So, lets start with an honest disclosure: I have a complicated relationship with tea. I have read much about the health benefits of tea and wish to replace my sugar infused liquid bad habits with something healthier. Simple enough you might think, however, that’s where the complicated part comes into play; I absolutely despise the taste of tea. Preparing for this review, I invested some time into ensuring that I accurately convey the level of disgust I experience on my taste buds while consuming tea. Turns out “Hate”, which is a very powerful word to express an “intense or passionate dislike for something or someone” and was my go-to descriptor, is not at all accurate. In the hierarchy of English words used to convey dislike and negativity, it appears that hate takes a back seat to “Loathe” which itself sits behind “Abhor”. To give you some perspective of my level of abhorrence for the taste: Were I present at Boston Harbor on December 16th of 1773, I would have joined the Sons of Liberty in throwing crates of tea into the harbor, not just for the sake of raising hell about taxation without representation, but just as importantly to me, ridding the world of the foul taste of that repugnant vile weed. In my search to find a brand of tea that is somewhat palatable to my anti-tea taste buds, I have tried many different brands & types. I have attempted to camouflage the taste with honey, lemon, maple syrup, and even sugar, but with no success. Nothing I do can filter my repugnance. Here’s where any sane person would have had the realization that “Gee, maybe tea isn’t for me, I just don’t like it, so I shouldn’t drink it!” But apparently, I’m to stupid and stubborn, and my battle persists in trying to find a tea that I can consume without fighting back the gag. So, with that depressing look at the inner workings of my mind, and my lifelong battle with tea, lets move on to why I find myself here, giving this elixir a 5-star review: I stumbled into Waka’s Instant Kenyan Black Tea during my last bout of “Must find a Tea” madness, and read the reviews in which most tea drinkers referred to its unique capabilities to infuse into water without any grainy remnants and also its rich flavor. Reviews were very positive and something told me to order it. Upon its arrival, I opened the package and took a deep nasally draw and…nothing bad. I mixed up a small glass and took a sip, bracing myself for the inevitable ugly tea aftertaste letdown; but it never appeared. Instead, I was greeted with a slight but noticeable dark mustiness that was relatively pleasant with no repugnance! Zero Repugnance! I proceeded to sip away and in no time the glass was empty. At the ripe age of 49, I had just consumed my very first full cup of tea! Summary: While I cant say it’s the best drink I’ve ever had, it’s the only tea I have ever been able to finish, and from my perspective, that says everything. I’ll be ordering more! -If you’re a tea connoisseur, you would be wise to read the other reviews since what I’m peddling here isn’t going to help you much. -If you have a tea-hate personality disorder and are trying to find a tea that you won’t hate as much or at all, then take my word for it and give this a try. I can drink it straight but prefer a squeezed lemon with it, which compliments the tea well. -The caffeine level is a strong plus! Gives me a nice kick without the jitteriness of energy drinks.

As always prefect tea and caffeine content kinda pricy for small bag it’s very fresh tasting and good quality and I would recommend getting the larger bag

Much easier to mix up while you are still asleep, before heading off to a train and into an office where you don't want to deal with soggy teabags. Allows you to dose the perfect cup of tea once you dial in exactly what works best for you.

I don't drink much tea, but when I do, I tend to use teabags. They're convenient and easy. So the fact that I had to measure out the 1/8 tsp per cup was a little inconvenient. In all honesty, I was expecting the tea to be in small packages similar to their instant coffee. Nevertheless, having the ability to measure out my own tea gave me the power to get more caffeine and flavor if I wanted to as well. My first cup was a little weak so, in the afternoon, I made another cup with slightly more tea and it was great! The flavor is great and I have to say that I LOVE the aesthetics of the packaging. Definitely going to use some to make some homemade boba tea later.

I drink hot tea with milk, using imported tea bags. I also like instant iced tea. The latter was unavailable to me until now. There is no drinkable instant iced tea on the market far as I know. The last was Nestea which, being good, disappeared from the market long ago. In our dumbed-down country (like all the others I hasten to add), the L brand, being 100% junk, replaced it long ago. For years I too was dumb enough to drink it. Until now. I find WAKA instant tea very good. Now, it's not instant iced tea. You have to put the powdered tea in boiling watrer. I then let it cool down, mix it with cold water, put it in the refrig a while - hey presto, iced tea! So I'm left happy but with the uneasy feeling that WAKA will also get wise to our lack of discrimination and cheapen it to the L brand level. Meantime, thanks WAKA and Amazon.

I have recently been planning for a thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail and being and avid coffee and tea drinker I was I was in search of some products that could help me get my daily fix while hiking for six months on the trail. I have done extensive searches and always WAKA brands come up as one of the top rated items in the taste category (which to me is the most important). The tea being one of the newer products has been an absolutely awesome addition to their already stellar products. My favorite thing about this tea outside the flavor is that a very small amount will make you a cup of tea and it can be used for hot or cold tea. So versatile on a hiking trail and buying in bulk like this will last a really long time! Overall, I was very pleased with the product and feel it to be very worth the price considering how many cups of tea a single bag can make! Definitely worth the purchase and will be buying again when I run out.

A tea powder that contains tea and only tea and nothing but tea if all you want is tea. Of course, adapt the taste to suit; I find 2.5 teaspoons of "the Kenyan" mixed into 20 fluid ounces of water without ice packs a wallop (though sometimes that's precisely what one needs) while a rounded teaspoon mixed into 32 fluid ounces of warm water yields a carafe of decent overnight "cold brew".

Dissolves very easily in warm water. Has a pretty decent taste. However the metallic aftertaste is concerning especially since this comes in a foil lined bag. The bag also seemed a bit off- best way to describe is that it was very wrinkled. I only had this in the Amazon package and as soon as I opened it, I was hit with an overpowering coffee odor. Most likely will throw it away if they won’t allow return. Had high hopes for this one since it’s promoted for loaded teas, but my guess is it’s promoted because of affiliate commissions.
