## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i convert/connect a digital speaker on this box and extract the audio to the arc on my smart tv?**
A: This audio extractor is not compatible with television HDMI IN ARC sockets, only works with HDMI OUT sockets. 

You need to buy an HDMI ARC audio extractor.

**Q: Is there a way to default the audio to 2 channel, when using the optical output (toslink or coaxial)? Or is the only way to use an analog connection?**
A: There is the switch on the unit to select either 2 channel or "home cinema" 5.1 basic setup.
Most modern DACs would auto detect data streams anyway.
So if your DAC was stereo only, it would just extracts Left and Right channel sound and pass it on to preamplifier or integrated amplifier.
Just remember it is brilliant kit for the money.
It is not comparable really to proper streamer/media file player.
Just best, cheap solution (IMHO) to add digital radio etc to old analog hifi equipment.

**Q: What's the 'Use case'. I'm baffled**
A: Hi. I've been using this box as a connector between my smart TV and slightly older AV Receiver.  

It has an HDMI lead from an eArc HDMI port from the TV.  

This lead goes into the box from Amazon. 

From the box I have an Optical TOSlink cable to my amp. This works beautifully and sounds great. 

I've looked at the literature and manual but can't find a reference to "Use case" unless it's in another review. 

Rest assured, if your TV has HDMI out and your amp has Optical in the box will work. I've tried a few and this was the best. 

My first AV home cinema setup was in 1997, with a Surround Sound amp, 25" Sony TV and Mission 5.0 (Subs weren't a thing back then for the casual user) surround speaker package. I've upgraded since then but have always been a savvy buyer and looking to upgrade for the best £/quality equation.

**Q: Is the output 3.5mm Jack ? And will the sound come out of here when hdmi passes through ?**
A: Correct. HDMI connects to the unit and splits video and sound: Video and sound continues from unit through output HDMI, and sound continues through output 3.5 mm jack via aux cable to audio system or speaker.
