Review: Really nice unit even better experience - The Sanjean has been an excellent addition to my stereo system. Sure there are some quirks like not being able to add stations to favorites on the unit itself - the user must find the station on the web using a browser to add the desired stations which then appear on the unit. The interface is also clunky and un-intuitive in my opinion. The sound is good, higher end hi-fi, but not true audiofile grade. The output a bit ‘over pumped’, like a vintage tube radio, but this is actually endearing. Where the Sanjean excels is the experience. With a twist of the dial I am in Fiji at a luau, wait now I am in an underground club in Budapest, wait now I am at a symphony hall in Vienna, then I am on the beach in Rio. The access to true international content is fantastic. Sure you could use a computer with good sound card to access web radio, but you just don’t. Plus if you did, try scrolling between stations... My Sanjean has been jamming for a year now and I have had zero problems. My unit is rock solid and stable. The built in buffering eliminates the interrupted listening experience such as you get on phone and computer apps. Strong recommendation here. If my unit ever does fail I plan to replace it forthwith.
Review: Sangean WFT-1 Internet Radio Tuner - As an A/V integrator I find this product to be excellent in sound quality and feature set. However, there would be a few improvements I would suggest for control & options. It would be great to be able to control this device via Ethernet or RS232 instead of IR. It lacks discrete power commands and would be awesome if it provided 2-way feedback for visual confirmation. Also,it would be an advantage to have both SPDIF (coaxial digital audio output) and TOSLINK (optical digital audio output). I set my unit up via wired Ethernet connection. Beyond the control & audio output options; I find this product to be easy to setup and the sound quality to be better than anticipated. It has simple and precise setup with regards to pointing the unit toward the URL of any Internet Radio Station via Frontier's website. I did not use the FM section of the WFT-1; however, I played around with it and this too is above board. Overall, this is an excellent product beyond the Custom A/V Integration world!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this tuner play any mp3 stream for which I give it an URL? Does this radio-frontier.com DB have to be involved?**
A: Yes, frontier has to be involved -- it is the internet portal for almost every internet tuner, whether you visit the site or not. On the Sangean after presetting a station it automatically goes through this portal. By going there and registering you can add any source on the internet as long as you knows the EXACT URL -- you can add through "my added stations". I've done this, and it's pretty easy. Even on the Magnum Dynalab 807T which is a top-of-the-line internet tuner ($4500.00!) which I also own, all internet choices have to go through the frontier portal. If you can download the Sangean user manual, see page 12 for the instructions. This is available at http://www.sangean.com/support/download_content.asp?did=119 . Good luck, and good listening!

**Q: Can I run it on 220v?**
A: No, it will not run on 220 -- anything bought in North America is specifically set for 110 volts. The AC plug will only "fit" a 110 volt outlet. A specialty 220 store might be able to supply one; I suggest you contact either 1-888-726-4326 (in California) or e-mail the factory in Taiwan at ivan@sangean.com.tw .

**Q: Will this tuner play the internet service of SiriusXM?**
A: No. As far as I know, Sirius XM is not on the internet -- it's from a satellite. And I'm sure you know you need a subscription to the service. They supply their own receivers.

**Q: How do you listen to paid radio streaming services like 365Live, which has some free but mostly paid music channels that require a password?**
A: I actually have never tried to listen to any paid services. There are sooooooo many stations to choose from and from all over the globe, that using a paid service has not even been something I felt like trying.

### ⭐ This radio is Junk
*by D***R on February 15, 2013*

This radio stopped responding on the network after about 3 months of service. I had to pay to ship it to CA from PA and include a check for $8 for warranty repair. After about 4 weeks they sent back a different unit and when I tried to configure it, the front panel controls would not work. I was able to configure it using the remote control so I decided to keep it. The unit worked fine until about 2 weeks ago (about 6 weeks after the warranty expired). It acts like it is connecting and streaming but there is no audio output. I replaced it with a Grace Digital GDI-IRBM20 to make sure that my amplifier was working and now I have audio. Sangean will fix the radio if I pay again to ship it back plus a check for $135. The Grace radio was only $185 so I will be throwing away the Sangean and buying another Grace radio. One of the great things about the Grace radio is that it has a built in speaker which helps when troubleshooting.
