Good Grips Julienne Prep Peeler

Cuts well but strips are only a couple of mm so a tad thinner than I usually cut Julienne strips but it's difficult to cut them this small and consistently by hand. It's a good, fast and cheap way to Julien veg but maybe a little too thin. That's a matter of taste though. Good product happy with purchase.

This actually works unlike others I've bought. It doesn't get my fingers like my last one. Neither does the carrot get stuck all the time in the blade. It does a little sometimes, but nothing like my old one which was almost impossible to use. Really pleased with this one.

Really sharp and efficient at shaving long thin julienne strips off vegetables- so far done carrots and celery only. I give it 4 stars simply because it’s hard, if not impossible, to use the entire veg using this peeler, always a bit at the end that you can no longer use so have to resort to cutting some of it by hand. Overall, a good gadget though.

Just use it for carrots for a salad and it does a perfect job of them. Bought a cheap version to take on holiday and now I realise just how good my oxo one is.

I've always had a mandolin slicer that has different interchangeable plates for julienne and different slicing thicknesses. After my previous mandolin slicer gave up the ghost I decided to switch to the OXO branded slicer because it seemed to be better quality. The oxo branded slicer doesn't have a julienne option so I had to buy the peeler separately.The first few times I tried to use it I tried to hold the vegetable in my hand and peel. This just doesn't work well at all and you end up breaking off bits of carrot and things get stuck in it. You cut yourself. It's just generally a bad idea.What works really well is to use a fork to hold down whatever vegetable your trying to cut on a chopping board and to run the peeler down the length of the vegetable. This will give you lovely long ribbons with very little effort and no chance of cutting yourself. You can cut a lot more of the vegetable by doing it this way because you can get much closer to the fotk than your hands and if it get stoo thin, flip the vegetable around. It works really well and I'm really happy with it now.

This does what you expect it to do.I have successfully julienned several carrots and one of my fingers.I am happy I no longer have to do julienne with a knife.My only complaint and the reason I only scored it 3 stars is the handle is too small for my big man hands . It’s probably perfect for a petite lady.

I had been putting off a purchase for age because I'm a bit of a sucker for kitchen gadgets and thought that I didn't need it. I was wrong! It's an absolute game changer in the kitchen! It makes finely slicing veg an absolute breeze. Some reviews have complained about the size of the peeler but personally I've had no issues and I have relatively big hands. Using the peeler is quite a dexterous activity so having a bigger peeler would make things a bit cumbersome.Its an extremely sharp tool and requires, concentration and precision to use therefore I would not recommend anyone with fine motor difficulties or young children using. The peeler comes with a blade guard *keep this* as it helps safe storage of the tool and prevents blades getting damaged.As you can see from the photos the peeler works well on a variety of different shaped/ textured veg, carrots, cucumber, spring onion etc. I haven't yet but would like to try on squash, I think it would still work... will post an update when do.

Priceless kitchen tool for me. I use it about once a day, and it has stayed sharp for well over a year now. Just bought a serving one because I left the first one behind on accident after a vacation.Makes the most excellent thin shreds for coleslaw with very little effort. The only downside is that it can be difficult to clean if you don't rinse it immediately, or if anything sticky gets on it.One of my favorite small kitchen tools.

I used to shred carrots by julienning them with a knife, which is not easy. I had no idea you could buy shredders like this until I saw one at a friend’s house. It is so fast! And so much safer than using a knife. It resembles a potato peeler and is used in much the same way - I peeled a carrot and then cut into it the same way I would peel skin off a carrot or potato and I got a whole lot of shreds. The blade must be pretty sharp as it cut so well and each piece of carrot was same shape. Mess was minimal, the only thing I had left at the end was a thin slice of carrot which became a snack for the cook.The Oxo Good Grips brand is well known for comfortable handles and reliable products. The shredder fitted nicely in my hand and was very easy to use. Given the quality of the Oxo brand I would expect this shredder to be very durable and last a long time, so it should be worth the money I paid.
