Melbye Stainless Steel Watch for Men

this is one of the first items in my watch collection. when i received it, the box was normal and when i saw, it was really good looking compared to standard watches. the straps are good, i liked them and easy to adjust. thickness is very good, thinner than normal watches. almost a month ago started using daily and it looks very good.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I get compliments on this watch all the time. It’s slim profile and unique design make it a great everyday watch. The hands are very slim and at times difficult to read. But overall a great watch and I love looking at it! The adjustable clasp design is a huge plus as you can adjust to various sizes without having to go to a jeweler to remove links. VERY functional!

Though it was difficult at first to set the say, date, and time due to a printing error in the directions, I finally figured it out. The direction shows three positions for the pullout know (position one for time setting, position two for month setting, and position three for day/date setting). However, there is no position three on the watch. With all that said, the watch is keeping excellent time. It is a sleek design and is great for doing activities since it is lite and sits closely to your skin.

I've worn Skagen watches for years and every one of them received unsolicited compliments, esp one they no longer make. But my other two lasted probably average of 6 years. Batteries need replacing every 6 mo to 1 year but they keep time well although the second hand does not precisely align with the second tics on the watch face and to me that just yells cheap. In every other way--size, weight heft, comfort, awareness--it really feels super nice and I have no doubt I will get compliments on this one too. From experience I would not subject this or any other Skagen watch to heavy duty work. It will actually take it but the crystal will get scratched or in worse cases can be cracked. In fact, that's why I needed a new watch. I tried a cheap $30 casio--perfectly acceptable and a decent watch but just not for me. So there ya have it maties..hope this info serves ya well!

Watch looks great in person. It just goes so nicely with any outfit, casual or formal. It's now my go-to watch for any occasion. I get at least 1 compliment a day on it. I have pretty small wrists and was worried this wouldn't fit well on me, but it fits just fine. I had to move the adjuster way up and there's a lot of slack, but it does indeed fit. The only downside is that it's difficult to read in the dark. The watch does glow... but it's very faint and not really that helpful. It also sometimes catches my hair when I put the watch on, but it's not really that bad. Your hair will catch on most watches when you put them on. The mesh band on this watch though may make it more frequent. It's not a big enough deal for me to stop wearing it though. Overall, very happy so far and I love getting compliments on it. ****1 Year Update**** The watch is still ticking perfectly since the day I bought it! I continue to get loads of compliments on it.

Nice looking for a first look and I like "Denmark" on the dial. Yet, I returned it since the second hand did not even land on the markers.

I love the design look and feel of this watch, unfortunately it is let down by a fundamental quality problem. The first watch I received a had a problem where the second hand did not align with the second markings around the face of the watch. It always pointed between the markings. So for example, at the start of every minute the second hand pointed just to the left or right of the '60' label at the top of the orange circle. I returned the watch for a replacement (at least Amazon's policy here is good and makes this very easy). The replacement watch I received was worse...the second hand moved erratically, not with even steps. So not only did it not align to the second markers with each 'tick', it also varied how far it moved with each 'tick': sometimes it would only move about half a second worth of distance, and other times it would jump 1-2 seconds at a time! I returned this watch for a refund and won't be buying any more Skagen watches.. This poor quality is something I wouldn't even expect from a $20 or $30 watch, but it is completely unacceptable from a watch costing more than 6 times that!

For anyone contemplating purchasing this device, let me tell you, the pictures do not flatter the watch once you see it in person. The top-outer rim of the case has more sheen to it than photos indicate, adding that extra subtle detail to its beauty. I've had to suspend a drool-catch from my jaw to keep my slobber from surpassing the watch's water resistance. (that being perhaps one downside of Skagens) The watch has a healthy weight to it. Not too heavy like those obnoxious Invicta batter-rams, but a good, quality heft about it. The practicality of the day/date function is subjective I suppose. If you're fine with adjusting the date once in a while for those shorter months, then it's a nice feature. The band is simple enough for a dweller of the cave variation. The orange ring on the face is understated, but still pops enough (especially in sunlight) that people have to take notice. This watch simply oozes charisma and is only for people who obsess over details and style. Just buy the watch and look sharper than everyone else. That is all.
