I was born in the late 70's and by the time I started embracing music outside of sing-song tunes meant for small children, the 80's were halfway over and so was the love of listening to records. I admit it. I was from the cassette generation. And what did that do for us? First, it made music more portable. Remember walkmans? And it gave us options in the car when we didn't want to listen to the radio. But just like records, cassettes were delicate and easily damaged. But with cassettes we also slowly began to sacrifice the quality of sound itself. We made music convenient, but we didn't make it better, and that holds true with CD's and MP3's. Don't believe me? Then buy this record player! I didn't even know you could still buy "new" vinyl until I was shopping for a new CD the other day on Amazon and noticed a vinyl option. This got me to thinking about all those records I'd seen in antique and consignment stores over the years and passed right by. So, I typed in "record player" in Amazon and this one came up as the number one bestseller. I liked the price so I bought it! And on the day it arrived, I immediately hit up a few of those shops I mentioned and came home with a load of records that were super cheap. I won't repeat all the bells and whistles that everyone else has mentioned here and that you can read for yourself in the description. I will say that there's no assembly required. I had it out of the box and plugged in ready to play in under a minute. I do wish the needle moved back automatically after the record was done playing. The record does not spin until you move the needle over to it which is nice though. The volume is easy to adjust, and speaking of, the sound quality is amazing! I forgot just how now nice and better-sounding records were. You'll hear the difference too. And that's what makes this a nice purchase that I don't regret. Yeah, it's nostalgic. I laughed at the thought of getting some milk crates for my "new" record collection. Might as well get some paper lanterns and a papasan chair too, huh? But the older I get, the more I like to reminisce about the good old days and let's face it, we all have a soundtrack to our lives and chances are your glory days were set to records. So do yourself a favor and drag your old record collection out of the attic if you haven't sold it on Craigs List already. And buy this record player. You won't regret it!

The Jensen JTA-230 turntable is more than what I had expected and we couldn't be happier. It arrived in time, perfectly wrapped with one other small item this morning. Its much smaller than I had expected (as some other reviewers commented as well); compact, pretty nice fit & finish, and the controls are pretty intelligently organized. I love the fact that the volume knob is larger than the tone. The switches don't feel too premium; however, they don't appear to be made of cheap plastic either. Again, as others have pointed out, the LP records stick out of the rectangular space of the turntable and the translucent lid partially covers the record while its playing. The player has several options for connectivity including line-out, aux in, headphone connection, and most importantly, USB port to convert the songs into electronic files. The USB cable, CD (Audacity), and the manual came in the box, although I haven't had the chance to experiment with it yet. Honestly, it is not in my plan as I purchased the turntable to use it as a turntable after several decades... I might however experiment with an external amplifier (e.g., the sound bar we have with our TV) for louder and richer sound. The sound is good enough for us. We often tend to forget about the contents and effect of a song or, music on our mind and soul while getting too bogged down with the quality, cost, and specifications of the music players. If you are not short of hearing, sitting relatively close to the turntable, and no other audio source is blasting soundwaves, you will hear it just fine. We have been playing it non-stop since it arrived this morning and will continue to do that until we call it a day... I am happy about my choice of the unit - thanks to Amazon's review/rating system once again. If you are thinking about a turntable to crawl back in your memory lanes through playing the vinyl records, go ahead and do it. And, purchase the Jensen 230 as you will most likely like it.

