Best bug zapper I have ever owned!
This is the best bug zapper I have ever had! It works really well and keeps all of the mosquitoes from eating me when I'm outside. It was so nice to be able to have a family dinner outside and have the mosquitoes attracted to the bug zapper to the point where there were literally none around the table that we were sitting at. The table was also a good distance away from the bug zapper so I know that it was attracting them all there and I didn't have one mosquito bite on me from staying outside that night.

it works well the moment it is plugged in. Strongly recommended.
No wonder this bug zapper has a high rating - it just plain works! The construction is strong, the performance is awesome, and the price is reasonable. It began zapping mosquitos, flies, and gnats immediately after being plugged in. The 40 Wt bulb is bright, but not excessively so. Neighbors should not find it objectionable. We didn't install the bug attractant, choosing to see how well it worked just with the blacklight. A couple of minutes after plugging the unit in we were zapping 1-3 bugs per second. So it works, and has continued to work nightly for the two months since we purchased it. We find it superior in construction to what we saw at HD. Hopefully it will last for more than one season.

These work great! (Just aren't clog-free)
These zappers work great. I actually bought 2 for my house, front & back. BUT they are not clog-free. Every night it kills hundreds of bugs. Every morning I have to go & clear it out so it's unclogged the next night for the bugs to get zapped/ electrocuted.I actually bought a little handheld rechargeable blower to blow the bugs off- like a can of air, but a machine, not a can. I had tried a little brush but that was difficult, time-consuming & gross. The little blower works great. The mosquitos still swarm my doorways, though, even though the zapper is 25 ft away from my door as directed. So I'm gonna try the DUNKS to put in standing water. The have a bacteria that disrupts the life cycle of mosquitos to where they die before they get big enough to bite. The water is still safe for everyone.

Works Great in Hot Southern California Weather
The Flowtron Bug Zapper has been a big help in keeping bugs under control in the hot Southern California weather. It covers a wide area, attracts pests effectively, and noticeably reduces the number of mosquitoes and flies in the yard. Easy to set up, low maintenance, and very effective—definitely worth it for outdoor comfort.

Great over the years
Zaps and kills everything. Had it for 4 years now and it runs great every summer. I live next to the wetlands. It kills a ton of bugs nightly and has lasted longer than the Black Flag ones that I used to buy. I run one in my front yard and one in back. When the screens get "full", I just hose them down with the garden hose or flush out the screen with my backpack blower.

Very effective
My first flowtron lasted four years outside all year round in NE Texas. It performs perfectly. The insects here in a rainy year are out of control. This unit helps cut the insects down on our property to a manageable level. I place it hanging in a tree about 50 feet from our house near the door we use the most. This attracts the insects away from the doorway instead of them swarming the windows and doors of the house most of the time. To clean the grid, I just tap on both sides of the outer plastic cage and watch all the dead insects fall daily. Larger insects will sit in it an sizzle for 60 seconds or longer and will smell like burnt hair... fyi... ;-)

