GERBER GEAR Gerber Versafix, Machete Knife Hybrid, Black [31-003473]

I don't expect to use my longer machetes again. This one chops just as well, due to forward-heavy design, and it is much easier to lug around on my belt all day.

Works nicely

Comfortable to hold. It has a good weight to it. Chops and batons wood really well. Sharp right out of the box and holds edge nicely so far. I was able to baton a bundle of firewood and still make feather sticks easily. Probably my new go-to blade for camping, replacing both my belt knife and hatchet on most trips. It's just too bad they put it in a sad nylon sheath with a flimsy velcro retention strap. This knife feels like it will outlast the sheath by far.I got this on an open box discount, and I'm very satisfied with what I got for my money, but had I paid full price I would have returned this based on the quality of the sheath alone and gone with something else.

Easy to handle to cut small branches.

Awesome camp tool for chipping fire wood. Strong and tough enough to take a beating for splitting camp fire logs. The edge did not measure up to the Gerber's Reputation of holding a sharp edge.

Bought this just to baton firewood while camping. Because of the price I figured that if it didn't work it won't be a big loss. And I definitely wasn't expecting much. But, once I start chopping up wood for the fire I was very surprised. This knife made quick work of the wood and in no time I had the kindling for the bonfire. The only downside is that it's made in china

Hit a couple small rocks when cutting off banana trees at the soil line. Left dings in the edge
