I've been using it to brush my dog's teeth every single night and she does not get cleanings, now that she is 12 years old for the first time she's started to accumulate some tarter on her teeth that this seems to no longer be getting off like it used to do, so I've decided to switch to a homemade toothpaste of calcium carbonate, baking soda, and a little trace minerals and a little food grade peppermint oil as I use it for myself and my teeth have never been whiter, even with whitening toothpaste. So to answer your question she has been good all these years with diligently brushing her teeth with this until now. Since we cannot get our dogs to tolerate teeth brushing, I tried this product several years ago and it really does work but you need to do it everyday for a month to see results and then maintenance every other week. The easiest way for me to apply is putting a little bit on my fingertip and gently rub in the middle of their top left/right gum line. They will lick it around their mouth so all teeth’s are covered. Good idea to remove water bowl for an hour so they don’t drink and wash away the gel. Ingredients that I can pronounce and are not toxic to dogs are a bonus and it also keeps breath fresh.
