AWESOME and SHOCKINGLY loud
The best thing about this is that if you hide the alarm, it guarantees you will have to remain awake long enough that you are unable to go back to sleep even if you tried, because at highest setting it is so loud it is impossible to pinpoint the location. It seems like it comes from every direction at once, and moving around trying to sense how the loudness increases or decreases is nearly impossible in close-quarters environment. Probably easy enough to track outdoors on a football field, but inside. . . .no it gets me up, believe me. just don't set it on a lower setting than maximum, because at low or medium 70 or 90, instead of max 120, I get no difference from other alarms. highly recommended. worth the money. I hate this blasted thing but it does get the job done. I'm wondering what would happen if i put it beneath my pillow. I think i'll try that tonight. so, yeah, it's definitely loud enough to trigger the fight or flight reflex of the sympathetic nervous system, and that's gotta be why other people's descriptions so vividly describe heart-pounding, anxiety, movement and hyper-alertness. ADDENDUM [LATE ENTRY 06/18/14] Just wanted to add that turning it off is not nearly so difficult as it seems. Now that I've had it a while, it seems absurd that I ever thought of it that way. All you do is press one button in the lower left on the front panel, and simultaneously depress both keys on the side with your right thumb. If you have a thumb and at least one finger on each hand, you can do it. NOW it seems TOO EASY to turn off. Also, I would like to say that this is no longer a miracle alarm. If you, for example, take a powerful mood stabilizer such as seroquel (quetiapine), or a CNS (central nervous system) depressant such as xanax or sleeping med like ambien or lunesta, this will not KEEP you awake once you have turned it off. If you are groggy or sleep deprived enough, it will wake you up unless you are literally comatose. It will aways be the user's responsibility to stay awake once up, and resist the urge to go back to sleep. Even if it jacks your heart rate up, the pulse will return to normal, the body relax, and if groggy enough you can go back to sleep within a few minutes. It does not change a night owl into a morning person.

Ear-shattering, not as tough as advertised
TL;DR: Outstanding customer service, definitely as loud as advertised, not as tough as advertised, terrible ease of use and accuracy, but I'm still buying my third one today. Five stars only on the basis that the alarm actually wakes me up. I'm also a cheapskate who's used a fully-functioning, but busted, alarm for almost 5 years. Customer Service: I bought my first Screaming Meanie in 2014, which was replaced by the company for apparently some defect that mine didn't even have that I knew of. First time I've ever gotten a warranty replacement on a product that hadn't broken yet, so I give customer service absolute top notch. A few months later, and sure enough, my original quit working, and I moved to the replacement. Loudness: I'm a ridiculously heavy sleeper most of the time. My baby cries and I'm up instantly, but I swear a car could crash through my bedroom wall and I wouldn't notice. This thing (most of the time) wakes me up. I've slept through it going off, which it does for a whole hour, a few times. This results in a headache that won't go away for hours, and a ringing in your ears that's really, really terrible. So, the product does absolutely perform the task that I bought it for, and does so quite well. Toughness: Unfortunately, the "built to withstand a 30 foot drop" claim is pretty overstated. I knocked mine off my desk onto a wood laminate floor and quite a bit of the plastic around the battery compartment shattered. Because the alarm worked so well, I've used it with the battery flopping out of it for nearly 5 years now. It took about 4 years for the wires to finally start breaking on the 9V battery plug, and I've slowly chewed away at the wire over the past year, pinching it to the battery to keep the alarm working. The alarm finally officially died last night. The board with the buttons for activating the alarm finally broke loose from the face of the clock, and sunk into the inside of the device. I'm considering rehousing it into a custom-made container and continuing to use it... I really like that this thing wakes me up, and it's the only alarm that I've ever found that does so as well as it does. Ease of Use/Functionality/Accuracy: All complete crap. Easily the worst functionality, accuracy, and ease of use in any device I've ever used. The clock slowly loses time and is never accurate. The alarm never goes off when you've set it, but goes off some arbitrary number of minutes prior to when it should - some time within 15 minutes before the time you set. The two-button combo required to activate the alarm only works if the switch is also set to "Alarm" instead of "Clock" and sometimes activates "Beacon" mode instead of activating the alarm, which just instantly sets off the alarm, which wakes the entire house if you go to bed later than your kids and stuff. The three-button combo required to turn the alarm off is equally unreliable, and often has to be pressed multiple times to get the alarm shut off, while your entire family yells at you to turn it off. The alarm time has to be reset from the current time every time you want to use it, it doesn't save the last time you had the alarm set for.

