Granted, this version covers "Ice Cream Sandwich" (I love the names of the OS) and I have Jellybean on my Nexus 4. The overview was still good though and the application recommendations were welcomed. This is a book that covers the basics ... but it also touches upon rooting your device and ROMs. It doesn't show you how to root your device (this is probably a good thing given the typical audience that may purchase this book) but it does lead you to resources that can help you learn how to root your particular phone or tablet if you wish to do so. Overall a good, basic and handy little book geared for the Android newbie. None of what it contains isn't stuff you could not gather yourself on the Internet with reading forums and researching. I just wanted and needed a good jump-off point to try to learn what I don't know and delve deeper. I like it a lot. Definitely a book for newbies. Also provides websites to which one may go for further info.
