BETTER TO USE WHEN YOU CARNT HOLD SMALL THINGS

I bought this because it had the multiple size holes and I have a couple of pencils (caran d'ache luminance) that are fatter than others and tricky getting them into my electric sharpener. H O W E V E R I don't know what's wrong with this machine, but it seems to be erratic in performance. It sharpened the first caran d'ache to a lovely point but the second one just mangled it and seemed to suck up several inches ! Arrggh !! Expensive. It did a similar job on a couple of Prismacolors that I don't use often and one was fine the other half of it disappeared and was only half sharpened.It' s also very stiff to operate and turning the handle at times feels like its stuck and at others loose. The size dial on the front is also very difficult to turn and if occasionally turn it the wrong way it unlocks the whole front case (how it's emptied). Bits of led get stuck in the grinders and because I mounted it can't be picked up and shaken. It's also quite cheaply made, though I have to say that the grinders are very sharp.Overall I wouldn't recommend it nor buy it again. I did think about sending it back UNTIL I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS SENT FROM LAS VEGAS IN THE U S A !!!! If I had known that when ordering I wouldn't have bothered and it did say global store on the item page, but who's looking at this stuff when buying something - I am spending enough time trying to find out if it's any good and what others think, and often forget to find out where it's being sent from. They will refund me the cost of the item and it says up to £20 to ship from UK which is what it would cost, but I think it's a terrible waste of resources to ship it in the first place and even more to send it back. So I am cutting my losses and putting in the bin. I might keep the box - quite sturdy and useful for oddments !Amazon : Note, it would be useful to warn when the item is coming from other than Europe. It doesnt mean I won't buy it, just that I will find an alternative locally.
