DJI Ronin-SC 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer, Grey (CP.RN.00000040.01)

Picked this up at a very good refurb price wondering if my larger cameras would work. This is a great step up from a smartphone gimbal. Balancing has a small learning curve, but get easier the more you do it. I was able to balance a Fujifilm GFX100s with a small 50mm, which seems to be pushing the weight limit. It will also run a Nikon D850 (with small lens) just fine. Smaller point-and-shoot cameras also work fine, and I could throw on an old Sony Cybershot DSC-W100 for fun. Auto calibration can be started without the app by holding M and the trigger button until the lights start blinking. It's not unbearably heavy or big, but you'll probably get fatigued after a full day of use. Motors are very smooth and fully silent, with very fine joystick control. Battery life is good for several hours, though you could just tether it to a big USB battery pack. There are two attachment spots (one on each side), though you only get one plate for a female 1/4" mount. It also came with a very good 1/4" folding tripod "feet" to be able to set it down and also a smartphone mount. The Android version of the DJI Ronin app was not available in the Google Play Store (very sus), but can be downloaded and sideloaded from the DJI website. It's apparently required for activation, but my gimbal was pre-activated. The app has a lot of actually-useful tools like fine calibration, speed control, remote movement, person tracking, etc. Overall this is a very good first motorized gimbal for the price. I was previously using a traditional weighted gimbal with a Flycam vest, but this is definitely easier on the muscles. With a proper adapter, it can also be attached to a gimbal arm/vest for all-day relief.

Super happy with this product. DJI doesn’t miss. Solid sturdy feel, crazy smooth movements, simple setup and UI. Important to note if you’re somewhat new to videography equipment or to gimbals in general, while I would absolutely recommend this particular model to anyone new to the hobby, be very aware what size lenses you need to accommodate. Obviously this is entirely your personal need and preference but as I primarily do concert photography for heavy rock/metal bands and venues which naturally tend to be much lower light and often at quite a distance, the zoom lens that I would generally need to be using was just a little too big that I was not able to properly balance while still clearing the body of the camera without hitting the tilt or pan arms, so as much as I loved the size and convenience of this one I did have to upgrade. So unless you HAVE to use a hilariously oversized lens you should be perfect with this model and I still recommend 10/10.

The gimbal is solid and well-built, and when it works as intended, the results are excellent. The stabilization is impressive, and it can really elevate your footage. That said, there’s a steep learning curve. Balancing and calibrating takes time and patience, and if you plan on swapping lenses, it can really slow down your workflow. It’s a fun tool for experimenting and handheld shots, but for serious filmmaking where speed and efficiency matter, a sturdy tripod might be the better option. The gimbal itself is built with impressive durability, giving it a solid, premium feel that holds up well during extended use. Stability is also a strong point, with smooth performance once properly calibrated, even when handling heavier setups. On top of that, the overall design is straightforward and user-friendly, with a well-organized button layout that makes operation intuitive and efficient. It’s clearly designed with both durability and ease of use in mind, which adds to its appeal despite the steep learning curve.

This really is a great piece of gear at this price. Even with a heavy camera setup if you balance it correctly. Using a sony a6400 in a cage with a heavy phone on top and a heavy lens out front it is still amazing. Definitely take your time in the balancing step. Slow process the first few times as i had never used a gimbal. But after the learning curve i can rebalance it in seconds if i need to when i change lenses etc. Get one! You will not be disappointed and have so much fun getting creative with this thing!

I originally purchased a Zhiyun Crane M2 for my Canon m50, and it just couldn't balance it well. I decided to pony up the extra dough and buy this gimbal instead, and am I glad I did. This is cutting-edge technology that should give you incredibly smooth footage if you have a smaller mirrorless camera such as the Canon m50 or many of the Sony cameras. From other reviews I've seen it looks like it can work perfectly well for larger mirrorless cameras like the Canon EOS R and the Sony A7III, but you are likely going to have to be more conservative in your lens selection as there isn't enough clearance to handle really large lenses. With that said, this is a very capable and relatively convenient gimbal. I think it's a great entry-level gimbal for someone serious about videography or a great secondary gimbal for the professional who doesn't always want to go out with a bulky setup. Make sure your camera and lens combination is compatible, and if it is, you are in for a treat using this gimbal.

It did not work for my Canon R5 with RF 24-70. The total wait should be supported but size-wise it did not work well. Also balancing the camera is hassles because the same nub is used to tighten the plate on the gimbal and tilt axis.

I have fallen in love with this gimbal! I have been in the video world for almost 20 years. I was buying stabilizers back in the day that were terrible for more money. I am honestly shocked at what they sell these for with all of the technology and things you can do with it! DJI makes great stuff! Love having the phone app and being able to control it. They setup system is intuitive if you want it to be. It’s nice being to run balance tests on the phone to make sure you have it where you need it. I have used it on several shoots and I honestly never want to take the camera off of it.

Não funcionou o motor, nem tenta se mecher, para devolver o produto eu tenho que arcar com o custo de mais de 400 reais, estou a mais de um mês tentando devolver e não consigo, estou vendo se a Amazon me devolve meu dinheiro ou conseguem me dar um suporte para resolver meu problema, mas ainda está em análise. Me arrependo muito, confiei que seria o produto incrível que precisava. Consegui o reembolso pela Amazon, fico frustrado com a marca DJI mas a Amazon foi incrível comigo. Infelizmente não tenho mais coragem de comprar outro gimbal
