Addis 518418 Everyday Kitchen Food Waste Compost Caddy Bin, 4.5 Litre, Blue Haze

I ordered this to keep in my kitchen for collecting food scraps to take out to the compost bin. Until recently I've been collecting these in a plastic bowl, but after we were invaded by fruit flies feasting on potato peelings, I decided something with a lid was needed. This arrived the next day. I chose this because it was a good size but compact enough to be unobtrusive, and I liked the fact it was made from 100% recycled plastic. It came without any unnecessary packaging, and only a sticky label which was easy to remove. The lid seems securely held on with an easy to use clip holding it in place, this looks like it will keep the flies out and hopefully keep any smells in. Although I probably won't use them, it is the right size for standard compostable food waste bags. The hinge is simple enough that it won't be too difficult to clean and looks like it should last well. The only downside I saw to this (probably reasonable for the price point) is that it has several rough edges where it has been made leaving sharp bits of plastic. Whilst they probably wouldn't be sharp enough to cut fingers, I could see that these would easily tear compostable bags, so could probably do with filing down if these are to be used. Aside from this, I am happy with the purchase.

Just wish it closed a bit better. It is ok as I put a liner in.It was good value for money and perfect size to tuck away by back door.

Handy, small size, fits in my cupboard under the sink. The lock is barely there, it gives a quite click, and that it. I wouldn't call it a lock, and an inquisitive mouse would surely open it...!!!

Replaced a far more expensive caddy, and wish I had done so earlier.Easy to clean and the lid stays down.Good build quality which would indicate this caddy should last a good time.

Fits EXACTLY behind the passenger seat in a Cali without moving when driving. Just the right size for a day bin.

Compact and does the job in hand. Lid a little loose to close, but keeps the small fruit flies in. Good price, colour and size.

I use this for cat litter and it works very well indeed. It locks well which means no nasty smells escape. For the price very decent modern design too.
