Four Stars
These are really neat, but generally smaller in size than you imagine for the price.

Small, but excellent
Using to display old, rather delicate objects. Snug, secure fit in a unique and attractive presentation. Well made frame, should last for years.

Overall, I'm pleased with it.
I've been looking for something like this for a while to display a medal, both back and front. Medal is about 4cm diameter so this frame is a very good size to display it. The frame consists of a surround which opens/closes with a mostly inconspicuous clasp, and contains two silicone sheets or "membranes" spread fairly taught across each half of the frame. There is no glass, so if you poke the transparent part it deflects. When closed these two membranes come close together and sandwich whatever is put between them. One concern I had was whether any item put between the sheets would slide down, especially a heavier item like a coin or medal that has a more 2D profile. Actually, the sheets are very grippy and prevent movement, though they're not sticky, so removing items is easy when the frame is opened. I've had the item displayed for several days now and there has been no movement. I'll have to see longer term whether there is any stripping of the plating, e.g. when trying to remove the item in several months' or years' time.Reservations: the transparent surfaces are silicon, not glass, and this feels a bit flimsy. I don't know how hard wearing this will be and whether it will become damaged or degraded over time. But the main issue I have preventing 5 stars is that once closed none of the 4 edges of the frame present a flat surface at the join (more like 190 rather than 180 degrees). So whichever way the item is placed standing up, it can rock backwards and forwards a little. It still stands up fine but it's a cheap design detail. Then again, for a tenner I suppose that's what you get.Overall, I'm pleased with it.

A recommander.