Awesome for heavy sleepers and people with irregular schedules
I actually had the 110 for years, and wanted to get a second one to be a backup alarm. I found the 120 and chose it for the intermediate alarm volume. I am glad I upgraded. I have to confess, I am using this as a countdown alarm almost exclusively. I'd rather do the math when I am awake and setting the alarm instead of when it goes off and I wake up. The operation doesn't seem intuitive at first, but you learn very quickly how to use it and which buttons to push. The fact that you need to think about it just a little and make sure that you are pressing the proper combination helps you wake up a little when you are turning off the alarm or, as I do all the time, resetting it for an extra five minutes while only half awake. A regular alarm feature is available if you have a regular schedule and get up at the same time every day. I don't so the countdown timer makes more sense for me. Unlike the 110, this model has the intermediate alarm volume which you will hear and which probably won't upset your neighbors. This has always been a concern for me with the louder setting on the 110. I think the 120 feels more solid and the action on the buttons feels more polished. The size is a little larger than the 110, but it isn't very noticeable. This uses a 9-volt battery, and the battery life is good. Having the built-in tester/light button is great though. I love this thing and would buy another in a heartbeat. The one flaw I've found is that the battery test indicator is just below the screen and is bright. The little LCD screen will illuminate like an Indiglo watch dial when you press the top button, but the battery test light is so bright I can't ever make out the information on the screen. If I could deduct just half a star for this I would, but I can't, and I feel the quality and performance are so good that deducting one full star would be misleading. If you want a countdown alarm, get this. If you are trying to decide between this one and the 110, get this one ... definitely worth the extra 5-10 dollars.

Ok here is the scoop
I really like this thing because it never shuts off on its own, its 3 loudness settings are just right for having enough options. But I also dislike some things that I list below. Ultimately this alarm is in a league of its own in terms of loudness, portability for how loud it is, and the fact that it does not autoshut off. Seriously every other travel alarm clock I looked at auto shut off in a minute or two seems nuts to me. 1) Like another reviewer stated the red battery check light blares right in you face at night when checking the time. I can still read it but I think the red battery check light should be paired with the (key) button because you have to press the key button to set the alarm or timer and it would also show you if the battery is good while you set the alarm. Or move the battery check button to the (lighthouse) button. 2) The light bulb, arrow, and lighthouse buttons are all printed on and I think over time they will rub off, I think they should be stamped into the plastic 3) The sound of the alarm I would prefer to sound like the old-school classic alarm clocks of the 80s . If you want to know what I mean go to youtube and put this code into the search bar = A2nirOjpz70 4) You have to set the alarm time every day, it has no memory. In total I will use this alarm and it is good but those lack of features considering the price drop the rating.

Bought another after 3+ years of great service
Mine finally broke after 3 years of daily use and dropping it a couple dozen times. Not its fault. I will say this is the only alarm I trust. On high it'll wake the dead. Battery life is pretty impressive. Id say 3-4 months. It just works. Great alarm. Now that mine broke, I immediately purchased another one.

Loudest alarm clock ever - - extremely effective
Wow, this thing is louder than my home's burglar alarm!! But, it has 3 volume settings; I'm using the middle. The alarm goes off EXACTLY 7 minutes early each time, but fine with me since consistent. I use this as my fourth, definitive, no-more-excuses alarm, which I keep outside of my bedroom so i have to walk far. I declare I am the heaviest, longest sleeping, hypersomniac in the world, and i guarantee you can't sleep through this unless deaf. I like how the instructions are printed right on back of device, so no looking for manuals when I forget (although manual is included). I only dislike that it doesn't save the prior day's alarm set time, so i have to re-set each night, but i can deal. I have not determined how long alarm will keep going before auto shuts off, but that's only because it is SO loud and annoying that I can't ignore it. Also, it requires 2 hands and a bit of coordination to turn off, as 3 simultaneous buttons require pushing. Thus one couldn't just punch it while half asleep, like i do with my bedside gentle alarm clock radio (alarm 1 of 4).

