Review: shot through dozens if not hundreds of optics - many of which were illuminated - and this is one of the best illuminated optics - This scope was installed on a Spikes Tactical Dissipator upper with a 16" barrel and picatinny rail. For the price of just over $60, this optic is a steal for three reasons: 1. The glass that UTG uses, while not as clear as the glass that comes in much more expensive optics, is plenty crisp for the avid target shooter. While I wouldn't be inclined to take this big game hunting, this scope would definitely do the job for varmint hunting and holds point of aim very well when detached and stored (my scope came with the QD mounts). 2. The illuminated retical works! I've served four years in the Army, shot through dozens if not hundreds of optics - many of which were illuminated - and this is one of the best illuminated optics I have used. You get two choices, red and green, and can set the intensity from 0-100 in each color. Not only does the color not bleed into the scope (like CCO's are famous for doing), it shows up as very crisp lines allowing for no difference in point of aim from the non-illuminated setting. 3. The price point for this is exceptional. I have a Leupold scope on my 7 mag, an Aimpoint on my AR10, and a ACOG on my M4. While these expensive optics definitely have their advantages, for the price of just over $60, this scope simply cannot be beat. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a mid-range target/varmint scope for their AR or similar picatinny-style rifle, and would have no problem using this over much more expensive scopes as my go-to optic. Summary: this is an excellent mid-range scope that will look great as furniture on any AR-style rifle. The quick-detach mounts work as advertised, and hold zero perfectly. Out of a 16" chrome lined barrel with M855 ball I consistently get .8" groups with this optic, and have gotten as low as half an inch MOA with match grade ammunition (at 100 yds).
Review: Best bang for the buck! - This is an excellent little optic. The adjustable illumination is a really nice feature, and the Mil-Dots are also great. The scope came with a little card that explains how to measure your distance using the Mil-Dots, but good luck trying to read it. The print is ridiculously small. What I did was took a picture of the card with my phone, and I'm able to blow it up and read the numbers easily. UTG also offers this same card as a .PDF file on their website, which actually is a blessing. I was able to print the card off to a readable size onto card stock (5x7 is perfect, for what it's worth) and laminated it. The scope did not have the rings pre-mounted, which isn't a big deal. I used my pool table which I knew was 100% level and mounted the rings. The QD system on the mounts work as they should, but in my eyes didn't have quite the amount of tension that I was wanting, so once I got the scope locked down onto my AR, I gave the hex screws a little nudge with my allen wrench. Problem solved. The rifle I mounted this to is a DPMS Oracle, and I set it up on my shooting rest. I zoomed the scope in to about 6x and without any type of adjustment on the turret, I fired a shot at a 9 inch paper plate at exactly 75 yards. I was truly impressed to see that I was only about an inch low, and maybe a half inch to the left on the very first shot. After about six shots and a few turret adjustments, I was stacking holes. Now, time to see if it holds zero after serious abuse. I zoomed in all the way to 9x, and lined up on a clean plate. I proceeded to do three 30-round mag dumps. I wasn't necessarily aiming dead center on the paper plate, I just wanted to keep in the general vicinity. After having a soda and letting the barrel cool, I lined up on another 9 inch paper plate still zoomed in at 9x, I took my time on the rest and proceeded to stack holes at 75 yards. I was able to achieve less than a 30 round group in less than 2 inches. The only real setback to this scope that I have found is the eye relief to be considerably short. It took me a while to get the optic set just right on the rail, but once I found that "sweet spot", it was good to go. I just felt a little awkward being up so close to it. I got used to it after a few shots. All in all, this is an excellent scope in the sub-$100 market. I like it so much, I just ordered a second for my Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22. Highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: There have been complaints of a misaligned reticle, has anyone experienced or heard of this?**
A: I read about this complaint in posts prior to me buying this scope. I did not experience this problem. Mine is mounted on a 1" riser to get above the battle sights. I had it bore sighted at my local gun shop and he thought the scope was fine. I zeroed it at 100yds on my AR15. It was shooting 1.5" groups. As Paul replied it will not compare with the more expensive models but it does a decent job for the price. I do have to get out and shoot again as the last time I went it was shooting almost 3 MOA high. There was a 30mph wind blowing so the next time out I will see if it was the wind or the scope not holding zero.

**Q: Do I need a risor mount for this scope on my AR- 15 M&P model ?**
A: I put a 1" Monstrum riser rail on my S&W M&P 15 Sport 2. The biggest problem was to get the proper eye relief for the scope, I had to mount the scope all the way to the rear of the top rail. That works but it makes pulling the charge handle a pretty tight maneuver.

**Q: What is the effective range of this scope? For .223/5.56**
A: Im really picky, and while this scope offered EVERYTHING I needed, they dont go into detail of exact reticle sizes... the reticle to me is WAY too large. At 50 yards the 'cross' area is like .5" wide at 9x. AT 50! so at 600 thats half the width of a face. TiborasaurusRex (youtube) goes over the effective range of the .223"/5.56mm regardless of scope.

**Q: what is the overall length of this scope can some answer for me please.**
A: With the sun shade, it's 10.25" long.. I always use the sun shade, due to lighting conditions where I shoot..

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ pretty much anything
*by J***R on January 5, 2017*

OK, so I am the original skeptic when it comes to glowing reviews of, well, pretty much anything! I bought the UTG BugBuster scope for a cheap .22 build and really didn't expect much, I mean really, how good can a $70 rifle scope be? First, The Good: Right out of the box the scope felt solid, the included rings and sun shade fit perfectly, the flip-up lens covers worked well (though you have to do without the front flip-up if you run the sun shade), the fit & finish was very good, and the QD rings do a great job of returning to center when you remove and re-install them (I've used them on other builds). There were two batteries included for the lit reticle (one spare) and the red and green lights worked very well ramping up and down as designed. I started off by centering the scope using a mirror and a strong light (if you don't know how watch the YouTube video by Leapers UTG) which took a couple of minutes then mounted and leveled the scope on my rifle. I took the rifle to my range expecting to need an extended sighting in period, fired 3 rounds offhand at 10 meters then an additional 7 rounds from a rest at 25 meters, all were in the black with the 7 from the bench rest making one hole ... all with no adjustment to the scope (see the attached photo). So how good can a $70 scope be? Pretty darn good! Now for The Bad: No, I can't say this scope will compete with my Nikons and Leupolds but then it was less than 1/4 their cost. First off, when I centered the scope I noticed the crosshairs were slightly rotated (about 1 degree). By running the cross hairs up & down and left & right while watching in the mirror, I determined that while they were rotated slightly they tracked true with the adjustment knobs. When I mounted the scope, I leveled the cross hairs not the adjustment knobs which resulted in a slight cant to the scope. While sighting the rifle in I found that the Adjustable Objective scale was off slightly but then I normally make that adjustment while looking through the scope so it didn't bother me. The peripheral aberration (that blurring around the edges) is fairly pronounced at close ranges but for what this scope is intended for it is acceptable. While the adjustment knobs are tight with the "lock rings" turned in, they are a bit sloppy when in "adustment" mode but again, not a deal breaker. Overall Impression: For the money, this is an excellent scope. I would recommend it for a casual plinker or close in (less than 75 yards) small game rimfire rifle but I'm not sure how it would handle the recoil of a centerfire. Buy one, set it up properly, get some ammunition, and get out on the range!
