A Super Special Awesome Water Bottle
This water bottle is easy to clean, doesn't scratch easily and is so stylish and pretentious that one might actually feel compelled to carry it around with them on a daily basis - or to use it to carry water while riding a unicorn long distances. My first Klean Kanteen water bottle was one of my favorites - durable, but collected scratches and small dents at every minor mishap. This water bottle was not insulated and had a narrow mouth - which made it was somewhat difficult to clean. After I lost this water bottle, I thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade to something sleek, stylish, and sexy. In the sea of gleaming stainless steel 20oz water bottles, this one stood out from the waves. It's slim shape and modern color options were what first drew me to this Klean Kanteen. Was this love at first sight? Perhaps. I anxiously awaited the delivery of my new water bottle. Like a small child at christmas, dressed in my pajamas, I stealthily hid behind the door, hoping the UPS delivery person wouldn't see me. Not even my sheer excitement for receiving THIS water bottle could overcome my crippling social anxiety. Once the delivery person had vanished, I seized the small brown package and, with the brute strength of a mountain troll, gently removed the packaging tape from around the opening of the box. I believe angels were singing as I pulled from the plastic packaging what was to become the best water bottle I have ever owned. The cap twists on and off with ease, yet I never have to worry about the top coming off because the sturdy construction of the metal lip of the bottle and the cap fit together like Lego pieces - perfectly. The plastic coating is strong, and does not scratch easily. On one dangerous run in with a door frame while this water bottle was dwelling in my back pack's water bottle holder, it did obtain a scratch - but it is hardly noticeable since the finish on the plastic is not obnoxiously shiny. The stainless steel at the top and bottom of the bottle have not dented in any way - even though I have accidentally dropped this water bottle while saving princesses from dragons, or being a ninja with mad skills, and so forth. The silver at the bottom does reveal scratches more obviously than the plastic colored part of the bottle However, I also tend to abuse my water bottles - so that is to be expected. This water bottle keeps my coffee hot for longer than many of my travel coffee thermoses do! On the flip side, it also keeps my water ice cold for almost the entire day - even when the temperature outside is extremely hot. When dispensing liquid into this water bottle for later consumption, anticipate that the temperature will not change drastically in a short amount of time. The larger mouth of this bottle also makes it very easy to clean in comparison to my old water bottle. My only real complaint is that the temperature of the beverage does not ever seem to return to room temperature. This is by far my favorite water bottle for daily use - I can fill it up in the morning and it stays cool all day. However, when I'm working out at the gym, I like drinking room temperature water rather than ice water. Since this water bottle holds the initial temperature of the water so well, I can't just wait a few minutes for the water to become less cold [like I could with my non-insulated Klean Kanteen]. I guess that you could say this water bottle works TOO well. In summary: Best water bottle I've ever purchased! Works so well that it actually causes problems. I would recommend this water bottle to everyone I know, and plan to buy several more!

Perfect to bring your tea at work
I really like this insulated bottle. It is very elegant, the color (Neptune Blue) is stunning, and it is really spillproof. Here is what I bought the bottle for. I like to brew tea in an Tea Forte KATI cup brewer , and then savor it. But I usually wake up too late for the savoring part. This would lead to frustration because I bike to work, things get shaken, and thus I had to leave my brewed, undrunk tea in its cup, to wait until the evening when it is cold (still delicious but defeats the purpose of a morning cup of tea). It's going to stupid, but thinking of buying this bottle just improve every work day a little bit: I now pour the tea in the bottle, screw the top off - confident that it's not going to spill around my bag - and then drink at work. In the evening when I get back from work, I just rinse the cup and lid by running cold water over them - ready to be used the next day. The reason why this bottle is so perfect is that I do not need a super fancy system to be able to sip on the go. I understand that this fits a specific usage scenario: most often when you're commuting in the car. But in my experience, these complex systems (such as Zojirushi's thermal mugs , which are probably the best/most reliable of their kind) have one of either problem: - either the mechanism is not reliable and you know it WILL spill at some point (not if always placed in a cup-holder, but definitely if moving around in a book bag); - or the mechanism is very tedious to clean out, most likely not machine washable, and either you will spend more time cleaning it diligently than the convenience the cup offers; OR worse, the cup starts tasting of some remnant of tea; OR worse mold grows on the joints. I have been there, I have done that, and I am convinced a bottle that does not allow sipping, is the best way to go. And for that purpose, this Klean Kanteen bottle is superb! Also: it properly insulates tea, it's warm until way past lunch; it is durable (dropped it on the floor with no issue), and at 16 oz is perfect for my 12 oz cup.

