Great gadget - perfect for TV viewing where there's no cable outlet
I bought the AVS-5811 system (transmitter and receiver) about 8 months ago to replace a 2.4ghz product that we'd used for about 18 months prior to that. We didn't want to deal with installing a cable outlet for a TV in the kitchen, and a wireless transmitter seemed like a good idea. The 2.4ghz transmitter worked OK - but would get heavy static any time our cordless phones rang or we used the microwave. We were finally motivated to upgrade to a 5.8ghz version when our new wireless-N router caused constant static w/ the old model. So far, so good - no problems to date with the AVS-5811 at all. No interference from phones, microwave or wireless router and the picture from our Digital cable box to the LCD TV about 25 feet away in the kitchen is great. The only limitation is that you'd have to change channels using the actual cable box, so if you're not in range for your cable remote to work, you have to walk over to do it. Not a problem for us, since we've got line of site to the source cable box, but it could be a hassle for some people. I think there's some sort of remote extender device avail, but I haven't explored that. I definitely recommend the AVS-5811 for anyone who wants to view cable TV in a location without a convenient cable outlet, and I'm buying an extra receiver (AVS-5813) for use in another room.

Good alternative to additional Direct TV/Dish Network receiver
I have three of these units. We moved and Direct TV was going to charge me over $100 for an additional receiver plus the $5.00 per month rental fee for it. If the unit lasts for more than a year, it has paid for itself (I paid $64.81 for it in August and am waiting for it to drop again). Right now it is over-priced. It works on different levels of the house and I even took it out on the patio to watch the game. You will occasionally get interference on it when someone walks between the sender and receiver. You can usually move the receiver antenna a bit to clear this up. After reading some of the reviews, I would recommend purchasing a single sender and receiver unit first to see how it works in your house.

Great for monitoring security cameras on multiple tvs in the same house ...
I bought this extra receiver so that I could add this to the RF Link transmitter and receiver I have already been using for a couple years to watch tv without extra cable boxes. Now that we have moved to a much larger house, I have re-purposed them all and added them to my security system. We now use them to transmit the signal from the security camera DVR/NVR (locked in a closet upstairs) to the two main televisions we use downstairs. Now, when someone rings the door bell, we just switch the the input on the remote and all of the security cameras come up on the tv so we can see who is parked in the driveway and at the front door. You can use multiple receivers with a single transmitter as long as they are on the same channel. We may buy one more of these to transmit to an additional tv in another bedroom. This model does NOT transmit our camera signals in HD but resolution is quite good. If we ever need to go back and look at higher quality pictures, we can always go back to the the DVR which records in HD.

purpose good, longevity [oor
The first pair I owned lasted quite a long time. Then failure started. I replaced the transmitter and it was Ok, then the receiver failed. I gave up and ordered a whole new set, per my last order and hope thtis will last me a long time. It is expensive to have to continue buying replacements.

Pretty good system, but unreliable.
The tough part is adjusting the receiver's antenna to get a clear picture. If you can do that, no problems. I had purchased this same set 3 years ago. When the receiver unit failed, I ordered two separate replacement receiver units, however, neither worked with the original transmitter so I wound up having to buy another complete set. Reliability and good craftsmanship are definitely not traits that I could attribute to this product.

WAS happy...
This item worked for about a month and a half okay. I learned early on that every once in a while I would have to turn all units off and on to apparently reset the system. While this was inconvenient, I didn't mind the hassle in return for the convenience of having Tivo in all rooms I wanted. Over the last week, however. Now I get clear picture for about 15 minutes til I get lines and a buzz in the sound. It is very annoying. So I repeatedly get up to turn on and off both the receiver and the transmitter. 15 minutes later I am doing ti again. For the last 3 days. Tonight the reset routine has stopped working and suddenly the remote feature has completly stopped working. This item isn't worth the cost at all. This should be sold at $20 a unit due to the fact that it only works for a little while, according to my experience and apparently many others if you read other reviews. I am sure that I would have just been better off buying separate DVR Tivo receivers for my rooms. It would have been at least more reliable. Oh well. No one is forcing companies to provide quality. Just another rip off. Stay away. don't bother. too much money for the hassle. Doesn't WORK!

These work great
I live in a new house in an area with no cable and no high speed lines, we don't even have cell coverage. The Satellite company wanted to drop fat black cables into each room from the roof. There are 2 units needed for this to work, a sender hooked to the satellite box and a receiver (even in a different room) hooked to a TV. You get the idea and no tacky cables for me. Hookup is easy, no complicated settings, there is some interference with microwave oven and other kitchen appliances but if they are located so the signal does not have to pass through the appliances you won't have a problem. My satellite installer copied down the name and model # for use in his own home.

Finally found an A/V system that works!
After trying out an 2.4 GHz A/V setup from another company that totally didn't work even when I disabled all devices in my home operating in that band I decided to try the RF Link even though I had read that it was very picky when it came to aligning the antenna on each unit. I installed the transmitter in the living room and one receiver in the kitchen (pretty clear shot with no obstructions) and another receiver on the second floor. I had perfect video and audio as soon as I turned on the receivers without having to bother to point the antenna on either unit. Also the IR control function works well. So far I've very happy with this equipment.