This Product Is The Worst, please read for reasons why, thanks!
I am incredibly disappointed with the flowtron bug zapper. I bought it because of the product claim that the flowtron BK-40D would annihilate 99.9% of all mosquitoes (plus a ton of other bugs), living in/located within/or just having the unfortunate luck of being in the full acre surrounding the flowtron. We have two acres, so I thought this would be the perfect weapon to fight the hordes of mosquitoes that unfortunately infiltrate our property each year. I figured I’d get two and that would take care of our entire property. HOW EXCITING 🤗!!! However, I was at least smart enough to just try one flowtron to begin with until I got a real understanding of how the thing worked, and to obviously get some first-hand experience before completely falling for the hype. (I should also mention that this zapper also promised some other “to-good-to-be-true type things, but they mostly relied on purchasing some other accessories before they’d be proven to be true or (more likely) disappoint the masses.) However, I decided to just stick with the basic mosquito massacre model, so I went on Amazon and ordered the flowtron BK-40D. Based on everything I read about this machine, I truly believed I was in for nothing short of a miracle, but boy was I wrong!!!! Not only was it pretty much identical to every other mosquito zapping machine I’ve ever seen/owned, but the thing came with some pack of liquid or something to stick on the machine in order to attract a cult of kool-aid drinking bunnies or something like that...oh wait, now that I think about it, I think it was actually for getting giant jumping spiders to commit suicide, (not even joking about that one)! I mean not really , or at least not specifically for euthanizing Charlotte and her chubby family members, but I promise you, it did come with a packet meant to do some sort of major damage to some type of living creature. But, unfortunately, the instructions I received about attaching the packet, slash using the original product as intended were so incredibly hard to comprehend, I had to eventually give up. And there’s even more to this tragedy...PLOT TWIST!!! How exciting, right?!? Not right...the stupid thing broke within a couple of weeks. And on top of that (yes, there’s more!!!), I made sure to study the machine’s success each and every day. (To do this, one must look at the zapper with one’s own eyes and determine whether or not the zapper is actually zapping. (A pile of bugs underneath the machine and pieces of crusty wing stuck to the machine are exactly the kind of evidence you’d be needing as proof that the zapper is zapping.) So anyway, each morning I’d go out expecting to see evidence that the machine was working and doing the job it had been given. And each day, I’d pass by the zapper with a familiar pang of disappointment. No piles of dead mosquitoes...no collage of crusty wrinkled wings, ...just a flowtron BK-40D, hanging there and mocking the excitement I once had that we’d “finally get a handle on that annoying mosquito problem”. Just like our daughter’s pool, cowering in the background, green with algae, mocks the excitement our children once had to play in the 81,892 square feet of what was once our yard, but during spring and summer months, it is better known as the bordello of sucking blood and the house of encephalitis, malaria and ill repute. AKA the 81,892 square foot breeding ground for one of the most annoying and vile creatures God could have ever allowed on planet Earth. But I digress. As I was saying, the flowtron was not living up to the promises it made about killing all the mosquitoes within a one mile radius, let alone killing the ones hanging around our back porch. It was pathetic. I mean, I literally watched a mosquito fly around the flowtron, and then stop and land on it. And I swear, I saw that thing laughing hysterically and flipping me off, just taking a break on what was supposed to be the literal depiction of a mosquito killing machine...yet here it is, just hanging there, available to these freaking mosquitoes for their rest and relaxation whenever they just want to take a breather, ya know?!? I mean c’mon!!! At that point, I was just about at the last straw if you will...AND THEN IT HAPPENED... I wanna say this was maybe two and a half, maybe three weeks after I shelled out the what, maybe $50, $60 or something like that to buy what I thought was going to be our miracle solution, the flowtron BK-40D......AND THE DAMN THING BROKE! I kid you not. THAT’S RIGHT: $60, 3 WEEKS AFTER BUYING IT, IT FREAKING BROKE!!! SOMETHING ELECTRICAL THAT ONLY A SPECIALIST CAN FIX!!! This machine that was a, yes I know, “zapper“, was still supposed to be the top-of-the-line, best-in-its-class, can’t get any better, #1 Ever Made bug zapper, specializing in the supposedly humane method of exterminating mosquitoes. And it broke after three weeks! The light turned to a faint purple when it was plugged in and it was no longer able to injure, mame or kill any bug of any kind. I called the number on the website and no one was able to help me. I could try to have them replace it, but they wanted me to pay for the new one up front and then send them back the “old one” (though in my mind 3 weeks will never in any way be considered “old”.) If the problem with the “old one” isn’t covered under the very very extremely limited warranty, then I am stuck with having to pay $60 for each zapper, $120 total. But, if the problem is covered under the very very limited warranty, then I would get a refund of the $60 I just paid for the replacement zapper. After receiving this explanation as basically my only option (unless I wanted to go to a private electrician, mechanic or engineer to fix whatever the problem was with the original, and then pay them whatever their fee is to fix it...YEAH RIGHT!!!) So basically, I realized that this was just going to be a lose-lose-lose situation for me. I’d lose my money, I’d lose the zapper and I’d LOSE MY MIND!!! So I figured I’d just stick with the L/L/L plan, basically because It’s the cheapest option, and I didn’t feel like being ripped off by anyone else. So basically, the zapper (Flowtron BK-40D) SUCKS ASS! The company who makes/sells it and provides the customer service on the worst warranty in history SUCKS ASS! But, most of all, mosquitoes SUCK MAJOR ASS!!!! So, I 100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND you buy the Flowtron BK-40D, unless you feel like getting ripped off or if you have some weird fetish for being ripped off and it’s cheaper to buy the flowtron than some weirdly specific prostitute, then I would say to go ahead and steer clear of buying this crappy machine now or in the future, unless they make a version in say 20 years that doesn’t SUCK ASS, but I think we all know that’s not very likely! So what I’m saying is, I bought this product, it SUCKS ASS, I 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND the Flowtron BK-40D, I am giving this product 1 star, oh yeah, and MOSQUITOES SUCK ASS TOO!!! Thanks for reading my review!!! Have a wonderful day!!!
