Meguiar's X2000EU Water Magnet Drying Towel

I am from Singapore. Instead of water hose, I use 2 buckets of water to wash my stone-black 2009 Hyundai Avante(aka Elantra in the US) in a multi-storey carpark. Usually after rinsing the car, the areas that gather most water puddles are the roof, bonnet and trunk. Previously when using cheap microfibre towels, I have to do 3-5 passes on these areas before getting it properly dried. After the first pass it will always leave streaks of small to medium sized droplets as the towels just can't absorb all the water in one go. I have to go over the same area few more times while flipping towel to the dry side. I try to stay disciplined and wash my car every weekend. Each time when it comes to drying the car I wasn't that enthusiastic as it is tiresome. With this meg towel, I started on the roof with the most water puddles. With just 1 pass I was able to clear up water puddles and droplets on half the roof! I say "half the roof" cuz my hand is not long enough to cover the entire roof when standing on one side of the car. As I swipe the towel from right to left, the areas on the right side that has been wiped came out clean. Amazing sight to behold. This towel drinks water for breakfast. A second swipe is all it takes for the area to be completely dry. Walked to the other side of the car, made 2 more swipes with the towel - entire roof dried and ready for meg's ultimate quik detailer. Thought to myself "Bloody Hell, should have got this baby 2 years ago!". Flipped to another dry side of the towel and went over the trunk and bonnet - done within a minute and proceeded to the door panels. This thing, as product title says, is a bloody magnet - really can absorb water well better than any other normal microfibre/bath towels and does not leave crap behind. Noticed the towel slowly gets heavier as it absorbs more water. I literally dried my car within 3 friggin' mins(instead of 12) WITHOUT wringing the towel! . In fact I did try to wring out the water, but NOTHING comes out! Means that the towel still has capacity to absorb water ! I am getting another of this for my tires and rims, as I usually apply tire shine after wiping the tires dry. They don't work that well on wet rims and tires. Definitely a must-get for car freaks who wash their own cars!

Super absorbent, soft and seems to be of high quality that will last a long time.

The best drying towel I have found for drying my cars off after a car wash, I have three now so I stash a clean one in the car for those quick trips to the car wash.

Updated 5/13/19 - I forgot about writing this review almost five years ago now and I am still using this cloth. I decided to purchase another one and then remembered this review. Some of the things I noted are correct, but I have since come to appreciate the value in using this cloth to get off the bulk of the water, which is how I use it. I don't think it is meant to "dry" off your vehicle completely after washing. If that is what you expect then you will be disappointed. But if you want a cloth that can suck up a lot of water, wring out easily and dry out quickly when done, this works very well. I use it to get the water off of the horizontal surfaces e.g. hood, top, truck lid, etc., and the top part of the door panels. I don't go much lower than that as I don't want to pick up and grit that might not have been rinsed all the way off. After getting the bulk of the water off I switch to my cotton towels to do the final drying. Doing it in that order works out very well and ends up saving a lot of time. When I am done I hang it on a nail in the garage and let it air dry, as I do with my other car towels, so it's ready to go the next time. I wash it occasionally and when I do I do not add softener as it tends to impact the ability to soak up water for a while and can leave streaks too - just a side note. Obviously it's made well as I have been using the same one since 2014. Its' getting a little worn so I am picking up a new one, but it's still in good shape really and I use it at least 2-3 times a week during the summer months. My only ding is I wish it were a bit larger. Original Review from 2014: Let me state up front - I was my car a lot and I mean a lot. Two to three times a week or more. I normally use soft cotton bath towels and change them out as I go so I always have one semi dry towel to remove the last bit of water. I don't have problems with this method as I clean my towels often and keep my car waxed so the system works well for me. No scratches or swirls. But...I thought I might be missing something so I got one of these towels and frankly I really can't see the point. While it might be softer than a normal cotton or terrycloth towel and does soak up a lot of water, it pretty much stays wet after that. You can wring it out, but it just spreads water after the initial use no matter how much you wring it. If you're going to use it as a first pass to soak up the majority of the water then I guess it's okay. But as your car starts to dry you end up putting more water down then was there when you started. Unless you have a bunch of these towels so you can always have a dry one, it's not any better than the method I use now. I just don't get the point or value in using these towels and they're pretty small too. I don't know that it will ever be part of my normal car washing routine, but it's unlikely. It's a nice towel, so I might find some other use for it as some point. I can't recommend this to anyone for it's intended purpose. Just use some good soft bath towels and save your money.

Like a few others, this is my first non leather chamois for drying my cars. I use primarily Maguiars products on my vehicles, so this product had a lot to live up to, and it didn't disappoint. It may not "stick" like a traditional chamois to the car, but it sure does absorb a LOT more water! From the start I was impressed. It's absorbency is second to none. I had to go over a few spots where there were still small areas of water "streaks", but that's pretty normal on my car. I used it to dry the glass, and for once, I didn't have water stains or streaks (I have well water) on the glass, and that right there made this cloth priceless to me. It really did a fantastic job, is easy to use, doesn't get "heavy" like a chamois, came up looking like new after being washed (in the washing machine), is still soft and ready to be used again. I am OCD about my cars, so when I say this is my new favorite item I use, I truly mean it. It is fantastic. It's durable, extremely absorbent, great size, washable, and doesn't get that slimy feel that leather chamois get. I... Love... It. Exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend! 10/10⭐

Dismiss all these 5 star reviews - you're reading text from someone who has tried tons of them and is also a Meguiar's 'fan-boy' - even took one of their detailing classes a while back & almost exclusively use Meguiar's product. My guess is that all these glowing reviews are half from users that haven't compared or if they have compared they did so with other cheap towels & the other half from users that hadn't experienced a 'waffle weave - microfiber' drying towel before. Fact is that this towel is skimpy-thin compared to what's available and should be about 6" wider in both directions. Maybe it's ok if you own a Mini Cooper but even then I'm disappointed in Meguiar's quality on this one. There are far better, not to mention larger, microfiber towels out there for drying and since drying towels last a long time they are worth the extra price for quality & size. I'm not saying a drying towel has to be 'plush' to do a better job - I'm saying that my two existing / remaining towels that survived the cut (sorry tore tags off long ago) work way better. One's white & twice as thick as the Megiuar's & the other is blue with deeper pockets and also thicker - maybe ChemGuys not sure. Whatever - forget the number of positive reviews they've just never used a proper drying towel before, so do yourself a long term favor and keep looking. *edit - I found the name of the white waffle weave (thicker, denser, with deeper pockets) microfiber towel in photo - it's the Aquis Microfiber Hair Towel Waffle 19 x 39. It really is a cut above the other waffle towels designed for cars, quality weave and they don't fray. The size of 19 x 39 is ideal, it holds far more water (not just because of size), and dries quickly. (Tip - try to squeegee windows first with water blade to remove excess water. Though 'water blades' are technically not the greatest idea for use on clearcoat everyone uses them anyways - the issue being if you missed cleaning a spot on your car and you later use a water blade to evacuate water the silicone blade could burnish the dirty area into paint). Aquis makes other towels and sizes so be careful. The one I have found to work is 19 x 39 and has a "square" label (not rectangular) that you will need to cut the threads off of to remove. Can't vouch for thickness of their other sizes. These are microfiber 'Hair Drying' towels, so see if your woman has one already, just don't tell her what you're about to experiment with it for if you want to live.

Have tried a few microfibre towels form amazon and this one is it! It's not nloverly large but big enough to dry a towel with a few wrings. Totally reccomend.

This absorbs water quite well which makes drying time shorter
