The ultimate indeed!
I bought this carseat cover for a trip from Nashville to Oakland to take advantage of Southwest's generous carseat and stroller policy. I had read a lot of reviews and there are a lot of products out there but I went with this item because of its versatility. First off this thing is HUGE, way bigger than my little Graco travel system carseat. I could have very easily put the carseat base in there as well (as was my original plan, but this seat does not require a base so I left it at home rather than haul around the extra weight). This cover will also easily fit my larger seat that my husband keeps in his car. In fact it would likely hold two of the small Graco carseat/carriers! Remember not to leave your handle up! There is a lot of padding and it protected the seat very well- I know a lot of reviews expressed concern about that. And with the extra space- vast, vast quantities of extra space- I was able to pack my boppy pillow, extra diapers, blankets, and on the way back, two big loaves of Portuguese Sweet Bread (very subject to being smooshed in the suitcase, but well protected riding in the carseat!). With a large carseat, you won't have this luxury but for the small-to-medium seats you'll have tons of room! (I learned this trick from another reviewer so passing the idea on to y'all!) The backpack feature was pretty good, ergonomic, and comfortable although I did not schlep it around for very long. I did see two other people on my trip wearing theirs and it seemed to be easy to handle- one was a very petite woman with two kids and a rather big carseat and she managed very well. It went through the baggage checking process perfectly with no rips or holes and no damage to the zipper. (But I credit some of that to Southwest having very nice baggage-handlers who take pride in not damaging people's luggage.) One last note, some airports will put carseats on the luggage carousel, but some will bring them to the "oversized baggage" area. Check there if you don't see your seat come up with the rest of your stuff! (Oakland put my seat in the other area but put my way huger and more cumbersome stroller on the carousel, it doesn't make much sense but there is a specific policy about dealing with carseats so be sure to ask about that before you panic as the carousel stops and you haven't gotten your carseat yet!) I am very glad I bought this product and can check my carseat with confidence! Definitely recommended and despite the date on this review (April 1st) NO FOOLIN' this thing is great!

Best toddler purchase
This is absolutely as described in the details. I use this for every travel of ours in a car seat. Fits costco geico 5in 1 perfectly and have not had any damage to bag or car seat after 3 trips with multiple flights. Must buy for parents travelling with kids. We pack our car seat and check in for free with air line, use it in renta car at destination. Easy for us, saves us money and kid has same car seat

Highly functional and good quality
I really stressed over which padded bag to buy for our travel convertible carseat, and ended up with this one. We've flown with it a few times now, and it's held up very well. We've even forgotten to tuck the straps in, and they're still intact. The bag has held up, our car seat is in great shape still, and we are able to fit "extra" things in the bag with the carseat with no problems. No complaints from me, especially for the price.

A must have if traveling with infant. Highly Recommended!
I purchased this bag when I was traveling with my infant son. I will start off by saying that I thought the quality of this bag exceeded my expectations. The canvas material is very thick and durable. The zippers are wide and sturdy. The straps are attached very well and have a thick, durable strap material. I purchased a stroller bag from my stroller's manufacturer and was very disappointed in the quality. Based on the quality of this car seat bag, I wish that I would have purchased a stroller bag from this manufacturer as well. I was able to easily fit my Chicco Key Fit 30 Infant Car Seat and Base into this bag. It seems as though this bag is likely constructed for a convertible or forward facing carseat, but I was able to fit my infant car seat into it without too much of a struggle. I just popped the carseat into the base and then put the entire thing in the bag. I was able to easily carry the carseat on my back and push the stroller or pull the suitcase. The straps make it very manageable. We have a Britax Marathon Convertible Carseat and I tried it out in the bag...fit in easily. I took a previous reviewers advice and was able to an additional bag in with the carseat in the bag (i.e. a bag of toys/extra diapers that I didn't want to have to sacrifice other luggage space for). If you put anything inside, I would highly recommend not leaving it loose, just in case the zippers are opened/come loose during transit. I would put it in a bag and then probably loop the straps of the bag to the carseat somehow (i.e. loop straps through the carseat buckles). I did this and didn't end up with anything missing. Of note, at the time of this review, you should not have to pay extra to check a carseat nor does it count towards any free luggage allowance. I will tell you, at different airports it came out at different baggage claims. Once it came out with the normal baggage and once it came out in oversized items. If you can't find it with the regular baggage, check the oversized area. Edit: We've had this bag over 2 years, with two kids and three carseats and it's still doing great. After about 10 flights, there are a few small 'wear and tear' holes in the canvas, but they are small and not enough to be a problem. We're still very pleased with our purchase.

