It’s metal all the way around and the front element doesn’t stick out so I have a UV filter on for protection. On the Zcam E2 M4 the locking twist is solid as well. Doesn’t budge for me once locked in. You can rack focus without the zoom effect. I got the 16mm lens and it is heavy (as compared to a kit lens), but that is due to a lot of glass in this lens. I really like the smooth f stop feature and the large amount of travel in the focus (helps to more accurately focus).
