Precisely as described
At 125gsm this is about the weight of a thin t-shirt — kinda sheer. What I wanted was something thicker. The options offered in this brand did not extend that far. Left on one of my lists, I mulled this over and hours later realized that TWO of these could be fashioned into what I wanted — with a bit of sewing.I am knotting, rather than stitching two unit together. This will not interfere with stretch nor comfort.Pictured is the knotting in process. This will yield a loonngg thin scarf that can be worn as 4-layers of material draped around the neck or doubled as originally intended but twice as thick.I chose the ‘goes with anything Black’ which was evidently less popular (?) for less $$$ than a meter long Merino Scarf -or- a heavyweight Merino Gaitor.I am knotting this together using Surgeon’s Knots with Polyester thread that is braided. About $30.00 all in plus some time listening to an Audible book as I mod’ another item from Amazon. If one is crafty one can have just what you want as you want it assuming you can shop for the component parts and make ‘your’ concept a reality.

Best Item I Bought Before a Week Long Bicycle Trip
At the last minute, I ordered this Buff Merino Wool neck / face protector for a week long bicycle ride through western Virginia and Tennessee. This was the best thing I bought for the trip and one of the best items I had with me. Some mornings we started out around freezing (32F; one day with snow on the ground). Other days it was warmer but windy - 40s to 50s with winds gusting to 30mph through the mountains.I was able to keep my face comfortable on the bicycle hour after hour with the Buff around my neck. On the cold days, I doubled it up and brought it up to the bottom of my sunglasses and over my ears. It kept my nose and mouth warm and prevented wind from getting under my helmet liner at my ears. On the warmer days, I would pull it up in a single layer when the winds were really gusting or on the cooler descents. It also protected my neck and face from the sun.A great item. I highly recommend this. I will use it for cycling, hiking, walking, jogging, and many other activities. The merino wool was still warm even with moisture on it from me breathing, and it was also not too hot when it got warmer. The magic of merino wool. Extremely happy with this product so far!

LOVE it, but it's a bit large
I use the UV protection buffs in the summer and just adore the product. They're really versatile, so I can have a Sahrain, hat, headband, whatever depending on whether I'm running, biking, hiking, or trying to hide horrible helmet hair. As it got colder, the need for a warmer Buff arose. I poked around online and saw that there was this wool version. I ordered it before my last century bike ride of the season, and it arrived just in time. The high that day was 41 degrees and happened at the END of the 100 miles. We rode most of the morning in sub-30 degree temperatures. This thing kept me warm and because of the extra-long size it worked very well as a helmet linter. The only problem is that it's a TINY bit too big (my head circumference is 23 inches) so it was a bit droopier than I would have liked and will not stay put around my face. My summer Buffs fit perfectly so I wasn't expecting this. Despite the size issue (which is minor) I still use this thing constantly! After the century I have been using the Buff on a daily basis for winter bike commuting. It's super-warm, but thin so it fits well under my helmet. I wear it every day, usually twisted around as a winter hat with a thicker brim over my ears. The wool keeps me toasty and even though I've done some biking in pretty cold temps already this fall, I've been toasty warm under the helmet. I definitely recommend this product, but if you have a smaller head than I do and want to use the wool Buff as a balaclava I would be careful as it may be too big for that.

One of the best accessories I've ever purchased
I travel extensively and often go from crazy climates to another. Sometimes I need a cap to keep my head warm, or sometimes I need to cover my face because of cold or pollution. Sometimes I just need a scarf to cover my neck. But I don't want to carry excessive things in my pockets or bag that I'll never use. A number of years ago, I bought a polyester buff because I saw "Long Way 'Round" and it came in very handy. It kept sweat out of my eyes and the sun off my neck in South America and in Asia, and it kept pollution of out my nose and mouth in China. And it held up through years of abuse. Now that winter is coming and I need to prepare to exercise outdoors, I need something that will serve multiple purposes. In the few weeks that I've had the merino wool buff, I've used this as a winter hat to cover my head and ears and I've used this as a balaclava while cycling to keep my nose/face/head/neck warm. The fact that this has so many uses and it's versatile means this will be my go-to accessory when heading out in brutal midwest winters. It's a great accessory and you can't go wrong with it. Worth the investment.

Versatile Warmth
My Norwegian cousins introduced me to Buff neckwear. I love that I can wear it in many different ways depending on the weather needs. I've found that if I have my Buff on my neck, I'm warm. And when I get too warm, I can stuff it in a small pocket until I need it again. I highly recommend this to anyone who lives or travels in any cold climate.