Works like it is supposed to
I have the brushed stainless 12oz./355ml. insulated bottle. I am not a "save the planet" sort of guy . . . so the hype about REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE was not the reason I looked at the Klean Kanteen. I do believe this company DOES care about that stuff and I respect them (and you if you are so inclined) for it. I was drawn by the design of the bottle itself, the stainless steel on the bottom of the Loop Cap, and the overall quality of the bottle. The company also seemed very honest in their product descriptions (temperature retention, etc.) and literature. I do not mind paying a little more for a quality product. The Loop Cap is sturdy and easy to carry. No sharp edges on the cap or bottle. As a matter of fact, I was a bit worried that the bottle might slip/bounce out of my backpack as I ride my bike to work. Happily, the 12 oz bottle is short enough that it rides pretty deep in the side pocket that seems designed for such things. NOTE: the insulated bottles are a bit too narrow to safety ride in a typical water bottle wire holder on a bicycle. The wide mouth of the bottle really helps with cleaning the inside. It also makes it possible to use large ice cubes in the bottle. The rim is narrow, but not sharp and is comfortable when drinking or eating right from the bottle. I have not had any leaks or difficulty getting the cap on or off. No issues with flavor transfer; garlic-laden soup one day, Gatorade the next. The container performs at least as well as advertised whether using hot or cold contents. After an hour long commute in the morning, the oat groats or wheat berries I prepared the night before are still quite warm and ready to eat. I even put a whole raw egg, the shell, in with my groats one evening and enjoyed a perfectly hard boiled egg and warm groats the next morning! I would recommend this to a friend. As a matter of fact, I ordered a 20oz size as well. What the heck, I guess I also enjoy helping to save the planet!

No more plastic for me: the Klean Kanteen is King
I used to go through so many plastic water bottles. I tried to refill them as often as possible but still I used plenty. Not only did I want to stop the waste, but I wanted to switch to filtered water. I made the switch to filtered first and found that keeping a glass of ice water on my desk was really annoying; the condensation left little puddles of water everywhere. I started using a coaster and after a week it got moldy! Enter the Klean Kanteen. Made of food grade stainless steel, it's totally safe and I can stop worrying about the leeching of plastic. There are small amount of plastic in the cap that come in contact with the insides - as well as the gasket which is made of food grade silicon. I tend to keep the kanteen upright so no liquid is coming in contact with the plastic/silicone anyways. If it does, it's not for long. Here's the direct quote from customer service: "The caps for our insulated and wide mouth kanteens are made of bpa and phthalates free polypropylene #5, high quality, 18/8 food grade stainless steel, and the gasket is made of food grade silicone." I now carry my kanteen with me everywhere. I keep it at my desk, by my bed, take it to the gym, work, shopping, leave it in the car when I go somewhere, etc. The insulation is amazing - if you fill it with ice water, the ice won't melt for about 24 hours. Even then, it's still ice cold. There is almost no condensation whatsoever - zero when inside - just a little if I'm out in the hot sun and there's a big time temperature gradient. At my desk it is 100% free of sweat/condensation. I find it's durable - though a little prone to dings and dents - but that's hardly a problem for me. I've really grown to like the little loop on the lid - it's so easy to just scoop it up with a finger or two and be completely sure of my hold on it. I like it so much I actually bought a second one. I now use one for 24 hours then clean it and leave it to dry.

Stupid name and disappointing cap, but GREAT insulation
My boyfriend has had a 20 oz bottle for ~a year and he talks about how wonderful it is all the time and he's always telling me I need one. I decided to finally buy my own (mainly so he would shut up about it). I do like it and I'm mostly happy with the purchase. Pros: -It keeps my water pretty cold. Last weekend I left it in my car in direct sunlight (on a warm day in Texas) for a few hours and there was still ice in it when I got back. Also, I have a black canteen so it's most likely to absorb heat of all the canteen color options. The insulation is obviously pretty robust if it kept my ice water icy in those conditions. -I like the rounded inside of the container. It's much easier to clean than other canteens I've owned. Also the stainless steel gets less gross than plastic if you keep some liquid in it for too long. Cons: -I told myself that I wouldn't buy products from companies that have stupid misspelled names. I hate that they've changed the Cs in clean and canteen to Ks for no reason. I know this might seem like a silly complaint, but I have a hard time trusting the quality of a product from a company that names itself with misspelled words. This is why I won't get my car fixed at Key Auto Werks and why I won't take my children to a daycare called The Kids Klub (and why I told myself I wouldn't buy a canteen from Klean Kanteen...). -After filling the canteen up and screwing the top on, water will often get caught in the ridges at the top and then it will leak out. A surprisingly large amount usually leaks out. I've found that leaving a bit of space at the top when filling it up fixes this problem for the most part. -I have a hard time screwing the top on correctly. It usually takes a few tries for the thread to catch. It helps to set the canteen down on some surface when screwing the top on rather than holding it. Even though this is only a few seconds wasted, it's still pretty annoying. -It's a little heavier than I'd like it to be; however, I'd rather it be slightly heavy stainless steel than lighter plastic. I gave this product 4 stars because I like it and would recommend it to others, but I'm not nearly as obsessed with it as my boyfriend is and I think the cap could be improved. It's unfortunately too late to improve the name of the company...

