I have shoes in both models and personally think the grip is better on the sole of model 2. Others have stated the boot is not waterproof. This is not my experience I have splashed through puddles and stayed dry though I will treat regularly to maintain this. The boots sits just on my ankle bone. Ideally I'd prefer it to cover my ankle bone - my old boots did so these feel slightly less supporting but not so much that I'd return them. The price is an excellent reduction. P.S.: to identify the right size for you, measure your feet following the size guide instructions: I had to get a pair 1.5 sizes bigger than my usual size.
