Are they plastic nails?** A: I no longer live in that house so I cannot take a photo for you, but hopefully this makes sense. One end is shaped almost like a "c" the opposite end of the piece is a "d"--the two pieces slide together similar to male/female plumbing parts. There are no nails or additional connectors. Mine stayed connected without issue for at least 3 years snow and sun.... but I made a different choice for my current house as the decorative element wasn't important to me. I just wanted a break point between grass and planter beds. **Q: Is the top of the edging flat (like the picture on the packaging) or, does it wave up and down, like the product itself in the picture?** A: Top edge of each section has three "scallops", waving up and down.- **Q: I want to make a rectangular tulip bed. Can I make 4 90 degree turns?** A: Yes, within limits. There are slots at 1/3 and 2/3 positions (at dips in curved top.) The end of the next piece will fit at 90 degrees. one slot goes one way, the other goes opposite. With planning ahead it should work for you within a few inches of the desired size. The resulting piece sticking out at the corners could be cut back with a shears. These are strong edges. Preparing ahead with a straight edged shovel is then a good idea. Also, plan on some breakage if the soil is even modestly hard. I found that the bendable portions will crack fairly easily, even if using a good rubber mallet. I found that pounding each section evenly will help somewhat to avoid this. In spite of a few broken pieces, I am pleased with this product.
