My son loves this
My son turned 7 and for his birthday wanted all sorts or rediculously expensive electronic devices. He LOVES this and it is great to see him playing with something my husband and I can remember playing with as children. We have as much fun as he does. It keeps my 7 yo entertained for hours, but is simple enough for my 4 yo and a good way for him to learn his letters. I know the electronics aren't necessary, but the kids love to hear them blow up. I really love the way it folds up. We haven't lost any pieces yet, and if you could see their shared bedroom you'd be really impressed by that.

Very educational toy
The voice mode (computer?) is quite good, and there are a lot of ways to fight your opponent, but I love the single player mode the best! (So that my son can play by himself! :) To battle with the aid of the on-board computer, you have to input the coordinate of the ships. So the child needs to understand the coordinates and how to input stuff to a simple keyboard built into this toy. Then there are search mode, missiles, etc in advanced weapons mode. The game is more fun and you'll able to finish a lot quicker, and you can never cheat each other. Only negative is this does not have much storage for the little pins, and the structure is not very stable.

READY TO LOSE MY MIND! Scripted voice makes this game un-enjoyable!
I had electronic battleship when I was a kid. I give that one 4-5 stars. THIS version is very similar and the button inputs are nicer, when compared to the sliders on the old version. BUT SERIOUSLY, after an hour of hearing a ridiculous alien voice say "Target acquired! Ready to strike!" OVER and OVER again, every 30 seconds. I want to lose my mind. To make it even worse...you must wait for the game to finish talking before you can fire. I find myself mashing the fire button hoping and praying for the voice to cut off. Pros: Battleship is a great game Angled board makes it hard to peak at your opponent Cons: Scripted Voice over and over and over again, gets super annoying. Makes the game un-enjoyable.

B-12, and my favorite vitamin I might add...
Very nice upgrade to the original game. Takes a little more time to setup but a lot of fun. There is a level of strategy to the game, so spending time with your kids and teaching them is fun. Good luck keeping up with all the small pieces.

Nice Gift
I gave this to my grandson about a year ago. He really likes it, but he is only 6 and it says for 8 years old. It is frustrating for him as well as myself. I have put it away until he gets older. However, it is a nice toy.

Stick with the original
The electronics on this one are mostly just a pain to use. The voices get very annoying and it slows the gameplay down to a crawl. My 7 and 11 year olds tired of this quickly. Played twice and is now in closet at the bottom of the pile. 1980's technology. We did not try out any of the advanced game modes because they looked absolutely bewidering. No way kids would ever be able to figure that out. Expected better for the price. Pass on this one.

Electronic Battleship
This Battleship Movie Edition electronic game, was a gift for my grandson. Though the game itself is fun, this game seems to have memory issues. It doesn't correctly register the placement of the ships- at least the aircraft carrier, leaving it impossible to sink all ships. It can be played in the traditional fashion, but defeats the purpose of an electronic version.

great game
I purchased this for a christmas present for my two boys 13 and 10 years old. They love it, some of the reviews said that it was difficult to set up and play but they have had no trouble they live the voice and the sound effects
