Kyoto Moss Spores Our Moss Spores are of a variety commonly termed 'Kyoto' Moss, as is prevalent at the Kyoto Gardens in Japan. The beautiful, bright green velvet appearance is weed free, since it is greenhouse-grown in sterilized soil. Shelf life is indefinite, as spores are packed in a zip-lock bag within the envelope. A detailed growing guide is included. 1/2 Ounce Net Wt. Covers up to 3 square feet. Review: Moss Grew!! - Bought this a few months ago and sprinkled it on my bonsai in the summer - but the air is dry so had to water often outdoors. It grew slowly at first but when the temperatures dropped to 65F the moss just proliferated! It looks amazing! Review: Not the spores you're looking for. - So I purchased these last year (yeah) and then again 3 times this year. I'm a sucker I know. I thought maybe it was the spores or me. Let's see. The packs this year, inconsistent. One looked like it's do real well, but after weeks nothing. The new packs were just dirt. I didn't misunderstand the assignment, it was just dirt. Good news is it grew dirt. JK, no sign of life yet. Of course there's no return. Not unless you save some, scrape dirt in the polybag or something. So be ok with tossing the $12.

Great Moss
Used some on a few Bonsai to try. In 4 weeks I had thick green moss around my trees. I bought more and used the spores on the rest of bonsai.

Didn't grow.
Do they do say it's one of the hardest most to grow.

A waste of money
It's been 3 weeks since purchasing this item--I was skeptical about it because when I opened the little ziplock bag, I wasn't sure what I was looking at. There was fuzzy stuff along with some granular material (not much) that it was impossible to do anything except the entire contents over the ground area of my 3 bonsai juniper plants I have. I have kept it all moist according to the directions but there's absolutely no sign of life or green anywhere. It was a waste of money. I should have read more of the reviews already written about it. Very disappointing.

Excellent way to add character to any Bonsai Tree
These pretty much always sprout and add character to Bonsai Tree's or can be used for other projects of similar nature.

I followed the instructions and tried to get moss to grow in a pot with an established bonsai, in a container by itself on soil and in a container by itself on rocks. I had absolutely no growth at all after 6 weeks.

Durch das Einbringen von diesem Produkt haben 2 meiner Bonsais einen nicht unerheblichen Schaden erlitten. Sollten sich die Bäume nicht wieder erholen, bin ich geneigt einen Regress zu fordern.

It (they?) grows well but takes time and patience, I would say to wait at at least two weeks before anything appears green on the surface of the potting soil or the Miracle grow sphagnum peat moss (what I used as the growing medium. I recommend using a mini greenhouse and spraying it lightly daily. I also have it under one of my Sunblaster-Pro grow lights. I highly recommend these Moss spores!

I bought this with high hopes, several days after the first application white fuzz began to appear, I continued to keep it moist hoping something more would develop. After several weeks of nothing more appearing, I applied another thicker dusting of the powder to see if that would improve the situation. Unfortunately it did not, even though I kept it moist. After two months the only thing that has appeared is the white fuzzy mold. I've had to scrape that off and some of the upper soil and dispose of it.
