What makes DANIEL SMITH Watercolors so special with artists worldwide? We have 3 rules for the pigments we use in our watercolors: 1.They have to be safe. 2. They have to be lightfast. Out of 250+ colors, all have an ASTM lightfastness rating of Excellent (100+ years) or Very Good (100 years) with the exception of 2 highly artists requested colors. 3. They have to be reliable. Artists need colors that are consistent from tube to tube that they can depend on when painting. We developed our watercolors in the early 1990s and debuted 18 colors in 1993 with a goal of adding more palette standards as well as unique colors over the years. Now with 250+ colors, the widest range of colors in the world, DANIEL SMITH has many unique colors and is fast becoming the top manufacturer of watercolors in the world. Our watercolors continue to be manufactured in small batches, they are handmade, and hand packed for consistent quality control. This transparent yellow is perfect for Autumn leaves from the duller, ochre older leaves to the brilliant yellow of sunlit leaves against the deep blue Autumnal sky! AUSSIE RED GOLD: Is the rich, golden color of ochre cliffs set aflame at sunset. This brilliant, reddish gold will add glowing light to Autumn leaves, late summer flowers and landscapes! OPERA PINK: A primary magenta with a hint of fluorescent pink granulation producing some of the most brilliant glowing mixes you have ever seen!
- QUINACRIDONE MAGENTA: This deep red violet smoothly paints out from deep darks to clear, glowing rose washes, a must for floral painting! IMPERIAL PURPLE: Rich in texture, this highly saturated purple will granulate to reveal shades of plum and ultramarine. MOONGLOW: Water frees this amazing three-pigment blend to perform miracles. Watch and wait as Anthraquinoid Red floats, Ultramarine Blue settles and Viridian grays the resulting violet color. A description of the fascinating light and dark washes can never match a personal experience!
