Then buy this book and get a paraphrase of how something like a cell phone, or airplane works, when you could just google it, but this is offline so you can like travel with it, but it is kind of heavy, but oh well. Wonderful for my 9 and 11 year old boys. They just love this book. We keep several of these sorts of books lying around the house and I often find one of them plopped down on the floor reading random parts of it. They have learned a lot of science concepts from this book.

Makes a good gift for people who are interested in science.

I saw the story about the subjects in this great book and bought it first for my grandson for Christmas, then later I decided my husband and myself were always looking up many things on the net and how or why they work or the science being done today. My husband loves to read the Encyclopedia,so this would be great for him. , so I bought another and was able to look first. This summer he is usually out in the garden so I might have the chance to see all the wonders about everything included in the book and would enjoy more information in the future. I think every household should have this book in their collection especially if children are in the home to learn what school can't always cover :so much in so little time