I purchased this turntable because it seemed to have pretty favorable reviews&since im on a pretty tight budget&wanted to "upgrade"a bit from my Ion duodeck I had been using for years as my vinyl collection rapidly continued to grow&I began to truly enjoy the"vinyl experience",ive been embracing since a child,yet didnt have nearly the budget some of these "holier than thou""audiophiles"that review on forums&sites like this seem to have... I received the turntable quickly but the 1st one I received gave off a strong electronic humming sound as soon as the motor started.Thanks to Amazons great return policy, I returned it and was PROMPTLY sent a replacement. The new one still had a slight hum through the speakers when set at a high volume once the motor started, but it seemed tolerable for the price. the sound is much better than my old ion duodeck that i loved for quite a bit so I was happy with that. It has very loud clean open sounds,BUT it does lack a bit of bass response,luckily I have powered speakers though with a bass enhancer which made it a little better. And also the tone adjustment knob tends to help with that aswell. One thing I did notice though was it seems the needle/stylus wore out quite quickly,maybe from improper handling or the quality of it. I looked into replacements and most I found werent specifically for this turntable(buyer beware)so i was reluctant to purchase one from those buyers on ebay,etc but remembered another reviewer on here mentioned that Spectra(the actual manufacturer of this turntable)offers replacement needles for only 5 dollars! So I went ahead, called their customer service&ordered two and was quite delighted by the quick shipment of them. I replaced the needle(which can tend to be a bit difficult but just be patient&careful)and was surprised at the improvement of sound once I played a record again! It was now more crisp,open and clear, and Kate Bushs high pitched vocals sounded much more delightful and clear. So i would suggest saving money&time by ordering needle/stylus replacements directly from the manufacturer by calling the customer service# within the turntables manual for even more enjoyment. Also the tonearm did tend to skip a bit on some records but MOSTLY on very BASS driven(electronic/hiphop) albums which at times causes the needle to vibrate even more&due to this turntables inexpensive mostly plastic construction thats somewhat expectant. I simply taped a nickel to the far back top end of the cartridge&it played splendidly. In closing I must say I did enjoy this turntable during the short time(nearly 2 months)I've owned it YET i MUST say.....only purchase this turntable if 1.you cant afford a better one but love listening to records(like me). 2.are just starting with vinyl&need something to test the waters before growing a pricey collection. 3.just like listening to a few records you own casually. Its a GREAT turntable for all those 3 reasons!!! BUT if you CAN afford a better turntable I would HIGHLY suggest spending 50bucks more and purchasing a audio technica turntable! Or perhaps you'll be fortunate,like I recently was,and WIN a audio technica one at auction for under 50 bucks that actually works! Yes I acquired a (gently)used audio technica turntable and compared to this jensen(which will now become my backup turntable)...the sound and handling IS quite incredible. I was splendidly pleased. But if you arent quite as lucky to find one that works at a price you can afford i would go with this turntable until you can!! and DONT be deterred by those "audiophiles"out there who are able to spend upward to thousands of dollars on turntables&somehow expects everyone else to be able to aswell. Music is to be enjoyed&loved so enjoy it however you can on whatever budget you can ie:this turntable :) so in summary... PROS: PRICE, decent sound quality,size,flexibility, Spectra/Jensen customer service needle replacement &its great for a starter or casual listening turntable until you can upgrade to better! CONS: noisy little motor,motor humming sound through speakers, low bass response Happy vinyl listening people! :)

Great little record player,I bought this after a HORRID experience with a Crosley (live and learn let me tell ya) but this guy is a cut above the rest. I'll break this review down a bit for peeps planning to buy this: Size: Its adorably small. Both aesthetically and functionally it can sit on an end table or in a corner and not be an obstruction so that's a plus. The record DOES extend out of the front, left side, and back of the player but just ensure that there is nothing that might hit your record and you'll be okay, no fuss. Interface: Power switch, check. Volume wheel, check. Tone and Pitch switches, check. Functioning arm and needle, check.Headphone Jack, check. Anything else and I'd assume you're traversing into the $60-70 range and we don't want that lol. Speakers: Okay lets be real, if you're looking for some pure orgasmic vibes coming from this record player then you are in the wrong place. Now don't get me wrong, the speakers do their job and give you the volume most people are looking for, however if you're expecting some like Music/Dance Hall levels of volume then you need to move along. Works for a small/medium sized living room (mine is a 20'x20' living room) and you can hear it from basically anywhere. It works for me and I'm just an Average Joe. Don't listen to the audiophiles, one person's LOUD is another person's soft. Initial playing: It DID scare me for a sec because my records sounded highly distorted (Contra Album by Vampire Weekend). But once I adjusted the tone and pitch it was golden, so DON'T stress out if the thing isn't sounding right right off the bat, adjust it to what you deem sounds correct and you'll be okay. Final Thoughts: BUY THIS! If you're getting into records and you wanna try them out, BUY THIS! If you're a parent trying to expose your kids to your old record collection, BUY THIS! If you just like records and you want a player that is hella cheap, BUY THIS! Just whatever you do, DON'T BUY A CROSLEY!

