta I have used which is beyond great! So I feel like you are paying for the looks rather than the performance. But, to me the looks are worth the extra $20 bucks or so. I highly guarantee this iron to anyone wanting a well above average ironing results and ironing experience!