Highly Reccommended
When I bought my Klean Kanteen, I needed a water bottle that could do almost everything. Something to carry with me all the time. I had a few criteria in mind. It needed to be wide mouthed, easier to clean and easier to put ice in it,etc. The Klean Kanteen's mouth isn't quite as a wide as a nalgene, but it's wide enough. Though 'an extra wide' version would be better for a thermos/for camping. I wanted it to be metal to keep up with me. Even the 'unbreakable' Nalgene bottles shatter with the treatment I give them. I've had my Kanteen a few months and it has exactly one small dent that my brother managed to give it. It has not effected performance any. Also wanted to be able to use it over the fire, but I can't with the insulated, this was a trade off I made with myself and it was worth it. It had to be insulated. I originally wanted, as earlier mentioned, one to be used over the fire, but on my priorities list insulated won out. I use it to drink ice cold water and hot tea. I spent six hours outside at the zoo in 106+ heat. The outside of the bottle was hot, but the water inside was still ice cold when I dumped the last bit on my friends head. It works well with hot beverages as well. I drink tea out of mine every morning. I carry it in the side of my backpack everywhere I go. I love the thing. I highly recommended. I'm considering a second one for hikes and when I'm working in the summer. Definitely a very useful and durable bottle/thermos. I recommend the loop cap, as it is leak proof. I have, and use, a cafe cap, but when I throw it in my bag, the loop cap is best because it does not leak.

Coffee is kept too hot to drink
I don't usually write reviews for products. I'm so impressed with this bottle that I felt compelled. Seriously, this thing keeps coffee too hot to drink. I feel like it even heats it up more. I bought this because I got tired of using a paper cup every morning for my coffee at work. I'd buy a cup in the cafeteria, take it upstairs, and as I drank it, it cooled off a bit due to no insulation. But it always needs a little bit of cooling. My upper lip is currently lightly burnt because of my first two days of using this bottle. I'm not exaggerating when I say even the very last drip of coffee out of this thing stays hot. So, I may have to come up with a system where I air it out a bit with the lid off before I drink it, or pour it into a smaller cup like you would with a thermos. I don't care. This thing works so well. And very attractive. Important note: I bought a cafe cup lid to go with it, as I figured I wouldn't want to keep screwing/unscrewing the standard cap. Note that if you get one as well, it's the furthest thing from leak proof. Like, it has zero seal at all. I rinsed it out with that lid on when I first got it and ended up soaked just by shaking the water around in the bottle a bit. And I knocked it over--it's much taller and slimmer than I'm used to my coffee being--and spilled about half the coffee on my keyboard. All that said, this bottle does exactly what it should, and is very nice looking. edit: one thing I failed to mention, and this matters, is that there's no option to not use a lid when drinking hot liquid. I got frustrated with the cafe cap and tried drinking right from the bottle, but the metal opening of the bottle was way too hot to drink from.

Great for iced tea, and no plastic (UPDATED)
We are reducing our use of plastic for food and liquid storage, and these bottles work great. We got three of them, and keep iced tea in them, stored in the fridge. They clean up easily (fill part-way with soapy water, throw in stainless steel wool pad, put on lid, shake), and have survived being dropped with only some little dings, no leaks or anything. Also, I've heard a lot of people warn about metallic taste in iced tea stored in metal containers, but that does not happen here. I'm not sure if the metallic taste thing is just an old wive's tale, or refers to non-stainless receptacles, but we have not had that problem. One tiny complaint is that the lid has a thin rubber/plastic gasket that is prone to falling out. We've lost one of them already, but since they only sit upright in our fridge it doesn't matter to us. But, if you plan to treat them more roughly, store them on their side, etc, you will need to keep track of the gaskets. Other than that, no complaints, highly recommended. UPDATE: We've been using these jugs for several years now, and still love them, and I wanted to clarify something in the above review. I figured out why we sometimes have the gaskets come loose - it occurs when we pour in the tea while it's still very hot, then immediately seal the jugs and place them in the fridge. As the liquid and air in the jug cool, they contract, which forms a vacuum, and the suction of inrushing air is audible when you open it later. This is the only time that gaskets come out. If we let the tea cool down a bit - not all the way, just not directly in the jugs and sealed in the fridge after steeping, the issue does not occur. Just wanted to pass that info along to anyone considering purchasing these containers, or anyone else who may be experiencing a similar problem with hot liquids creating a vacuum that extracts the gasket. The gaskets are relatively easy to put back into place, fyi.

Fantastic product
This is by far the best insulated bottle I have ever owned. This is my third one only because one was stolen and I lost the other one. In addition to it being well made and keeping liquids hot or cold a long time, my favourite thing is that with the stainless steel loop cap, there is no plastic at all touching your beverage! I have never been able to find any other insulated bottle that has no plastic.