The difference between the 120 ( 110 dB model) and the 220 (120 dB) screaming mini love it but alarm reset every night
If anything changes will update the review with the new update thank you, we recommend the 220 it has an alarm a countdown timer and the clock the extra features with the timer is nice if you want to sleep for four (x) hours six or eight you can set it accordingly. And the countdown timer is a nice feature. And only the 220 has 120 dB alarms. We found There is no memory- ( it doesn't store the timer or alarm it is not capable I guess I'm doing that currently ) - recall for the timer or alarm that's why it doesn't keep the timer or alarm time, it has to be reset every day . Newest update we bought another unit the 220 screaming mini to see if the problem still existed yes that's just the way that this unit works so the three stars remain everything we sent below is true and you just have to reset your alarm every morning and when the alarm goes off in the morning it randomly chooses a different time as well as if you go to the timer and adjust the timer the alarm time changes no big issue, you just have to reset the alarm every morning or whatever time you want the alarm to go off. Hope to see some updates on this unit. So for now when you set the alarm and it goes off you just have to reset the time again and the time may be a different time than you originally set it to, so you just have to reset it back to that time. If anybody has anything else please leave comments below thank you, we will be keeping these units and using them as they definitely will wake you up the loudest setting is truly loud loudest we've ever had ****the other two settings are average just like any other Clock you can find 2nd Update, even though we have some problems below, overall this is the best alarm clock 120 dB we've ever come across as well as in the loudest definitely will wake you up hundred percent recommend it for anyone that cannot get up you could put it several feet from you which would cause you to get up. Some may say it's too loud and has three settings of loudness and the bottom one is very tolerable and won't wake us up if you think it's too loud it has three different levels but it's definitely the loudest alarm ever 100% that we could fine for convenience wearing on your belt we give it a solid 4 stars yes 4 stars, way three on the review stars because we would really like to see some additional features but overall it is really a nice piece of equipment. Hundred percent we recommend this to others just read the review try it make a decision for yourself but these are some of the issues and things we found when reviewing this product Update problem we love this thing the alarm time setting keeps changing automatically set for the morning time when we shut the alarm off automatically changes the time to the current time for the alarm and then we went go back to check the alarm again the alarm Then the alarm was the new time of 8 o'clock now nobody is setting anything up just randomly choosing to pick different times. Will not keep the alarm time, every time the alarm goes off we have to change the alarm time back to the time you wanted to go off because it randomly picks I knew along time other than the one you set Small issue , We are not sure but someone else is saying that you have to reset the alarm every time you use it not the timer so once the alarm is set and it goes off it loses the time in randomly chooses a new time and you have to reset it I don't know if this is right and we asked the question in the community hopefully someone will answer it ? We found answer on youtube and we're being told that you have to reset the alarm every time is a bit of a bummer but we cannot find any other alarms currently as loud as this one so we're going to be stuck using it and resetting the alarm every time. If the alarm did not need to be reset every time this would be five stars oh help us.. why can't something so simple work so easy always has to be some issue, wish they would update and fix this. Also we're being told that only the 220 has the alarm feature the unit 120 doesn't function with an alarm just a timer. We were wondering the difference between the 120 in the 220 so we are listing this to hopefully it helps others Features of the Screaming Meanie TZ-120: Extremely Loud Alarm (110dB) Panic Button Beacon Assorted Colors Uses One 9-Volt Battery (Not Included) Dimensions (LxWxH): 6"H X. 2.38"W X .75"D Features of the Screaming Meanie TZ-220: Extremely Loud Alarm Multi- Purpose Alarm Clock and Countdown Timer (120dB) Emergency Alert and Glows in the Dark 3 Loudness Levels Panic Button Beacon Assorted Colors Uses One 9-Volt Battery (Not Included) Dimensions (LxWxH): 6"H X. 2.38"W X .75"D We will be recommending this to others and we will be keeping it for we cannot find anything else on the market as loud as this a few features would be nice if they updated it mading a few changes for alarm setting or adding a second alarm but currently we have no other options and cannot find anything currently better than this thank you Shutting off the alarm you have to hold the key button and simultaneously push the hour and minute buttons, remember the alarm will go off 10 minutes than five minutes prior to the alarm hour, pre-alarm cannot be shut off but when it sounds you just press the key button once sleep feature and in five minutes press the key button again and then to shut the final alarm off again hold the key button + the hr and min buttons on side. Many review say set the alarm 10 minutes ahead of the true time you want to set it for example if you want to get up at seven set it for 710

Hell of a alarm
I bought this product like everyone else I needed to get up! And nothing else would, mechanical alarms, digital alarms etc etc. When I found this product I knew it was fine be the solution and trust me it was always reliable until one day when I must've damaged it by pulling the battery out morning after morning. But I'll not make that mistake twice and I'm happy to pay in total £100+ to be able to wake up reliably in the morning :)

Best alarm for heavy sleepers HANDS DOWN
I’ve used many of the alarms claiming to be the loudest but this one is genuinely loud and it will wake you up always. It feels like you are waking up to the purge but that’s what’s needed these days. Otherwise it’s quite good the battery lasts about 6 months before it needs replacement from my experience, the alarm gets a little quieter as the battery runs out as well keep this in mind. OTHERWISE, amazing product and a must have for heavy sleepers.

Effective. Would wake the de*d.
I bought this because I am working at 3 jobs and I have to wake up at 7. The product is not very fancy, but it is effective. Everyday I woke up feeling like I am in the war zone. The instructions were very clear to use it. 10/10 recommend

Loud and Easy to Use
I bought this alarm because it is nearly impossible to wake me in the morning. I have purchased bed shaker alarms, clock radios, old style bell alarm clocks and this one comes the closest to doing the job. It is not as loud as I expected but that just be me because my husband and kids tell me it will wake the dead! It is only battery operated tho (9v) but I'm willing to go along with that because it is the loudest alarm I own. The only other thing that is kind of a pain is that you have to go and set the alarm daily...if you go to bed without setting the alarm time and turning the alarm on you're screwed. However, it is handy for travelling and is small in size, but the display is not backlit so is impossible to see the time in the dark, so not suitable if you want to check the time when you wake up in the middle of the night. But all in all, it is a very powerful little unit - surprising considering it's battery powered - and is a good value for very heavy sleepers like myself.
