Always install moulding in a relaxed position. Use construction or panel adhesive continuously on the backside and nails to secure moulding in place until adhesive bonds. Remember – do not use staples to fasten material, keep nails to a minimum (no closer than 6 inches between nails), and do not nail closer than 3/8 inch from edge of moulding. Flex Trim is stable and will not absorb moisture and is ideal for humid environments. It is not affected by heat or cold and can withstand extreme environments. ALWAYS lay out the material to let it relax back into its original shape; this is a good time to double-check molding style and application. NEVER pre-finish the material prior to installation. The material may flex during installation and cause fractures in the finish. ALWAYS make certain that the surface you are applying the material to is flat and smooth. Flexible molding will follow any irregularities in the surface. NEVER use staples or nails with large heads. Keep nails to a minimum and away from edges to avoid "bumps" at the edge. I needed flexible molding to trim along the bottom rounded base of my staircase. This product worked perfect. With small finish nails, I tacked the flexible molding in place to make the bottom of the staircase look finished. It looks professionally done! Ladies, no excuses...you too can be a "master carpenter" and complete what was seemingly impossible wood projects! Review: Did the job - I tried two other flexible shoe trim option before opting to purchase the FlexTrim #WM126. I initially avoided this product because it was $25 for eight feet, while the big box product was less than $10 each. The other two (from the big box retailer) didn't have the flexibility to wrap the curvature around the stairs. I shrugged my shoulders and bought this -- needing something better than what I had. This flexed well (and even allowed me to cover the area where I cut and installed a plank that was a tad too short). I pressed the head of my nailer snugly on the surface. It did leave a dent in the shoe trim each time. I was able to spackle these dents when filling the nail holes -- turned out to be unnoticeable. It took paint well-enough; not quite the same texture as the pine shoe trim used next to it. I don't think too many will even notice. All-in-all, we're happy. Follow the suggestions. Heat, PL, and pin nails. Don’t bother going with finish nails. Miter saw and coping is doable. Once you get towards the straight cut along the wall, you can use a utility knife to get the right fit. The heat will likely alter your original measurement/cut.
