Organize It All Durable Chrome Closet Doubler (1346W)

I am impressed with the quality of these closet doublers, which are a great value, sturdy and visually appealing. These worked wonders in my kids' closets, almost doubling the space (hence the name!). Now I can put shirts on the top and pants on the bottom, leaving enough room to move things around and find whatever I need. A word of caution, however: in my experience, these don't work well with adult clothes, because the clothes are (generally) too long for the amount of vertical space between the top and bottom rails. Even my 10 year old son's clothes (size 12) are starting to get so long that the shirts on top overlap the hangers on the bottom rack. Although this issue doesn't keep me from seeing the items on the bottom rack, it does cause the shirts on top to get stuck on and between the hangers on the bottom. When I pull a shirt free, often the hangers/clothes on the bottom fall off as well. It ends up creating the same chaotic mess I was trying to correct! Still, these closet doublers have performed exactly as I had hoped for my children's closets, and to me the vertical space issue is obvious and therefore not a "defect" in the product itself.

The single most important thing you need to know about this doubler is that in order to use the top half for women's shirts/blouses, you will need to hang the rod on the bottom rung and even then, it might still be too short. I put this in my smaller single closet where it pretty much takes up the whole width. A couple things to note that I was uncertain about when I bought this: 1. Don't worry too much about the length of this, I measured my closet and it seemed several inches short of these measurements but the "hooks" that hang on your original closet rod can move about a bit. 2. This arrives in literally three pieces, the left "hook" and the right "hook," which are interchangeable, and the bottom rod. You hang the two hooks from your original closet rod and then slip the rod onto the rungs of the hooks. At first, it seems shaky but once my clothing was on it, I didn't notice it much and have no trouble taking things on and off the bars. 3. To give your bottom clothing just a bit more clearance, instead of putting your hangers inside the rectangular compartments on the bottom rod, simply hang your hangers right over the top of the bar. Hopefully you can see this in my picture that I've included vs. the stock pic. 4. Unless you are a small man, men's shirts will not fit on the original closet bar anymore even with the bottom bar hung on the last rung. To give you some idea of size, my size 0 dress shirts fit on the top bar with perhaps two inches clearance. Having said that, see #5. 5. There are eight rungs that you can adjust the bar on. Even if you can't fit your shirts on the top closet bar even with the bottom bar on the last rung, you can simply move the bottom bar higher so that you have more room on the bottom. The first several rungs are very high so you could hang the rod from one of those, giving you just a bit space on top that you could use to hang one of those wire baskets/shelves or hang other small things like hats of folded scarves etc. 6. The three pieces seem well made and durable, not too heavy or flimsy. Overall, this was a super inexpensive way to double my closet and I highly recommend it but with the caveat that depending on your clothing length and how high your original closet bar, it might not be perfect for everyone. But with my standard apartment sized closet, it works quite well.

This is a nifty little thing! Our closet bar is pretty high (approx 6 ft) so the size of this product worked very well. It helps to consolidate clothes to use space more efficiently in the closet. I use it with skirts on the bottom and skirt-compatible tops above. Great for those with an organizing streak! It's in a few pieces that come apart and hook together easily. It's not the sturdiest thing ever as a result, but I have it completely loaded with skirts and with that weight it's just fine. Might not be the optimal setup for your lead pants, though. Sizewise, a shorter (in height) closet bar could be problematic: if the top section is shorter, items on the top part could be too long and hang over the bottom bar...the rungs are adjustable, which is very convenient for different bar heights, but keep that aspect in mind. I bought two more for the closet and love being able to fit accessories like scarves on the bar with the extra room these things provide. Recommended, but check the measurements with your closet to be sure it'll work!

I was looking around to see how much it would cost to add a second clothing rod to my daughters' shared closet and I was kind of annoyed at how much the parts cost. By all means they were affordable, but the cost just seemed ridiculous for something they will eventually grow out of when their clothes are too long and the rod would need to be moved or taken out entirely. I went searching on Amazon and found this and figured after reading the reviews that this would work perfectly for a 5 year old and a 3 year old for a couple of years at least. Well, this worked better than I imagined. If I place the rod on the lowest setting, it leaves plenty of room for my 3 year old's dresses and shirts with room to spare on the floor for a small, 2 tiered shoe rack and the bonus is that she can reach her own clothing, which she has wanted to be able to do for awhile. We even gave it a test run while putting all of the clothes back into the closet after I installed the doubler and it is the perfect height for her. Placing the rod on the lowest setting also leaves plenty of room for all of my 5 year olds shirts and most of her dresses (the maxi dresses are a bit too long, so they're hung to the side of the extender since the closet is wider and leaves plenty of room for them. My 5 year old has a step-stool she uses to grab what she wants already so it works well - now all of her clothes are on one level and her sister's are out of her way. This also solved the problem of not having room in the closet for both girls' shirts and dresses, too often I ran out of room and just left the rest in the laundry basket which annoyed me. Now we have room for everything. both girls can access their own clothes and put their own laundry away and everything stays more organized. My husband and I don't have a closet in our room at all and I am thinking about buying a few more based on another person's review where they hung it from their ceiling, some things just don't store in the dresser very well at all.

