I really enjoy the VSD5 sound signature
I have the original Vsonic GR07 earphones at home and use the VSD5 earphones at work. Though the GR07 is probably a little more detailed (yet also more sibilant) with a slightly larger sound stage, I really enjoy the VSD5 sound signature. In my observation has slightly more bass than the original GR07. I've grown tired of the adjustable nozzles on my GR07 earphones, so I find the fixed nozzles on the VSD5 earphones a relief, particularly since I can easy to obtain a seal and they don't constantly pop out of my ears. I prefer the tips that come on the earphones and have found that comply tips tend to overly reduce the brightness. I haven't had any quality issues. Nor have I tried the Sony EX1000, so I can't comment on whether the VSD5 comparison is accurate. Regardless, you get a huge bang for the buck with these headphones, which in my mind more than compensates for any complaints about their somewhat pedestrian design.

Worth a try
These are probably one of the better sounding vsonic models out there, but build quality is a concern. The highs on the vsonic models are just too harsh for me. I can see why people love this model but it just wasnt for me. Keep in mind that I only used this with my iphone 6 and the static was also very annoying.

If you care about your music, buy these. If you don't - do your ears a favor and buy them anyway
I have a bunch of IEMs, including some that cost considerably more than these VSD5s - DUNU 2000s, Etymotic ER4P, and Sennheiser IE80s, among others. I believe these Vsonics sound as good as the DUNUs, better than the Etys, and nearly as good as the IE80s. And, since these Vsonics are comfortable and will stay in my ears, whereas the IE80s are not comfortable and won't stay in place if I move at all, these have become my favorite and my go-to earphones. They sound great plugged straight into my phone. Couple them with a lossless files from a DAP passed through a DAC/Amplifier and we're talking some serious audible bliss. I mostly listen to hard rock/heavy metal/punk and mostly as I jog. On this morning's run, I heard nuances in Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic that I have NEVER heard before, despite having been listening to this song for more than 30 years. Serious fun.

Great clarity on instruments and vocals!
The wires are as advertised; non-removable, however they seem to be more sturdy and have substantially wider diameter than the ones on the vsd 3 model. I used a pair of comply ts-400's as they are what I use on other earbuds. The mids are very clear in these compared to other earphones I used and I was noticing instruments and vocals that weren't present in my GR02's or ATH-M40fs headphones. The bass is clear and tight and sub-bass is present but probably not as much as in other more bass oriented models (VSD 3s), burn in might improve this however. I notice that the specs for these say they have a 32 ohm impedance which is quite high for a pair of earbuds. An amp may be necessary to get the most from these, however their max wattage is 30 milliwatts so I could be wrong. These are some of the best headphones I've ever owned.

Initially I was not impressed. The sound was very detailed but thin. I tried 3 or 4 different tips and finally settled on the Large tips that came with the VSD5s. I'm skeptical about the concept of 'burn-in' but these earphones improved dramatically after an estimated 30-40 hours and seem to be getting better every day.The bass is about right for Jazz and detail is exceptional. I'm using them with a Fiio X5 and sometimes the Fiio e12. I hate the ear guides. They come off all of the time and I'm afraid that I may loose them.

My (Value-)King of Dynamic Driver IEM’s, a mid-step up from the GR07 (for me).
Pros: Great detail, layering and instrument separation. Speedy impulse response and transient decay. Very comfortable fit, lightweight. Good noise isolation. Nice Design. Stellar price-performance ratio.Cons: Can sound a little sibilant (only for sensitive persons; very similar, but maybe a tiny bit more than found in the GR07), no strain relieve, not much sub-bass extensionMy equipment:Portable: Fiio X3, Samsung Note 3 Neo/Viper4android sound driver + jds Labs C5DDesktop: foobar2000 + Sabre 9018DIEM’s for comparison:Balanced armature In-ears: Logitech UE900s, Etymotic ER4ptDynamic-Driver In-ears: Sennheiser IE80, VSonic GR07, VSonic VSD3SNormally I enjoy the sound of neutrally tuned balanced armature driver in-ears more than the one of dynamic driver driven in-ears, because they achieve to reveal more details and are more controlled during complex parts of music with better layering of different sounds. In this regards recent models have improved remarkably. When I first listened to my VSonic GR07, the sound instantly reminded me very much of a balanced armature driver in-ear, this was even more the case with the VSD5.The sound is very detailed and clear with good texture, the mid-bass is moderately accentuated which adds a bit more impact to the sound which otherwise is rather bright, clean and analytic. The bass is very fast and controlled, never booming but unfortunately extents not much into the sub-bass.The mids are not affected by this little bass boost at all and remain very clear and transparent, they are probably the biggest strength of these headphones and are in my opinion even better than the Etymotics in this regard. I find vocals and acoustic instruments to sound especially good with these headphones. The highs are the most accentuated part of the sound, which might cause some issues with sibilance sensitiveness. As a result the highs reveal more details and the sound opens up and gets more spacious. The sound stage is large for an in-ear and the separation is very good. All in all these in-ears are basically an improved version of the VSonic VSD3S and now they are able to reveal a tremendous amount of detail close to my Logitech UE900s. The sound separation is the best I have heard from dynamic driver in-ears, not quite as well as the UE900s but close still. The mids and highs are definitely the best part of these in-ears, which is a bit unusual for a dynamic driver headphone, normally being better in bass reproduction. For me the Sennheiser IE80 were way to emphasized on the bass which was also a bit muffled and uncontrolled and sadly interfered to much with the mids and highs of the sound, which otherwise was good. That’s why I sold them a year ago and changed to balanced armature in-ears. But dynamic driver in-ears with a balanced sound like this one can be a real bargain compared to balanced armature driver in-ears with an equal performance. That’s why I like them so much and because they keep getting better and better.Kind regards from Germany(Unfortunately the VSD5's are not available through amazon germany, therfore I posted my review here on amazon.com. I bought my headphones at lendmeurears.com.)