Got this at the beginning of this year as I was looking to get into collecting and listening to vinyl. Was impressed with the price and didn't really have a lot of knowledge on turntables or their technology. Worked well enough initially, though I immediately noticed that the sound was tinny and lacking bass even on my Klipsch Pro Medias. Sort of got used to the sound lacking bass and didn't think anything of it. Skip forward to about a month and a half ago and I began having issues with the pitch of my LP's. After a while of listening, the pitch would drop and I would have to raise it for the music to sound normal again. Rinse and repeat until the pitch was nearly maxed out. I've since found out that the issue is related to the belt. Anyways, since it was cheap and not really worth repairing, I decided to look into replacing it and decided to go with something a little more serious - the Audio Technica LP-120-USB. After using the LP-120, I now realize what vinyl is actually meant to sound like. In summary, this turntable is great for people who aren't too serious about sound quality and are possibly just getting into the vinyl game for the first time. I'd probably still be using it if the belt didn't start to fail. That said, I'm pretty glad it failed because the LP-120 is pretty phenomenal. If you're looking to get into vinyl, do yourself a favour and start off with a great turntable like the LP-120 or get a used Technics 1200.

Let's be up front here, okay? This is a $50 starter turntable. No one is going to mistake it for a state-of-the-art audiophile sound system. Nor should you expect it to perform like one. You are getting what you pay for: *A belt-driven 3-speed turntable *Two built-in side speakers; not sure of size but adequate for a medium-sized room. *Separate controls for volume, tone and pitch. The change in tone between the two extremes is modest, and the pitch control to adjust playing speed is simply based on your making adjustments until you think it "sounds" right. *There are line-out jacks in the back and headphone jacks in the front. In addition, there is an auto stop switch. This allows two options: 1) let the turntable keep running after the needle reaches the run-out groove, or 2) have the turntable shut off when the needle reaches the run-out groove. [Not sure why you would want the turntable to keep running!] There is no option for the tone arm to return to the "rest" position and shut off. Also worth mentioning is the dust cover. It has cutouts in the front, back and on the left. So, yes, you can close the lid while playing an LP, but the edges stick out past the lid. Now the sound on this system is not amazing. It's not even great. At best, it's good. For comparison purposes, I plugged some Cyber Acoustic speakers into the headphone jack (which shuts off the built-in speakers) and it did sound pretty amazing. Of course, I spent $75 on those speakers and now I have more than doubled the cost of this turntable. Here's the bottom line. My twenty-something daughter periodically raids my vinyl collection (about 3,000 LPs) and will buy used albums from record shops. However, she doesn't have a turntable and she's not getting my old direct-drive Pioneer PL-200. So for her birthday this month, I got her this turntable. For her current needs, this Jensen unit has the basics and that's all she needs. If you don't want to spend more than $50, let's face it, you're not going to get anything better. RECOMMENDED

I purchased this record player July of last year. This is a three speed stereo turntable with built in speakers. It’s main job is to play records and it does just that. The record player also has pitch and tone control which came in handy. The main reason I bought this specific record player was because I wanted a small, inexpensive, and easy to use record player. It’s great for someone like me who had never used a record player before. Its size is perfect and it has a nice simple black look to it. The built in speakers get loud enough to hear from other rooms in the house but won’t get extremely loud. It also has a headphone jack that works great. The biggest benefit is its size, I was worried I would have a difficult time finding an appropriate spot for it but because of its medium size and its light weight it wasn't hard to find it a spot. Another benefit is how easy it was to set up, it comes completely put together and all you need to do is plug it into an outlet, adjust the pitch and enjoy. Buying this record player on amazon was always my first choice and I’m glad I did. The final price I had to pay was $56 for my record player. I didn't purchase the guarantee but if you decide you want include a two year protection, amazon offers it for $3.71. The wait for it to be delivered wasn't extremely long and I got it delivered within a reasonable time. This product is a best seller on amazon and I think it is worth buying, its inexpensive and it works great. I would definitely recommend this product.