I absolutely LOVE this thing! I wish I had purchased sooner, and I'm actually considering a second one. Works great! I was concerned that there would not be enough room between the original bar and hanging bar, and I was concerned that items on the hanging bar would graze the floor. I was also concerned that the barre wouldn't hold weight well or would swing or tilt. None is an issue! You can actually position the hanging bar at several different heights. Mine is in the next to bottom height option, which is perfect. My tops above it hang close to it, but not over (and you can lower it once more if you need to). On the hanging barre, I have mostly skirts with a few long sleeved tops. The height is just right for mid-calf skirts. I don't have any heavy sweaters or jeans or slacks hanging from this, and I can't honestly say that I think it would hold up to that kind of weight/pressure that a volume of those would bring. However, it works beautifully with a full load of lighter weight garments. So, it's pretty strong. I was also concerned that it would swing too freely or (worse) tilt in or out. Nope, it hands straight and perpendicular, and it doesn't swing unless given a good nudge. Totally recommend. (Btw, I paid approximately $9, which I think it a fair price.)

In theory these are the answer to quick and easy closet doubler. Made from metal, not plastic like many others - that in itself makes them worth the cost. The only downside is the height of your closet rod. I live in a 70's era built home, closet space is decent, but you always need more storage. Instead of moving up the standard bar means removing the bar, holders, 1*4's attached to the drywall that have the "shelf" on top of that - I thought these would work great - and as I said in "theory" they do; but the problem still gets back to how high up your closet rod is. I'm a bigger guy - so shirts are longer, pants are longer - and the lower bar works great, unless you have need of storing anything in the closet on the floor, which impedes the lower hanging bar insert which sadly is my current issue. So some coming weekend Ill empty out the closet, take down the wood and hardware patch the walls, reattach the 1*4's, top shelf clothes rod probably at top door trim height - I don't use the top shelf for much of anything but long term storage - Christmas paper organizer, random sweaters that I dont want distorted by hanging and then these things will ROCK for what most people want them to do. I purchased 6 of them for the 3 bedrooms; the other 2 bedrooms are for the kids and shorter clothes work very well, but most adults may need to raise the clothes bar for them to truly get what they need from this product, but that's a closet issue not an issue for this product.

Moving into a small apartment with a double closet in the bedroom. I had bought a similar product at Bed Bath & Beyond for $15, made of metal pole type construction. That one works well, but it was $15! This 'Organize It All Closet Doubler' was about $7. It was as versatile as the more expensive model. You can raise the horizontal bar to different levels along the vertical end posts. Bear in mind, your clothes are not going to look as nicely arranged as shown in the picture, unless you are hanging children's clothes which are shorter and you don't have many to hang. I hung adult clothes - shirts on top/pants on bottom, using the maximum positions on the vertical posts. The shirts touch the horizontal rod and pants touch the floor a little. This is in a normal closet with the built in closet pole at the normal height. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE NORM for these types of products-even the more expensive model. The little PURSE HOOKS on each vertical post are nice, but if you have a full closet, your clothes may encroach on the hooks. THIS PRODUCT is definitely a great organizational tool to help stretch your closet space and use that wasted area below your hanging clothes. BUY BUY BUY!!!

I ordered this for my small closet and really like that it is adjustable because I was able to put all tops and blouses on the top and all sweaters and skirts on the bottom. It's probably too short in length for pants unless you fold the pants in half. I accidentally ordered two and was going to return the second one, but kept it for a kid's closet. It's even better for children's clothes because I was able to adjust it to be smaller and fit all of a 7 year old's clothes on what went from a one-rung closet two-run one. It is very sturdy - no problems with it falling, but I placed women's tops, sweaters, and light jackets on it. It depends on the closet's hanging bar - if that bar is sturdy, this organizer will work perfectly.
