Turns guitar into a dobro
I sold my dobro a few years ago because I didn't spend enough time to get good at it. I couldn't justify keeping it just to fart around on once in a while. I put this nut on the least expensive guitar I have - not a cheapo guitar but not high end. I now have a dobro any time I want. And it takes 5 minutes to put on or take off. Plus whatever time to tune to a chord. I feel like it has given that guitar new life. It sounds better as a dobro than as a guitar. Attached a picture in the hopes you can see how high it moves the strings. You could not play this your guitar as a slide guitar with this on - only as a lap dobro. Now I want to move the nut to my Gretsch Boxcar reso which I use for slide. I think that will sound amazing as a dobro.

Super easy and fast to install, I like the non permanent design, a little wide
I have an old guitar from my teenage years that has always been good to me, but the neck is shot and can't be fixed (one way truss rod, backbowed). Rather than throw it in the garbage, I grabbed one of these to raise the action to stupid high levels, tuned to open E, and use it as a slide guitar for a few songs live. It works perfectly, and was pretty cheap, I'm happy with it. The only reason I docked a star was because this thing is super wide. It looks a little awkard having both E strings hanging off the side of the fretboard, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't significantly affect tuning or intonation. I just would have preferred the option to get one slightly more narrow. Overall, I like it.

Works GREAT!
I was not impressed with the way it looks and had some doubt. However when I installed it it fit my old DOBRO just fine. I like it and after it was installed it looked fine. The other one I have is made in the USA from the 1930'S and it 's still shiny. The Grover is a good one I would recommend it. Neve had a problem with any Grover products that's why I bought the Grover I would not trust an off brand.

Does What It's Supposed To and is Easy to Use
This was really easy to install, since it only required me to loosen my strings to the point that I could slide it under them. I did notice that it was a little wider than my fretboard, and did hang over the edges a little, but that isn't an issue to me. I've been playing around with my new converted slide guitar and it's been pretty fun.Because it is easy to remove/add, I'm looking forward to having the ability to take it off of my acoustic and put it onto my electric whenever I feel like it. It does what it's supposed to, and it is solidly built. I'm not sure what else I'd be looking for in this kind of product. I can't speak to the slot sizes on this nut, but I haven't had any issues playing with the one I ordered, so it worked out for me. I'd recommend this product if you're looking for a cheap and effective way to convert over to slide guitar.

Surprisingly good!
You set this up but sitting on top of the existing nut. I had some worry about it shifting and throwing the guitar out of tune, but you have to actively try to make that happen. The string tension is enough to keep it in place (unless you force it). Even then, it just shifts right back and there are no intonation problems. My other concern was damaging the fretboard. I put a little strip of cardboard underneath the part that rests on the fretboard and there are no problems. I would absolutely recommend buying this if you’re thinking about getting a square neck guitar. This will give you a good idea of what to expect. I have it on my resonator and I love it.

A great solution for converting an old acoustic guitar to a lap steel!
I own a old (circa 1935) Bel-Tone resonator guitar that I bought at a flea market for $5. The neck is too bowed for fretting, but the string height isn't high enough for sliding. I decided to give this Grover nut a try. It works PERFECTLY as the product name implies. Installation was a snap. All I had to do was detune the strings, slip the Grover nut into place and retune. Now the string height is just right for playing the guitar as a lap steel. The Grover nut is a few millimeters wider than the original nut, but that is good because the string spacing at the nut is now exactly the same as the bridge, which is important for steel playing. I am very, very happy with the result!

Works for Left Handed, Just Not Ideal
I asked suppliers and Grover directly and the only response I got back was from StewMac. Apperently, there's no left handed version of this product. (however)I needed slide acoustic for a TV brief and didn't want to buy another lefty instrument. So I ordered this "perfect nut" extension with little faith it would work as the notches are carved for right handed use only.Though not ideal, the notches on the lower strings have enough of a grove to hold them in place. Pleasantly surprised. There really should be a lefty version, but until then, this works.Lefties, it's safe to order.