Save yourself time and money and do not buy this piece of trash! I bought this for my first record player and at first I thought it was okay for the price because I didn't know any better. I thought to myself "for $50 how could this POSSIBLY NOT be worth it?" I read all these 4 and 5-star reviews saying it's good for the price so I foolishly thought it must be worth it despite all these 1-star reviews. So I bought it and tried it out, and it started skipping a lot and didn't sound as great as I hoped it would. Depending on the record it would at best barely play the record, or a few whole songs on a record, but 50-75% of the time it would skip all over and was not enjoyable, whatsoever, by any standards. And it got worse and worse over time just like all the reviews say. But like I said this was my first record player so I was thinking maybe this is normal, maybe vinyl records just skip a lot and don't sound as good as I thought they might, and maybe some don't play very well. Well turns out I was WRONG. My friend who's been listening to vinyl for years and is a music major came over and listened to it. At first he was a little impressed that a cheap record player had all the different pitch and tone controls (which are useless by the way if you ever actually use them, when you move them even slightly off center it makes it sound horrible!), but after listening for 5 seconds he knew it was trash, or thought maybe something was wrong with it. We took the records that were playing the worst over to his house to play on his Sony PSLX300USB USB Stereo Turntable, and they played perfectly!! So he tried to help me fix/improve my junky Jensen record player in every way he could think of, cleaning/replacing the needle, checking the arm weight, and adjusting the settings and cleaning the records of every speck of dust, but nothing improved the quality of the sound even a little. After dealing with this for a few months, and after a particularly terrible play-thru of a new record I bought, I decided to cut my losses and pawn that piece of junk and pick a new one. I tried to decide between my friend's Sony PSLX300USB USB Stereo Turntable (priced at $128 at the time of this review), the Audio Technica AT-LP60USB Fully Automatic Belt Driven Turntable with USB Port ($120), and the Audio Technica AT-LP60 Fully Automatic Stereo Turntable System, Silver ($99), and I went with the Audio Tenchnica one without the USB since I don't think I will really ever use the USB function and most new vinyl records come with digital copies included anyways. I just tested it out and I LOVE it, its sexy and sounds amazing. I was a little nervous since I went with the cheapest of the 3 options, but I'm pleased to say that I haven't had any of these issues or any other issues for that matter. I won't go too much into it since I'm not reviewing that record player right now, but "for the record" (I had to) it plays just as well as my friend's Sony PSLX300USB and was $28 cheaper and I would highly recommend it. If you're trying to transfer your vinyls to your computer then I would recommend you get the Sony PSLX300USB or the Audio Technica AT-LP60USB.

Great basic little turntable. Sound is clearer than expected, bought this for my daughter and she's been using it daily since Christmas without issue. The internal speakers are every bit as cheap as they should be, good enough sound if you want some noise in the room but don't expect any real bass response. Attached to external speakers it sounds great.

El tocadiscos es muy bueno para principiantes. Tiene un buen sonido y lo considero fuerte, ya que llega la música hasta el segundo piso de mi casa. Los vinilos que tengo se escuchan claramente tanto sin audifonos como sin ellos. He probado las 3 velocidades y todas ellas funcionan correctamente. Tampoco me ha rayado ninguno de mis discos. Aprecio que viene con una cubierta para que no le caiga polvo y también el hecho de que viene con un protector para la aguja. Excelente.

Great Value for money! [When I bought it in Aug 2015 it was around Rs.7000/- ] Plays well. Sound quality : Don't expect top line performance. But still very good. Tried connecting the RCA out to an external JBL speaker; Works best with the built in speakers. The Impedance mismatch hampers playback quality with external receivers/amplifiers. .. 220V to 110V converter not included - you need to get one. Overall build quality of the Tone Arm is a little flimsy... but ok. Sound quality is like a 2 In 1 Cassette Player of yester years. Not bad. Bluedart Courier who delivered however are a tricky lot. One fine morning I saw the online status of the order saying "delivered yesterday" - while I had not seen the delivery 24 hours later. Then after a few calls to Bluedart and iBhejo (the importer) - the Bluedart online status miraculously changed to "Visited but Consignee not available" - A total lie !! Called Bluedart - they said package has been delivered to the guard at the gate. Checked with guard - no package was delivered. Again another few calls later the NEXT day Bluedart status said "out for delivery".... then again "Visited but Consignee not available" - another lie. This time Bluedart said - the courier had actually arrived - there was no electricity - lifts were not available! I was home all day! Finally 3rd day - they promised delivery by 1pm. Pack arrived on 4th day!! Ruined the whole experience!!

Work as advertised. Fast delivery. Plugged in an amplifier and got good results. Does what I want. If you want high volume with fantastic fidelity for next to nothing, dream on. It plays my old records and that is all I want.

La relación costo-beneficio es muy satisfactoria. Se escucha muy bien a través de sus pequeños altavoces, no es un sonido muy potente pero es el ideal para espacios pequeños como habitaciones, estudios u oficinas. Si alguien quiere más potencia, se puede conectar a otro sistema de audio a través del RCA. Los materiales son bastante decentes. No es un equipo profesional, así que si se quiere algo Pro se deberá desembolsar lo equivalente.