Great way to package a car seat to be checked on a flight.
This is a great bag to use for checking a car seat. At the time of this writing I have used this bag to check our car seat on one round trip flight consisting of two flights each way. I have the Britax Marathon 70 car seat which is quite heavy. After our trip I see no visible signs of damage to the cover. The material seems like a fairly tough poly-canvas type material that I think will continue to stand up over time. The zippers are large and seem durable. The bag is large enough to easily fit the seat and leaves some voids in the seat area where I was able to pack some diapers. My two critiques of the seat are: 1) There is not as much padding as I expected. What is there proved to be adequate, but I was expecting a little more protection, not knowing how baggage personel might treat it. 2) With the weight of the seat in the bag it becomes quite uncomfortable. On my return trip I needed to stand in a line waiting for customs for about 2 hours prior to checking the baggage. I am a 6'2", 200 lb man in decent shape and my shoulders and neck were killing me. One final comment that I will make is that I would not recommend using this to lug a car seat onto the plane for use during a flight. I am glad that I did not. It is far too bulky to try to manouver through airports or down the crowded aisle of an airplane, and if you are traveling with your child there is no way you will be able to wrangle them with this strapped to your back. Rather, check the seat using this bag (it is free to do so), buy the CARES strap for your child to use on the flight, and have a stroller to check at the gate for use in the airports.

air travel life saver!
I am so happy with this purchase! We have used this carrier with a Britax Marathon car seat on 8 flights so far and it is so durable I foresee it lasting for the life span of this car seat at least. My husband and I have taken turns wearing the carrier on our backs through the airports and we have also checked the whole thing as well. I do not trust car rental car seats and always prefer to take our own, I like that once you get past security you can pack whatever you want into this bag, gate check it (for free on almost all airlines) and get a few more items in without these ridiculous baggage fees. Great for coats, etc. The carrier is a snug fit on our Britax, but it fits perfectly, just requires some patience when zipping up. Most airports made us take it out to go through security but it was not a big deal. The only downfall is that you may feel a bit silly walking around with this giant mound on your back, but we have passed several couples with the same thing in airports and it is totally worth it. The carrier is comfortable for me to wear on my back, but was heavy for me to carry by hand (my husband was OK with it). I would usually put my daughter in an Ergo Baby carrier on my front and this car seat carrier on my back (see photo I attached to the product page) and we pile the rest of our bags into her stroller and go. I feel the padding helps protect the car seat from any less than gentle baggage handlers. The one thing I have not yet tried is carrying this on the plane to install the car seat on a plane seat, but I will be attempting this in a few weeks so I will report back. I am glad I went with this model as I choose a cheaper route with our stroller bag and have regretted that (cheap red one).

works, good price, large capacity
Pros: * does its job: protects car seats * backpack strap is absolutely necessary -- the large size and small weight of car seats makes them easily fall off of stacked luggage carts, so backpack is the best option. * backpack can be re-used while at the destination to carry groceries, etc from the car to the hotel room. * this bag has a small layer of padding but can still be easily folded up for storage. I find that other travel bags with wheels have a hard plastic bottom that makes other travel bags harder to fold for long-term storage, and I use the back pack straps instead of the wheels anyway because my wheeled luggage already has too many wheels to navigate easily. I used the J.L. Childress Ultimate Backpack Padded Car Seat Travel Bag to check a Chicco Keyfit 30 (with base) on two 2 hour flights. With the base, the Chicco Keyfit 30 barely fit in the bag and stretched the canvas, but the zipper fully closed and the car seat was protected. After two flights there are a couple of small holes in the bag from it being dragged, but the bag is still usable. Tips: * Airlines will recommend that you check car seats at the counter (not gate check), but they should put a fragile item tag on the car seats. * Upon arrival, the fragile item tag should cause the car seat to be delivered to a bin at the baggage claim and not be put on a conveyor belt. But at Orlando International (MCO), our car seat was delivered to a far-away secondary bin instead of the bin that was closest to our baggage claim conveyor belt. At Canton-Akron (CAK), it was at night and the car seat was delivered via conveyor belt. * Some airlines do not count a car seat toward checked baggage allowance.

Game Changer
Should have gotten this one a long time ago. If you’re in doubt, get it! It has made traveling so much easier. No longer hurting one shoulder and worrying about item shifting in a bag, this one is a game changer. It’s thick, and the cover fits perfectly over the seat because of the shape. The backpack like straps, make it easy to carry when you have other luggage to push. It has made several flights and there has been no damage, all straps and zippers are durable.

Fits Britax One4Life
Fits my Britax One4Life nicely and folds into a manageable pack when not in use. Good for checkin bag but not too suitable for gate check due to the weight of the car seat (not the bag).

Padded, Neat and Useful.....
Very good. Well padded. Fits the Maxi-Cosi Axis perfectly. Once packed away it does make the car seat a very big item, but the top and long handles help to make it easy to carry. It's a well thought out item and makes you feel you have protected the seat the best you can. There is room, as other reviewers have mentioned, for packing nappies and other baby essentials inside.

Wish we found this earlier
We have a large Britax seat and it fits snug. I was afraid we would get a bag large enough but this one is perfect. Measure your seat and all is a couple of inches extra so it’s not too tight. It’s well made and has a jumbo size zipper to make it nice and strong. Nicely padded so it keeps your seat from being damaged too.
