What does this do to beneficial bacteria? Would it kill it too?

Beneficial bacteria live on the surfaces in your tank and would not be sucked into the UV. It does not kill beneficial bacteria.

What happens if you leave it running all the time?

Nothing you just don’t get algae blooms

How do I know the uv light is on?

There's a tiny sight glass near the bottom on the front of the unit. The room and tank must be completely dark to see the glow from it.

Whould it starve my Algea eater?
