Compact and Effective
I was looking for an alternative to swapping wireless keyboard dongles between my Windows Desktop and my Macbook Pro which is setup in a desktop configuration for the most part. The additional ports provide future expansion potential. The four port USB switch is well designed, well built. It has the same form factor as a normal USB hub and comes in an attractive gloss black finish. The included hub to host (male, male USB A) cables are high quality and long enough (60cm) to easily run to both computers. Support for the switch is seamless and driverless in both my MacOS X 10.11 and Windows 7 machines. There is a OS specific setup time of 5 - 20 seconds when switching host computers. The switch has the option to be powered through an optional 5V input via a micro USB input ( cable not included ). For my low power application, the 5V input was not needed.

Pretty nice 3.0 sharing switch
This device is not bad for being able to control two PCs with the same keyboard and mouse. It is a very basic set up and does not require external power to be be used. It literally just plug in and play as you do not have to install any drivers. It does work well with windows 7 to 10. Because it does not require additional power, there is a draw back in that 2.5 portable hard drives and some bigger thumb drives will not connect though this device. There is not enough power unfortunately. For other thumb drives, it will connect and transfer at 3.0 speed which can add up to maybe 100 to 150 mb/s. The device does come with the two USB cables you may need and they are fairly long in distance. I usually use this device because I have two PCs that I work from and having the ability to control both of them whenever is great. It is also a great device if you do PC repairs as you can easily plug in another PC and not have to worry about having a spare keyboard and mouse. The device does not get too hot and the connectivity is pretty stable. Please note when you are switching devices to safely remove any memory devices before switching to ensure there is no corruption. Overall this is a great device to have but it does lack in power for portable hard drives.

Quick swapping between work laptop and home PC!
I didn't have to power the switch with a microusb cable like other reviewers. Swapping between computers takes about half a second. I swap betweenmy two computers a few times every hour. No issues so far for the first week. I see this switch lasting well beyond my intended use time. I do wish the LED was a bit brighter, but that's my only minor complaint. Well done Rybozen!

Quality product. Love it
I have two computers, one for gaming and one for everything else. I bought this switch to allow me to use one mouse and one keyboard on both machines, and it works great. I also needed to transfer files back and forth. I plugged in a thumb drive to one of the ports and it switches the keyboard and the thumb drive when I want to use the old computer. Problem solved!I really like this switch because it is small and doesn't take up much space and is 3.0

Works as described, just what I needed.
Easy to use with minimal effort. Works without the power port needing to be plugged in on USB 3 which is nice. Fast switching takes around 2 seconds to switch devices. One minor thing, the lights that show which device is active on the top don't match the ports when looking at the device from the front. So if the left light is lit the right port is actually active and visa versa.

randomly disconnects all devices periodically
The device seems to work fine at first, but any devices that I have connected to this switch periodically get disconnected from my computer for about 10 seconds, after which they reconnect again. So for example, if I have a keyboard, mouse, and USB headset plugged into the switch, every hour or so, for about 10 seconds I am unable to type or use the mouse, and the audio stops coming through the USB headset and instead starts playing through to my speakers. This is unacceptable. In addition, the indicator LED showing which computer you are connected to is very dim and almost impossible to see without looking very closely, and the button is low quality and sometimes sticks.

Works, But Very Flawed
The simplest way to answer the questions about this item are this. It does work, but it's flawed, and I've seen other reviewers indicate that. Nonetheless, I went for it, ordered the item, and gave it a shot. Plugged it in, plugged the included cables into a PC and into a Mac. The first thing I noticed was that I got constant disconnections. Seems like it would happen after the slightest touch of the device. When I kept the switch still, we were generally good. I figured using a Micro USB cord for extra power would help. Maybe a little, but it still did not seem to matter too much. Up to now, for the week I've had this, I've put up with it. Then today, I found an extra USB-A to USB-A cable, the same kind they give you, and plugged it in. Like magic, it began to work all the time, and no disconnections since I made the change. So, my hypothesis is that the USB-A cables they provide with this are hot garbage, and there's a strong likelihood you'll need to replace them at some point to make this useable. Thankfully, I had one already. Hopefully you won't require such good fortune.

Works Well
I have two side by side computers set up in my office/studio. One is for music editing and the other is for everything else. It really has opened up some room now being able to use one keyboard and mouse between the two computers. I still have to keep everything really close together due to the short cables. And I had to root through a lot of power supplies to find one that worked. This device really should at least have come with it's own power supply therefore minus one star. Other than that (and the short cables) it seems to work very well.
